Just received 8/3 Docs!!!!!

Just wanted to let you guys know, just in case you didn't read my other post. I tried to book an excursion today, and it was already booked (scuba diving in grand Cayman).

So if you haven't dopne so already, call or email your reservations in before they are all gone

I tried to book the fishing excursion on CC and it was booked about two weeks ago. But I'm not surprised since they can only take two sets of six people. We booked Grand Cayman with Red Barron about three weeks ago.

Still trying to figure out the best excursion for Key West. Hopefully that will be decided by this weekend. We are doing the Mr. Sanchos or Nachi Cocom thing, but decided on going with a taxi rather than renting a jeep.

Nicole

MCazer....thanks for the info....I don't think we are going to book any excursions with Disney, though our friend who is travelling with us wants to golf on Grand Cayman. I started a thread about but did not get much feedback, mainly because 2 of the 3 previous Western cruises have been rained out on Grand Cayman.

I think they had good weather yesterday.

MJ

If I went thru a TA to get reservations will docs come straight to me or will they go to the TA. The reason I ask is because, she (TA) is on a Cruise herself right now and will not be returning until next week. Don't want those docs being returned to DCL just because FED Ex can not deliver.

Nicole

Still waiting impatiently for our docs. We booked through DVC but I do not think that would make a difference. I know....patience is a virture.

Jamie,

To tell you the truth, I think you get them a little later when you book through DVC. We did that last year and our docs arrived 3 weeks before we left.

This time, we booked with cash and they arrived last week!

Still no docs here either.:( Hope I get them soon.

I'll be booking all excursions this week, including Capt. Marvin's for the Grand Caymans. Still have to officially book my Avis car too.

Yes! Finally received docs on Saturday. TA went thru all the paperwork with us which was nice since it is our first cruise. One month two days left!!!!!!

My TA told me I should have my docs at least 2 weeks ahead of time.

I have my room # though, so I think I will call Disney to book my excursions AND to make sure everything is okay.

As for excursions, the official list for my trio:

Key West: Train/trolley tour- also definitely going to Margaritaville
Grand Cayman's: Capt. Marvin's 10AM half day tour
Cozumel: Jeep Safari- and a stop at Carlo & Charlie's!
Castway Cay: Nothing! Just relaxing on the beach...

Man, only 1 month till we leave, and an extra day & we'll be on the Magic!! Can't wait! :)

Yeah, we leave for the start of our vacation a month from today. By this time next month I'll be having drinks by the pool at the Radisson. Then, the next day will be the MAGIC!!!!

MJ -
Since you are our resident cruise expert, can you answer some doc. questions?
1. Do will fill out the "Payment Auth. Form" for our kids or can we leave blank?
2.On the "Bahamas Immigration Form", what do I fill in for the passport number and date of issue if we don't have passports (we opted to do the copy of birth certif. instead)?

Thanks! I just want to have everything filled out before we get to the check-in desk.

Nicole

tinkerbell4two.....you only need one payment authorization form filled out. You do not have to fill out that page in the kids documents.

As far as the Bahamas form, this is new to the document pkg (we used to get a separate slip on the Disney bus.

I would assumed that you just note your BC number and date of issue on it. We always had passports so I am not 100% sure.

ANYONE START PACKING YET????? I just received a new digital camera and was thinking about taking a pic of each of the outfits I was thinking of taking with me. This way I can look at the pics and decide if I really want to take each one. Then I do not have to haul everything out of the closet and sort on the bed!!! Sort of like that commercial where the husband is shopping with the pics that his wife took of the items she wanted him to buy!!!

