Just Let the Man Propose Already! An Engagement Trip Report-Final Thoughts, 2/23!

No you do not insult and push someone's mother.

Shame they ruined your view and you enjoyment of illuminations.

Glad to see you and your family moved on and did not let them ruin the rest of your vacation.

Yeah, the whole thing was so ridiculous, I really have no idea what would possess them to push my mom, even if they were drunk! Unfortunately you encounter some rude people while at Disney, but we run into more happy, friendly people than rude so I think that's why we let it go and keep going back every year :) :)

Hello! Thank you staying with me, I should have more up soon! Night class is getting in the way of my TR :sad2:

Ok, I have decided to procrastinate. Instead of lesson plans and reading for my grad classes, I'm gonna update!! This is much more fun.

:offtopic: Before I begin, did I mention we set a date for the wedding?! June 25, 2010!! Maybe I already said that, but oh well I will again because I'm super excited and I wanted to fill you all in since you've been so sweet to me :flower3: We have the reception booked, church is all set, and we're meeting
the DJ tonight :) Now if only we can figure out the photographer (anyone know a good one in the CT area?? :rotfl:) I will take a planning break for awhile (read: a day or so because I'm slightly OCD and want it planned NOW haha)

Moving on to the actual report...DB wanted to sleep in again but I refused because I was dying to get on TSM and I knew that FPs run out fast. We stopped just inside the park to at least get a DHS photopass picture taken though since we didn't have any yet:
n9008981_39050780_1727.jpg

And my favorite, even though DM stepped out because she is no fun and hates having her picture taken:p :
n9008981_39050781_2233.jpg

We headed over to TSM and the posted line was only 30 minutes, and I had heard how fun the queue is so we hopped in. Had to get this on the way, we are die hard scrabble players in this family!
n9008981_38888539_7689.jpg

I took tons of pictures while we were in line, hope i'm not boring anyone.
Brings back childhood memories of when I HAD to have a nightlight:

Please don't ask, I don't know :lmao:
n9008981_39117599_7227.jpg

I adored this ride! I also beat DF which is an accomplishment because he's good at everything! We grabbed FPs on the way out and were so glad we did because the return time was already 6pm and the park closed at 7.
After that it was time to check out ToT. DM is the only one in our family who has never ridden this. It is a family favorite, but she's always been too scared because she hates dropping. But for some reason she was extremely brave this trip and went for it! It was so great having everyone on it, she of course was terrified and said she'd never do it again after we got off, but I think we can change her mind within the next year ;)

We took another spin on RoRc after that, but mom sat out this time. She "has a bad back" haha.

Being rockstars:

We stopped for more pictures on the way to GMR.

The Scared one:

Then it was time to see if we could get a better "Tour Guide" for the Great Movie Ride. Will we succeed? Stay tuned for more DHS fun, including some more Drama with less than wonderful tourists and a dinner at....Wendy's. Yup you read that right! More fun to come soon...this girl had better go study so she can finally graduate :scared:

Yay!! A great update!!! :cool1: But please don't let us get in your way of graduating girlie!! We can wait!!! A little....lol!!:rotfl:

You've got a date! A church! A reception place!!! You work fast.....were you expecting this engagement, you're a little too planned...only kidding! I was the EXACT same way with my wedding!! I had most everything planned the first month or two and then we had 15 mos. of engagement until the big day....in retrospect, I would have done it much sooner instead of waiting that long, but it was good to have that time to plan!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Do you have any ideas where you'll honeymoon?;)

Love all the TSM pics you got, they were great! And you guys are too funny!! You had a GREAT photographer at MGM, they got some great pics of you guys and fun one, too!!!

Thanks for sharing..now go study!!!:) We'll be patient for the next update.....kinda....lol!:lmao:

I LOVE that nightlight at TSM. It was one of my favorite parts of the line!

Oh man I goofed big time! Silly me, I posted Day 6 part one before I posted Day 5!! :rotfl: And I even said something about AK and Boma in the previous post. Oh jeez next time I am taking notes since it seems I can't even keep the days straight. I promise I will backtrack and post the AK update sometime this weekend (it was an uneventful day, maybe that's why I forgot to include it!). Sorry readers!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who plans the whole wedding way in advance, I was starting to feel like a crazy person!! I don't know how I'm gonna wait 17 whole months it seems like so long, yikes! But I am enjoying being engaged :goodvibes And I have plenty of time to plan the perfect Disneymoon!

