just posted on dcl website: fall 2018 booking opens may 18

I'm guessing - just a guess here - that the Bermuda (and possibly the Quebec) itineraries are testing the waters for possibly a more year-round presence out of NYC once the new ships are here. Especially with the routes they already have to Florida and Castaway. That is what NCL and RCCL do - at least Bermuda and Florida/Bahamas routes.

IF this comes to pass, it will make me one happy, happy girl!!

That would be outstanding -- as NYC is only a 2 hour drive for us and no flying required is always a plus! Well worth the parking fees! And maybe (one can hope) that the prices will go down to meet industry standards if those itineraries become common and the new ships enter the market :thumbsup2

Does anyone know when the merrytime cruises start? Do they transition right from halloween to christmas or is there a break in between?

Generally, there's been like one cruise between Halloween and Christmas. Between the cruise that actually cruises over Halloween and the start of Very MerryTime. However, some ships went straight from Halloween to Christmas.

RE: Astoria Oregon - Crossing the Columbia River bar ought to be interesting --- that's one of the places in the world where the port pilots are really, really needed (vs revenue generators). I am surprised that it's taken Disney this long to make this stop. I've also wondered why they just don't sail on up into Portland (ok so it adds 2 days to the trip, but I think that it would be an interesting sail). The channel is sufficient (I think) for the Wonder.

Oregon = Wine and Beer. Astoria currently has 5 breweries (4 within easy walking distance of the port)

Our DD lives in Bend, OR and we just got back from there last week!!! She will be excited to hear this!! And yes, Oregon is beer heaven....Bend is known as Beervana!!! I don't drink beer but had some nice Oregon wines when there!

Porting in Astoria Oregon on the Pacific Coast cruise...! :rotfl2:

Thats basically "my backyard"... not the best the Oregon Coast has to offer (Portlanders usually hit up Cannon Beach or Seaside) but I'll take it. Either road trip or be on it for funsies. :3

Astoria is great we prefer it over the craziness of Cannon Beach or Seaside. Although Florence is my favorite, I love seeing that they will be stopping in Astoria. Great for the local community.

I have only cruised once last year so now i am silver - yay! :goodvibes
Have some newbie questions:
I put a deposit down on future cruise while on board; What are the odds of getting a decent cabin for the 10/27/18 cruise? :confused3
As silver i can book a day before general public correct? Thanks!

Was looking for another NYC to San Juan in November... but the only date that works for us is this AWFUL itinerary (my least favorite!). Well, looks like our November cruise this year will be our last with DCL. It's been fun.

2018 7-Night Bahamian Cruise from New York
11/3, 11/10, 11/17

Day 1 New York, New York
Day 2 At Sea
Day 3 At Sea
Day 4 Disney Castaway Cay
Day 5 Port Canaveral, Florida
Day 6 At Sea
Day 7 At Sea
Day 8 New York, New York

I have to say I'm intrigued. Starting out I had no interest in these. I will have 2 college kids then and I work in a school so fall is pretty much out of the question for us. Seeing the 5 night NY to Bermuda over a holiday weekend is really getting me thinking. :scratchin

I have started a thread for those interested in Quebec-Saguenay-Baie-Comeau ports. I know we are at least two or three DISers living in the Province of Quebec. We can help with port excursion planning, weather, general info, french and stuff like that. :)

Hey now, let's not poke too much fun at Astoria. I LIVE HERE! And actually, it is a fun destination for most people I've talked to. The town really likes them and I feel like they do a lot to make sure people are welcome. They always have greeters/volunteers from town helping people decide where to do. My elementary bus drivers go in and drive the buses to different stops. They do take trips to Seaside and Cannon Beach. We also have lots of breweries, a national park, tons of history, maritime museum, etc. I am super excited to be able to see the Wonder in my town!!!

Seeing the Wonder's eastbound Panama Canal itinerary makes me even happier that I booked the April 2018 PC cruise!

I really like Canada cruises and love Quebec City. However, I'm sure Disney's will have a higher price tag than I'm willing to pay. That's okay, as I already have travel plans for fall 2018.

If you are platinum or gold, I would book it on opening day and then transfer it once onboard, just in case the prices go up over those couple of days.

Yes - it opens to general public that day though, so unless you have ne
ver cruised before you could also book prior to stepping onboard. If you are interested in one of the unique sailings it might be worth it to book one on your own and then reshop onboard to see if it is a better deal.

This is my first DCL cruise so I can't book until 5/18. I hope I remember once I'm on board to book it.

We visited Astoria during a San Fran-Alaska-Vancouver repo some years ago. We really enjoyed our time there - found plenty to do!

I'm sorry, I meant no disrespect! My knee jerk was just it's so little and... normal?... for a port! I mean, it's Oregon! DCL is coming to Oregon of all states! XD

It sounds like I DEFINITELY need to do another road trip soon - I don't recall any of those places at all. Just the tall bridge and going to the Goonies house and honestly I can't remember checking out a brewery other than Rogue (not my favorite but they kind of put us on the map in a way). Which one is your favorite..? My husband is completely on board with going down that day to see her when she ports. Do you volunteer for the ships too? That would be so fun!

Hey! I just got an e-mail from DCL saying their fall 2018 cruises are going to be available May 17. Ahem...BTW...we're PLATINUM!

Announcing Fall 2018 Itineraries
Disney Cruise Line will be back in California for limited-time itineraries. From short getaways to weeklong cruises, your family can discover the best of the Baja Peninsula and Mexican Riviera.

Book early, starting May 17 at 8 a.m. ET

Generally, when trying to price out itineraries not yet released, you can just check the current price (well, the price it was when it opened) for a current cruise. And add about 10-20%.
Newbie question: How do you find out how much a current sailing was when it opened in order to gauge prices for these?

I use cruisefish.

Click on "Finder" then "Disney Cruise Line" (on the left) then click on the ship, and scroll down list to find the itinerary. Then, click on the date of cruise. Hover over a price in whatever category you are interested in. A window will pop up. The price at the bottom of the list is the opening day price.

Love a cruise to Bermuda. We did one pre-kids, back in the day on the RCCL Nordic Prince, . Small ship by today's standards, but we could dock in St. George (threading the needle port with land on both sides and plenty of reef) and actually docked in Hamilton. It was a great time. Bermuda is beautiful. Would love to sail on DCL to Bermuda someday!

Nordic Prince -- classic ship. I did the Nordic Prince with my parents to Bermuda and loved it as it did dock right in Hamilton and St. George. I also did the Celebrity Zenith years ago to Bermuda which was still small enough to dock in St. George. It is a shame the ships from the mainstream cruise lines nowadays are mostly too large to dock right in the ports (although I think Holland America still has a ship small enough to dock right in Hamilton). My most recent stops in Bermuda have been on RCCL ships which were too large to dock right in the ports and dock at King's Wharf. I find I don't appreciate the beauty of Bermuda as much as you really have to get out of the wharf area to explore the island and it is not as convenient. But if Disney did Bermuda in the summer when I can cruise, I would definitely book.