MJ

What a great idea. I have been putting all of our stuff in one bag, but we are going to San Diego for a family reunion in two weeks and I still have to pack for that. I'll try out all of my outfits on the SD trip.
OK, so is it normal to take 4 cameras? I have my digi camera which goes everywhere with me (MJ- make sure you bring plenty of batteries and upgrade your memory card to a 96 or 128 MB instead or the 8 that they give you; Costco sells them cheap), DDs kid's camera, 2 underwater cameras. DD's camera will act as the backup in the case that anything goes wrong with my digi.
MJ- What kind did you get? I have the Olympus 2040 which has the USB port. It is awesome!
I'm trying to decide on what bags to bring. With two toddlers, two umbrella strollers (mostly for WDW) and diapers for one, I fear we will be bringing a few too many bags: 1 sleeping beauty rolling suitcase, 1 diaper bag, 1 carry on bag for the night before the cruise, collapsable cooler for the grocery run before the cruise, 1 garment bag for the formal nights and 1 big rolling suitcase for all the rest. I'm thinking about shipping one of our bags out to the port before going just because it's just too much stuff to worry about and all of our stuff might not fit in all of those bags. If only the baby could wear a backpack..LOL!!
Many DISers said they would take half the stuff they brought, but I just don't know what NOT to bring. OK, Well, I could leave the portable DVD player at home, but the airline that we are using does not show movies and I'd rather have extra luggage than have fussy toddlers on a very long flight. And my 18 month old is very FUSSY!!!

We still haven't seen our docs yet.:(

I hate to be a worry wart, but at what point should I call my TA and check on them? I know we still have time, but we seem to be one of the last to get them.

Nicole, I am having the same dilemna with packing. I am trying to pack light, but am not succeeding!!!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 3rd.

Hi Nicole...we got a Sony cybershot with 3.8 mega pixels. So far, so good. It also has a USB port. We have two batteries and two memory sticks of 128. Do you think I need more?

We are also bringing a bunch of cameras....the digital, the 35mm, and a bunch of underwater disposables (someone said Wal-mart had them cheap).

We are in the process of buying our daughter a laptop to take away to college (I miss the stroller and diapers!!!). It sad to think we only have about 7 weeks left with her at home (boo hoo, she has to be at school 8/24) and if we get the laptop in time for the cruise I also wanted to bring it to keep the kids (teens) entertained (it never ceases, they always need to be entertained!!!) by watching DVD's and to upload the digital pics on.

BarbaraB....it can't hurt to give your TA a call. You really don't have to worry but just in case something is amiss, you have time to work on it.

MJ

WOW!! LOL. You have more than enough. You should be able to take around 512 photographs plus you can delete on-the-fly so that you don't have to keep unwanted duplicate pics...just keep the best shots. I just bought a 128 MB smart card for mine. So with my 64 and my little 8MB cards, I'll be able to take 400.

We finally have all of our excursions set.
Key West - Waverunner tour around the island
Grand Cayman - Reb Barron Snorkel tour
Cozumel - DCL beach excursion

Nicole

I am still trying to get our group organized as to who wants to do the Capt Marvin Stingray excursion. I definitely want to do it, but some of the teens are iffy.

I made a mistake in my last post...we have two batteries, one 128 stick and one 8 stick (that came with camera).

MJ

hi mj....see you couldn't wait til 7/19/03 to cruise the Western! You will have to let us know how it is.. Remember us from No. Calif? We were on your cruise in 7/7/01...my son Brandon was friends w/ Ashley, etc....He still thinks about them and can't wait for the next cruise next year. Wish we were going this year...it would have been a year this coming weekend! I see you also went again earlier this year? Your dtr IM Brandon once while they were on line on the cruise. With all the cruises, you should become a DVC member! WE recently sold ours.....Have a fun and safe trip.....let me know how it goes....I'm interested in hearing back from you....

Therese in No. Calif.....

Don't worry Teresa....sure I remember you!!!......we are still booked for 7/19/03!!!! Allie talks about Brandon all the time. Ashley and her family are also going on 8/3 (we got a very good deal from DCL because both my hubby and Ashley's dad were rescue workers down at 9/11. That's the only reason we are going again so soon. Mike was supposed to come with us on our 2/23 cruise but the Port Authority cancelled all the police vacations so he could not go. I felt guilty about going without him (for awhile)! Allie keeps asking me if we are still going on 7/19 because she wants to see Brandon. I wanted to become a DVC member 10 years ago but could not convince hubby (he has a phobia about timeshares). For the life of me I could not convince him Disney was different. We could have saved thousands over all the trips we have taken on the cruise and to WDW in the last 10 years.

I will definitely let you know how it goes on the Western!!
Keep in touch.
