Just off the Dream 9/23/16...a couple of notes

I like the new policy eliminating personal drink containers. I'm sure recent reports on surface-to-surface transfer of bacteria is their concern.

Keep in mind, the wording is not saying they are eliminating them, they just want you to use a fresh cup for refills. This does not preclude you from using your freshly washed personal cup.

How can they tell if someone has washed their personal cup? Are they going to have personal cup washing stations?

Now I'm confused. We love taking our stay-cold cups, and use furnished cups to refill. The furnished cups are too small, and hard to carrybaround the ship. Don't want to break the rules however.

The policy has always been that they want you to use clean cups at the machine. If you'd like to refill your personal cup using the clean cups, that's fine. I think the sign is trying to drive that message home. I just seriously doubt any amount of signage will change behaviors. It will take monitoring to get people to stop putting their cups on the dispensers.

I was on the same sailing. I'm curious about the all-call thru the staterooms at 5 am on the at-sea day calling for all medical personnel to report to medical. Do the medical staff sleep in random guest rooms so that was a necessary thing to do???? Not complaining. I went right back to sleep. I just remember being startled awake then spending a few moments wondering what was up with that. I half expected to wake up pulling into a port to do a medical transfer. Definitely glad whatever the emergency was it didn't require that.

I'm betting that they pressed the wrong button on the intercom. Otherwise they would have probably apologized for the intrusion (I would hope). Scared the living daylights out of me lol.

Castaway morning (morning before) a dad that I'd seen with little kids came into the concierge lounge rather unhappy about the noise level in his room. I was sitting quietly eating a quicky breakfast. He approached the desk and I heard him say rather loudly that he was, apparently, in the noisiest room onboard the ship. When asked his room number I'm 99.9% sure it was the flip-side of the ship from the room I had. Yes, at 5 am each morning I woke to thuds and dragging above me but I went back to sleep readily enough. My roommate didn't hear any of it. I suppose if you had a baby or toddler who woke easily & wouldn't go back down, THAT would be frustrating. So on the at-sea day when they did the all-call in the staterooms at 5 am, all I could think of was that poor dad being fit to be tied! Poor fella. I do think he had another sit-down with the concierge hosts because the final afternoon we got an unsolicited call from them offering apologies for our very noisy early mornings as well as an OBC to each of us in the room. Was very nice. I never complained because, you know, it's a ship with many people and spaces all in close proximity. We'll hear each other and various functions all around us. It's not a private yacht, ya know?

Wow that was nice of them. We did have some extremely loud neighbors but someone else called and complained apparently from what I overheard so they weren't a problem after the first night. We were towards the aft on deck 9 but I heard similar sounds to that as well. It didn't sound like deck chairs. Not sure what was going on.

We were between midship and forward on Deck 9 and it was very quiet. The only noise we had was on the last night. Sounded like some really wired kids while parents were putting luggage in the hallways. As for the medical call on the intercom, unfortunately I could not go back to sleep after that. I wasn't too bothered though as I realized it was probably a mistake and decided to take my Kindle up to the deck to read while my family slept.

Oh man, sorry you couldn't get back to sleep. That stinks. At least you had great scenery for reading, right?

It's possible that staff might be helping with less-emergent issues in a cabin in the early morning, but now they needed those people for a bigger emergency.

We were on a RCCL cruise where they had first out-of-cabin announcements then IN cabin announcements, I believe 3 times, one very early morning about a missing passenger. Obviously very important. Also very annoying, once we found out during the day that it was a teen who had slept in grandparents' room that night. Mom and dad couldn't have checked there *first*?

Interesting. Now that makes sense.

Oh my. Check the obvious, Mom & Dad. LOL!

We were also on this cruise and agree with most of assessments. Anthony and Jimmy were great, did not feel the assistant cruise director had enough energy. I felt the food was very average. Nothing terrible, but I was expecting more. I have cruised Carnival the last two times and their food was significantly better, but the service is definitely top notch with DCL. I was disappointed that I never got a good "Shutters" photograph of my entire family. The lines were always mobbed with their photographers. We also never did a character picture because the lines were INSANE. I also felt the verandah was a complete waste, it was just too hot and sticky to be outside for more than a few minutes at a time, even at night. I was very disappointed with the Navigators and the app. I liked the grid on the paper copy but had to use the app to get a description. I felt like I missed so much stuff because I didn't know about things being an infrequent cruiser. Also, the wave phones are HORRIBLE. I can't believe they can't get something better than that. And I wish they would convert to magic bands. I hate carrying the lanyard/card around all the time.

First night is cruise casual, 2nd is Halloween, 3rd is Pirate and 4th is dress up optional correct? How many folks wear Halloween stuff to dinner? Pirate stuff? Just trying to figure out what to pack.

Honestly, we saw very few people dressed up in nice clothes on our cruise. Cruise casual is fine any night. I was surprised at how many people were in costume for Halloween and had pirate gear for pirate night.
