Just Let the Man Propose Already! An Engagement Trip Report-Final Thoughts, 2/23!

After that we caught ITTBAB, I’m the only one who wanted to but I insisted. It’s cute, and I love getting up close to the tree.
Look Familiar?:

Haha, gee I don't know where I've seen that before?!

I just found your TR. I really liked the pictures of the hat tour!

Congratulations on getting engaged!!!!

Hello, and thank you! I'm so glad you found me since you were one of the loyal readers of my first TR ...the one I never got to finish because life got in the way! But I am determined to finish this one :goodvibes

Love all the hat pics!!! I have to say...the pic of your family in front of the castle is one of the best night time PP pics I've ever seen! You guys lucked out finding the good PP peeps!

Ok I'm back! I want to get this TR done by the end of the month so I can start a PTR for our June trip...let's see if I can do it, please leave lots of comments, your fun messages motivate me ;)

Let's see...we left off revisiting GMR. Well, our mission was not accomplished. This tour guide was worse than the last. And the "cowgirl" who "took over" our ride car was even worse. The sweaty looking animatronic Sigourney Weaver could have done better! I feel like writing a letter, they need a new audition process or something.

After our mediocre visit to the movies, we rode Star Tours. Gotta love the preshow lady's hair. Always good for a laugh. They also had some great tshirts in the gift shop. A storm trooper eating a mickey ice cream bar? Priceless. Too bad I'm not a Star Wars fan...which should make our next trip interesting since we'll be there during Star Wars weekends yippee :rotfl:

I believe after our voyage to the moon of Endor or whatever its called we decided to visit Walt at One Man's Dream. Last year DBro and his gf, who was also with us, decided they didn't want to do this, but waited to tell us that until we were already inside and a very interested DF was bummed he only got to see half before we left. So this year I promised we'd be back, and I'm glad because I think it's really cool. We even stayed for the movie. We were very into the videos this vacation!

Next, it was off to the animation studio. The poor animator, the one who draws Mushu in the beginning, had some sort of disability and could not talk normally. I felt bad for her but no one could understand a word she'd said and the crowd got very restless. Still glad we stopped here though because we got some great shots with my favorite mouse in his best outfit (IMO):

I wanted to do the drawing lesson, but that's on the list for June because the guys wanted to see Lights, Motors, Action and I obliged. Last time was DF's first time seeing it and some of the big stunts didn't work that day for some reason so the show turned out to be less than thrilling, he needed a redo. On the way I stopped for a raspberry lemonade icy thing at the snack cart outside of TSM. I love these, but it wasn't good as the ones at MK.

The guys loved the show. I didn't love the burnt rubber smell so I busted out the advil  At this point our TSM FPs were ready though so I was excited.

I must rant here for a minute first, though! Has anyone else noticed a lot of pushing and shoving in the FP lines? It's like the time on the clock changes and people make a mad rush for the line the minute their fast pass time is up. Maybe it's just my bad luck, but this trip I got crushed by the masses trying to get in the FP lines multiple times. And by the end of the trip I'd had it. We were handing our passes to the TSM CM, when this group of 6 adults tries to literally ram their way through past group. Their "ringleader" who started the shoving stomped right on my foot, and very hard, like super painful! Two of the women got through, but the other woman and three men were still behind us when we finally made our way through. The ringleader has the nerve to turn to me and say "hey, please let my husband and the rest of the group through." I have no problems being honest, so I said "If you hadn't mowed us over, you'd still be standing with them". She just stood there with her mouth gaping. We let them go, I was ready to go off even more on her by my wise family stopped me, but not after a stare down. I called her a very un-Disney like, un-lady like word loud enough for her to hear, and she was not happy. Not my proudest moment by far and I still feel bad for being so ugly, especially on vacation, but I had looked down to see the entire top of my foot was black and blue from her running me over. Grrrrr I hate rude people!

Ok, sorry that was way too long but I had to vent to my Disfriends who are such good listeners. Thanks guys, I feel so much better :rotfl2: TSM was great, I still loved it and we laughed about the mean pushy lady afterwards.

Our line bad luck ended there, though. We walked over to ToT and found a 10 min wait! We love it so much we rode three times in a row. We were going to try RnRC but decided against it for another trip on ToT (:lmao: looking back we were kinda obsessed with it this trip). It was dropping us like 10 times each ride, so we couldn't resist!

I forgot to mention that we had a Cape May ADR for this night, but canceled it for more park time since DHS had pretty short hours that week. I love Cape May and was sad to drop it, but it was worth the extra ride time in the end. However, this left us with the dilemma of what to eat. DBro again decides he's had enough park food :sad2: So we go back to the car and drive around the main drag by our resort. After much haggling, the group decides on...Wendy's. Ugh, worse than Quiznos! What is the deal?! I love a chicken nugget as much as the next girl but I was not pleased and quietly vowed to DF that I'd never be eating like this on a Disney vacation again.

