Switched from a 7 night package including free dining at POFQ, and a separate 2 night room only stay at AKL to a:

2 night room only at POFQ followed by a 7 night package at AKL including free dining. First of all... It was a few hundred dollars more than I calculated, so I need to Che k on that, but lore perplexing, to CM wanted to be sure I realized it may not have access to out park tickets during those first 2 days. I thought I heard/read/saw that we can have our park tickets days in advance of checking into our package room?!

I questioned that and she said, it's " not guaranteed". Well then, how and when will I know? Confused. If this is the case.... I just might have to switch back :-(

"Access to package tickets" isn't automatic. Yes, you can generally go to Guest Services at a major park or Downtown Disney and obtain your package tickets up to three days before your package starts.

See the Ticket Sticky over on the Theme Parks Advice & Strategies Board for instructions.

So if I do go to guest services to do this, there's a chance they can or will say "no"? It seems like it should either be allowed.... Or not. Weird, right? I did read the sticky a few days ago, but I need to go re read it. Thanks.

It is allowed. It's just that the phone CMs will say its not. But it is.

I have never read of any guest who was turned away from receiving early tickets, if they followed the instructions in Cheshire Figment's Ticket Sticky, "Everything About WDW Tickets," Post #15-I.

The phone CMs have been saying it can't be done, and CF mentions this in his post. However, it is allowed at WDW Guest Relations locations, with no problems. Have your reservation info with you. Guest Relations will call the resort to confirm your info.

As the others have said, it is doable, but the CRO CMs will tell it's not (but keep in mind that your DDP credits will not be available for use until you check in for your package). On our December 2010 trip, we stayed 2 nights room only at AKL before changing resorts where our package started and had no trouble getting our park tickets early. Our first day we went to Guest Relations at AK and requested early ticket pickup and within 10 minutes we were entering AK. I only needed to show a photo ID, but others have reported needing their package confirmation number, so I would have that with you just in case. Good luck.
