So our stay at the hotel was so-so, and here's the good and the bad breakdown.

The Bad
  • The elevators sucked and were very slow.
  • The staff didn't seem to care much about your concerns.
  • The pool was dirty (ducks swimming in it) and duck poop around the deck.
  • There were cobwebs around the entrance to our room with bugs in them.
  • There was dust and cobwebs in the room itself.
  • One of the sink faucets was missing it's head.
  • The automatic nightlight didn't work in the bathroom.
  • Two feet at the bottom of the sinks were missing and very sharp.
  • The bar fridge was never cold, cool at best.
  • Cigarette butts would fall from rooms above ours and land on our balcony.
  • Our room (4238) was right about the monorail station where you load/unload. Although the monorail itself was barely heard, people's voices were very loud including the staff wailing "all aboard".
  • Cold water in your room (sinks and showers) didn't exist and the water smelled like sulphur.
  • Check-out was at 11AM, but before then housekeeping knocked on our door 4 times!
  • There was not enough storage space (drawers) etc. for clothes.

The Good
  • Our MK view was amazing and well worth it, we watched Wishes from the balcony twice on the nights we weren't at the park.
  • The mattresses were very comfortable and the pillows plentiful.
  • The AC worked well and was a welcome white noise at night.
  • The curtains were wonderful and kept the room very dark.
  • The monorail was a huge plus and convenience, I have no idea how so many of you bus it everywhere.
  • We ate from room service once (private dining) and it was so yummy, really really yummy.
  • Chef Mickey's was pretty good and the breakfast was very good.
  • The gift shop was large and a great place to spend money.
  • It took only about 10 minutes to walk back/to the MK from the hotel. This was very convenient when the park closed or after parades when the monorail was packed!
All-in-all we had a good stay, but honestly I'm not sure we would stay there again. Plus we had a problem when checking-out, regarding our bill. The front desk manager actually said I was "threatening her" when I mentioned I would have to call Visa to dispute a room service charge. LOL that's a threat? That comment really heated me and made our "goodbye" very unpleasant. :sad2:

Oh well, next time I think it's the GF or Poly for us. ;)

Sorry you had difficulties, I have to admit as much as we loved the "old" CR we weren't bowled over by the renovations. We also had a fridge that never really got cold and also noticed the lack of drawers. DH was especially miffed to find the shelf that used to be over the bathroom sinks gone, giving you very limited space to store toiletries ( there were three females in our room, ;)). I missed the small vanity that used to be in the WC, I could spread all my "girlie junk" out there and stay out of his way. We also found ourselves fighting for drawer space. Just curious, was the in room internet still free?

I highly recommend the other two hotels you mentioned!

Hmmm, when we were there in May it was free for the entire stay.

When you first logon a window pops open and says something like:

You have 23hrs and 49 minutes remaining in your free session...

Yeah, at the end of the 24 hour session if you logged back on it would have said the same thing. It bills in 24 hour increments, that's the way it was when we were there, we had free unternet the entire stay. Sorry you didn't realize that. My girls stayed on Disneychannel.com every night.

We didn't have as many issues as you had, although we did encounter the "ho hum" attitude of the staff, even on the concierge level.

That said, I don't think we would return unless we did a split stay and did maybe two nights. Nothing specific, just not "blown away". I really wouldn't mind it for a couple of nights, but not my entire vacation.

Hope you enjoyed your trip overall, and that really is a stinky way to end a vacation...sorry that happened!

Stayed at the Poly in August, no free internet there.

I agree that most of the things on you're bad list should not have happened and should have been fixed right away. The only thing I kind of disagree on is the elevators. While I did find them a bit slow during the peak hours of the night, the other times they have always been very fast.

I am happy you did find some goods things about the Contemporary and I hope you try to remember them more then the bad things which happened to you and you're family.

LOL no worries, I used maybe 1 hour at most... hubby made me promise not to use the internet while there. ;)

LOL DH was reading my post and said I forgot to mention 1 thing...

We filled out a breakfast card (the one you hang on the door knob outside your room) and they never picked it up, thus no breakfast in the morning.

When we called room service they did apolgize and were quick to send up our order.

I'm sorry you had so many problems, but I wouldn't have hesitated one second to call them and demand they either switch my room if it were unsafe for my children or fix it pronto. We've always had a great stay at the CR and cannot wait to get there on Friday, I just spoke with a CM directly at the CR and they couldn't have been sweeter!

I know there is a lot going on there, but not giving the guest the proper service is uncalled for and unacceptable. In general we are not complainers but we do expect to get what we pay for plain and simple. I would write to guest services and let them know what happened and how your issues weren't addressed properly and that the staff was uncaring towards your issues.

BTW, if you do try GF, it's an extremely beautiful resort and I'm sure you'll love it.

I sent them an e-mail today, simply stating our issues/concerns.

Like I said, our stay at the CR had both bad and good points, unfortunately the bad outweighed the good.