Either way, it was still a great day at DHS. I realized that this update has very little pictures. I think I wanted to soak everything up the last few days instead of spending lots of time taking pics. But to treat my wonderful readers to a visual, I'm throwing in some old pictures from last year's trip (some that never made it into my old TR). In keeping with the theme, they're all from MGM (because it was literally the last week it was called MGM!!):

RnRC, the one warm day of our 2008 trip:

The boat from Boardwalk to DHS. Look I had so much hair last year!

Oh and, 3D glasses:3dglasses ...I never take pictures of those!

It was January, but still decked out for Christmas!
n9008981_35409465_5099.jpg

January 2, soooo crowded!
n9008981_35385149_74.jpg

And we did make it to Cape May last year! This is how you cram a 6'4 man into a high chair, thanks Goofy!

Hope you enjoyed that little jaunt down memory lane. That's all for now, but I'll back with more soon. Up next: Our last full day :sad1: But one of my favorites! We spent it at MK of course...lots of rides, resort hopping, and dinner at Whispering Canyon!!

Love all the hat pics!!! I have to say...the pic of your family in front of the castle is one of the best night time PP pics I've ever seen! You guys lucked out finding the good PP peeps!

Thanks!!! We are hoping to make that castle pic our 09 Christmas Card. We did get so lucky with PP people, we didn't get a ton of photos but the ones we did get were awesome!! :goodvibes Thanks for reading, and glad you liked the hats, we had sooo much fun doing that!!

Ok I'm back! I want to get this TR done by the end of the month so I can start a PTR for our June trip...

When in June are you going again?

I believe after our voyage to the moon of Endor or whatever its called we decided to visit Walt at One Man's Dream. I'm so glad you did One Man's Dream. We do it every year and it just makes me sad that so many people just walk by it! :sad2:

Wooooo! You go girl! :woohoo:

Oh my gosh! Awesome! Did you have to get out each time and walk back through the line?

I agree that the GMR is only as good as the "actors" you have with you. :thumbsup2

We haven't done the animation studio yet - I really need to add that to our list!

Loved all of the pictures. :goodvibes

We are going to be there June 6-13th. I cannot wait, less than 4 months away! And we will totally be back at One Man's Dream, you are so right about it. I feel like its a way to pay respect and it is soo interesting!

We did have to keep walking back through the line to ride ToT but I love the line so I was fine with that. And DM was not riding this day so we'd stop and say hello to her before jumping back in line again :rotfl:

Oh, and thanks for the support! It took a lot but I was proud of myself for standing up to that lady!

Thanks! You should totally do the animation studio, it has become a must do for us because it is so fun!

That's awful about the lady stomping on your foot. I hope someone did that to her so she can see how it feels!! Some people can be so rude. I just don't get it. What is another minute in line instead of plowing thru everyone! Good for you to say something to her. It's one thing for kids because they are so excited but I would still make sure they didn't plow anyone over:goodvibes Enjoying your TR!

The pictures of you and Mickey are really cute!

I'm sorry you got your foot stepped on. I'm glad you said something to them, though. I hate it when people push in front of you and then expect you to let their whole group ahead. I don't ever have the nerve to say anything, but I wish I did.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes the 3D glasses pictures! ;)

all caught up again!

as for the rude foot stomping lady, I think that sometimes you need to speek up .... maybe the next time they will think about their actions before someone else gets hurt. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the engagement, graduating from Grad School and teaching! I am a teacher and so I know what you mean about traveling during crowded time.... but the long hours are fun too! Enjoying your report and your pictures!

Ugh yes I couldn't have said it better myself...I felt silly writing about it because looking back it was not a huge deal in the grand scheme of the whole trip, but peoples behavior in the line had finally gotten to me and I cracked!

Thanks for reading glad you like my report! :goodvibes

I felt so brave speaking up, hence why I had to share the whole experience, plus being really angry and needing to vent :lmao:

The 3D glasses are so funny looking they are just meant for pictures, you are definitely not alone!!

That was what I was going for...and I think it worked because she was speechless. I don't know if I'd ever do it again because I don't like to let the little things get to me, but it was vindicating to do it that one time!!

Congratulations on the engagement, graduating from Grad School and teaching! I am a teacher and so I know what you mean about traveling during crowded time.... but the long hours are fun too! Enjoying your report and your pictures!

Thank you so much!! It is great to hear from a fellow teacher. It is worth having summers off, even if that is the time we go to Disney. What do you teach? Thanks for reading and for your kind words!

I can't believe it is already time to write about our last day! This trip flew by faster than any other I had been on. I just kept telling myself...you'll be back in 5 months! Usually I have to wait a year between trips, so knowing that got me through.

Ok, so I tried to get over the sadness and enjoy this day. It was jam packed so that helped a lot. We really crammed so much into it, I really can't believe we accomplished so much. I'll do at least two installments for this day.

Our last day is always spent in MK, finishing up the last things we didn't get to do the other two days. We headed down Mainstreet and went straight to the bakery for breakfast. We didn't eat at the condo this last day because I HAD to have a cinnamon roll at least one morning. This is tradition, and they are amazing. DF had a croissant sandwich. I tried some and that was good too. YUM! Can't wait to go back there in June.