I got my reading done like a good student, so of course here I am back on the boards! New update will be up asap :)

Thank you for all of your nice words!! We loved our DHS day so much, it's usually not my favorite park but this time it was great!

I LOVE that nightlight at TSM. It was one of my favorite parts of the line!

Isn't it so cute?! Between that and Candyland I was so excited! I don't know if I'd do standby for that one again, but it was definitely worth it to see the whole line once.

How is your semester going girlie??

First off - congrats on setting a date for the wedding! :goodvibes

Great pictures at HS! We have NEVER had a Photopass photographer do the silly poses with us. We have such awful luck with PP. :sad2:

Looking forward to Boma! :rotfl:

congrats on setting a date! Our anniversary is June 29th...its a great month to be married....we found out later that it was my grandparents anniversary as well and also my DH's cousins!....good karma!

When it comes to the photographer, take your time....reasearch, research and more research....request pictures of previous weddings...(not just one either, you want to see as many of different wedding as you can)...take notes of the different shots that you like from each photographer so you can make your own list of shots later. Make sure that the photographer can handle a crowd, and make sure that the photographer knows that YOU are in charge of what photo's you want taken. (you would be surprised at the number of people who think they have the right to tell the photographer what to do:sad2: ) Talk to your family and your fiance's family ahead of time about what photos you want taken, with whom ect....they may have some fun suggestions. (we had individual pictures of our grandmothers taken, very glad about that now.) another good idea it to have a good friend or family member who is not in the wedding party to use YOUR camera to take pictures...lots of them...and not just poses...get background and "atmosphere" shots...we did this and some of those pics are soooooo much more important to us. we can look back and see family members who live really far away chatting, or ones who have passed. the day will go by sooo fast, you want all the pictures you can get your hands on so that you can take the time later to really see what your day was!

your update was great! My DH promised me he would never go on TofT after the first time he tried....but I got him on it our last trim 2X!:rotfl: I think he likes it now....or he just wanted to make me happy, :confused3 either way, it is my fav so i will take it!

How is your semester going girlie??

It's going pretty good. Some teachers though think that we have no lives outside of school. I mean seriously, some of the assignments are ridiculous! But, I'm still having fun..I gotta make the best of it!

Congrats on setting your date & getting everything set :cheer2: You'll have to start planning that Disneymoon pretty soon. I'm sure that will be lots of fun!! Do you know where you want to stay? My DH & I will be celebrating our 25th next year (May) & are planning on the Beach Club. You can do a pre trip report & we'll be right here with you.

Yay!!!:cool1: A Disneymoon!!! I didn't want to assume, but was hoping that's what you were planning!;) We had a Disneymoon...it was SO much fun!! Now with kids, we kinda wished we had done a bit more of a relaxing honeymoon since our vacations aren't very relaxing these days, but since you go often, at least you can take some time to relax some too!! It's so much fun honeymooning there!!!! Can't wait to hear all the details!!:goodvibes

Thank you!! I fully intended on asking for the fun poses, but I didn't even have to. My goal in June is to get the Soarin' pose in Epcot, I saw it in another TR and I love it. Next update should be up soon!

Thank you for all of the great advice! I never even thought about so many of those things, your tips are so helpful! My father is a photographer so pictures have always been so important to me, it's definitely something I'm putting a lot of though into before I hire someone.

Yay for June weddings! I have always pictured getting married in June :goodvibes

Ugh I totally hear you about the teachers, I get assigned hundreds of pages of reading a week plus writing assignments on top of it! But it will be worth it in the end when we finally have our degrees ::yes::

Oooo Beach Club how exciting, I love it there. It is so beautiful! We are probably going to end up at the Poly...we visited the last day of our trip and DF fell in love with it and said we HAVE to stay here, which is fine by me!!!