After that, we headed straight to Space Mountain. The line was only 20 mins still since it was pretty early, and DM decided to be brave again and ride! :woohoo: She ended up loving it! It was so fun, and she said that this is one she'll do from now on. On the way out we got FPs for later in the day. I think we rode the Peoplemover too while we were over there, just because you can't pass it up!

After that it was Fantasyland time. We hadn't really touched this part of the park yet, and even though it was a marathon day it was pretty empty. We rode Pooh and saw Philharmagic, and by that time our Space FPs were up. Boy, did I burn off that cinnamon roll zig zagging that day! Because fter that it was back through FL to ride Haunted Mansion. The ghost host was as hospitable as always ;) I do wish Hall of Presidents was open...I'm a sucker for all things educational. But while in Liberty Square we did pass through the Christmas store and got some cute ornaments. I looked for engagement ones, but no luck.

I believe it was time almost time to visit Neverland at that point, but only after I managed to drag my group onto Small World. Can't help it, that ride was always the first one we did as kids and will have a special place in my heart! I was very content after singing along with those crazy dolls and visiting Peter and Tink. :cutie:

Next on the list was Frontierland. We passed by a dried up Splash (sooo weird to see!) we waited about 30 minutes to ride BTMRR. DS and I got the very last car so I was pleased. By that point we were all starving, so we did our traditional last lunch at Pecos Bills. It was a mob scene! But the food was good as always...I swear the burgers are so much better there. DF gave me a bite of his pork sandwich (hmm, as I write this I am noticing I steal food a lot :rotfl: ) It was so good! I'm getting that in June instead.

Lunch recharged us all and we decided to split up. I wanted to do Tom Sawyers Island and DS wanted to see the Country Bear Jamboree. DM decided to keep her company with the bears, and the boys wanted to come with me. They can't resist a cool cave or a toy gun:

n9008981_39117601_7913.jpg

n9008981_39117600_7572.jpg

The boys thought it would be fun to stand on a single barrel on the barrel bride and see if they could sink...the answer is yes, as evidenced by DF's wet foot. Ugh, boys will be boys :rotfl2:
There was no one over there and we had a great time exploring like the big kids that we are. Pretty view from the bridge:
n9008981_38888540_7952.jpg

After a quick raft ride back over to FL, we met up with the girls and headed to Adventureland. We rode Pirates and poked around in the store. Then I decided it was time to check off another must do on the list: try a dole whip. Everyone else got in the Jungle Cruise line while DF, DD and I ran to get some. Now I know what all the hype was about. So yummy! DF and i split a vanilla pineapple twist, but next time I'm going all pineapple. They were awesome, and since about 200 Brazilian teenagers from a tour group jumped into the FP line while we were waiting, it definitely to the edge off the delay!

Our JC guide was hilarious! A few years back we skipped this ride every year because again, the "actors" were less than entertaining and the jokes stale, but she seemed to have lots of original stuff and had us cracking up.

Upon our return from the jungle, we decided that we had done pretty much all we wanted to in MK. The plan was to shop our way through Main Street on the way out and then resort hop for a bit before our 6:45 WCC ADR. But not before one last PP picture:
n9008981_39050791_7499.jpg

This PP guy was weird and took not so great shots, so I'll stick to that one. We headed for the stores. I lost it when we got to the Emporium. Every year I say I'm not gonna cry, that I'm gonna stop being a lame sap. But of course, the tears started rolling. Thank god for sunglasses! :sad1: The hid my tears as we took one last look back at the castle. It was brief, I can't linger too long because it gets too hard!

But there was such a great night ahead, I cheered up pretty quickly: Stay tuned, next time we have Disneymoon planning at the Poly, fun times at the WL, and a junk food/shopping marathon at DTD. :cloud9:

While you wait, enjoy some more old pics from last trip because I like reminiscing. Hope I'm not boring you all with these! Again, I'll stick with the theme and show MK from our Jan 2008 trip:

CP...last year I actually at ate this meal because there was not an engagement keeping me from my food ;)
n9008981_35385158_3198.jpg

Boyyy was it chilly, please note my gloves. Thank god we had warmer weather in 09!
n9008981_35409469_6203.jpg

And we visited my favorite chef. Excuse the terrible picture of me, I look wind blown and sweaty :rotfl:
n9008981_35409476_8172.jpg

That's all for now. Happy Valentines Day! (oops I'm an hour late) Hope everyone had fun with their loved ones!!

Then it was time for more TT. DS threw another hissy fit, she didn't want to wait. After the fact, I wish we'd just gone along with her because 40 mins became over an hour of us not moving at all. They let about a million fastpasses through. I know we shoulda just got FPs ourselves, but you can't just forget about the standy line altogether! And that music they play in the line gets very old when everyone in your party is grumpy and hungry...oh well, in the end it was worth it, the rain had stopped and we love TT!
n9008981_39050767_6185.jpg

Your DS didn't get this from Aerosmith RnR did she? My DS and I discovered it last year?

Hi! I just read your whole TR! I'm looking forward to the rest. Congratulations on your engagement! :lovestruc

My son is in special ed, so special ed teachers have a special place in my heart

Looks like you guys had fun at Tom Sawyer Island. I haven't been there since my first trip in 6th grade! I think I might have to try it out again next time we go!