Yay!!!:cool1: A Disneymoon!!! I didn't want to assume, but was hoping that's what you were planning!;) We had a Disneymoon...it was SO much fun!! I'm so excited for it!! We tossed around some other ideas, just to try something new, but we just love Disney so much and never get sick of it. You just can't beat it! We know we want to stay at the Poly because it's very romantic and I love the theming. You're right, we definitely want to relax more on that trip and it seems like the place to do it. And I want to try and book a Wishes cruise! We did the Illuminations one last year and loved it, it would be a nice honeymoon treat I think. I'll keep you posted on all of the details, of course!!

All right, sorry about the mix up readers, but here is Day 5, which came BEFORE DHS haha. I decided to let up on my Disney tour guide/slave driver routine and allow us a day to sleep in. I’m not even the parent and I tend to run the family vacation, as you can see! We had an 8am Boma ADR and DM switched it to 1030, I was fine with that since it was our AK day and while this park is great, it is nowhere near my favorite and doesn’t take long to do anyways.

The drive to breakfast was short and sweet since Orange Lake was literally 5 mins from AKL. I LOVE this resort, I think it is just gorgeous and I want to stay there so badly. DF doesn’t agree, so for now I’ll settle for visiting! He and I wandered over to Jiko to just see it and look at the menu since this is on our list for our June trip while DM checked us in. We were seated within 5 mins. I paused just long enough to order a glass of Jungle Juice (after reading so many people gush about it here on the boards!) before I made a beeline for the buffet. The food here was fabulous. Again, sorry for the lack of food pictures, I meant to take them but I guess I was too busy chowing down to remember! They had your standard eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc., but some other African inspired things that the boys loved. They had an omelet bar too, I got a cheddar cheese one, so good! I really liked the pastries too, they had killer muffins, cinnamon buns and chocolate croissants. And the fruit selection was great too. I had three glasses of jungle juice when all was said and done, it was sooo good! I can’t remember what was in it besides guava and orange but I was in love. We had done Boma for dinner twice before and really enjoyed it, and breakfast was just as yummy. I love buffets because of the selection, but I tend to not eat very much at them because it’s just SO much food, but that is never the case at Boma.

We wandered around the lobby and gift shop on the way out, then drove over to AK. We parked next to a van full of people who had DRIVEN down from CT. Yikes, I could never do that!

The crowds were very light that day. DF and I stopped for a quick picture or two.

Photopass people like to make newly engaged couples kiss in the pictures!

Most of us wandered over to the KS line while DB ran to get EE FPs (I did not envy him, running on a very full stomach!) The wait for the safari was only about 20 mins.

Our guide kinda stunk, he sounded like a disgruntled radio DJ who was bummed to be stuck working at WDW. But we did see lots of great animals. At one point, a rhino came so close to our car that I thought he would ram it!
The almost attacker:
n9008981_39132538_6797.jpg

We also got a great view of a lion, but the jeep was moving too fast to catch a good picture. Oh well, this was the best I could do:
n9008981_39132539_7134.jpg

After our trek through the Savannah, we wandered through the Pangani trail.

The gorillas fascinate me.

By then it was already time for our EE FP. Photopass on the way:
n9008981_39050778_683.jpg

And a shot of a very entertaining monkey:
n9008981_39132541_7848.jpg

We are all rollercoaster junkies (minus mom), so we love EE. The backwards part gets me every time! We got off and got right back in line since standby was only 30 mins, and I heard the waiting area was cool. It did not disappoint! The attention to detail at Disney always amazes me. There was a little store and museum in the queue area. DM sat out this time and got us more FPs for later while she waited (told ya we love it!)

To pass the time before the FPs, DB decided he wanted to see Flights of Wonder. We all agreed it would be fun to try something new, so we caught the next show. It was very interesting! The birds was very impressive, and DD got to participate! They needed volunteers to video tape while an owl flew over their head, and he got to do it.
Said owl:
n9008981_39132542_8201.jpg

Brave father, after getting his camera grazed by the owl:
n9008981_39132544_8936.jpg

They brought out a bald eagle which was the highlight of the show for me.
n9008981_39132545_9290.jpg

After that we caught ITTBAB, I’m the only one who wanted to but I insisted. It’s cute, and I love getting up close to the tree.
Look Familiar?:
n9008981_38888537_7166.jpg

I forgot to mention in my earlier DHS post that when we did Muppet Vision 3D, the sprayer above my seat was broken (the one for the part when fozzy quirts the flower at you) and dripped water on me for the ENTIRE show. Well guess what, that same thing happened here! Something was dripping on me the whole time. Me and 3D movies don’t mix apparently, which is sad because I do love them.

We used our EE FPs and then headed to Dinoland. We rode Primeval Whirl since it was only a ten minute wait, then rode Dinosaur. DS sat out, she doesn’t like how jerky it is. I must confess that I scream like a baby when the Carnotaurus pops out at you. I’m such a nerd but it freaks me out!

At this point it was already 4, the park closed at 5 and we had done everything we wanted to do. We grabbed some snacks on the way out, I got a cookies and cream mickey ice cream sandwich, yum! We did some shopping too. DF found an adorable Eeyore antenna topper for his car. On the way out we caught one last PP picture:
n9008981_39050779_1210.jpg

On the way back to the resort, we were debating where to eat dinner. DB insists that we go to Quiznos, there is one on the property and he loves it there. God knows why, the kid likes the simple things I guess. He would not give up on it! Finally we all gave up and just agreed to get sandwiches there for dinner. Ugh, I hate eating non Disney food when I’m down there, off property or not. And this was not the last time we stopped for fast food on this trip! More about that later…oh well, food is food. It was still early at that point so we went to the pool right after and played more shuffleboard for the evening until it was time for bed. It was very relaxing, it was nice and warm the whole trip so we got in lots of pool and hot tub time!

Next up: I’ll finish Day 6 (haha) DHS so stay tuned!

Ooo I almost forgot! I had to post this. We were eating breakfast before living our villa that day, and looked out the back window to see these guys:
n9008981_38888538_7421.jpg

We see lots of flocks of wild turkeys here in CT, but I had no idea they had them in Florida! Very strange sight, that's for sure!

Thanks! I hope someday in the near future we get to read your proposal story! How long have you and DBF been together, a long time right?

I think I will use some of these pictures for announcements/save the dates because I love them and then I don't have to pay to have more taken :)

Just found your TR from another girl who got engaged in Disney World (last may) and we're getting married this May (and having a disneymoon). We actually just bought DVC so we have THREE trips planned for this year, I'm ecstatic!

Your proposal is super cute too.

I used a picture of us kissing, made it black and white for the photopass cd and put "Where dreams come true..." underneath it. I went to zazzle and made postcards and used those for my engagement party, we had a big outdoor to-do in july. It was an AWESOME way for all of our families to meet and all of our relatives and friends LOVED the postcards. Cheap, easy, and adorable!

I have the picture that I used in my trip report (that i still haven't finished)

Sorry to hijack... I just have a lot in common with you apparently!

Great pictures! :) I am so torn on riding EE. I'm not "scared" I'm just more worried about feeling sick and then feeling that way for the rest of the day. No Kali River Rapids?? That's our favorite!

We haven't done the Flights of Wonder Show yet, but we plan to on this trip. I've seen tons of bald eagles while visiting Alaska. Seriously - it gets to be like seeing a pigeon. :rotfl:

Hi!! It's totally fine, hijack away, I love having new readers! :goodvibes Congratulations on your engagement and coming wedding!! Your picture sounds so cute! I have to head over to your TR and check it out!

I'm so jealous, three trips that is awesome! We want to buy DVC asap after we get married!!

You should definitely try EE, it is very smooth and if my dad can ride it without getting sick then you can! He gets motion sickness very easily and he loves EE. It is worth it to see all the great details and theming, Disney did a great job!

We have bald eagles here in CT but I've never seen one up close. I guess because I'm very patriotic? I dunno it made me emotional to see one up close what a dork right?!

Not at all. They're very magestic creatures. :goodvibes I got to see some up close at a sanctuary in Alaska, but they also fly all over the place there. We had them in Maine, but I probably only ever saw one once in my life while living there.

I forgot to mention...I so wish we had done Kali River Rapids! I won't go on that one if it is too cold, but it was a pretty warm day, about 75-80 I think, but I was overruled...some people in my party didn't like the idea of being soaked down to their underwear, I can't imagine why :lmao: But you better believe DF and I will be hitting it up in the June heat!!
