Just how different are crowds middle June versus Columbus Day week (Oct. 10-18)

Any help appreciated...

For the past 2 years we have vistied WDW in October when our kids are out for Fall break. This year the break is Oct 10-18th which is Columbus Day week. We just had to change our WDW dates to June 19-28 for various reasons. I am scared the crowds are going to overwhelm us. I have looked at the touring plans ratings and Oct 10 I think is 4s and 5s, June is all 8s. Can anyone give me a little detail in line wait times in June?

In the past we have always been there the week before Columbus day and the crowds got really bad the closer it got the Columbus Day holiday. We are used to waiting 20-30 minutes in line for headliner attractions.

Thanks for your input. Also how differnt is the weather? All books say Oct is usually highs in mis 80s and June highs in lower 90s how much difference is that does not sound like much.

I've been there mid-July 3 times and the week of Columbus Day 1 time. I was SHOCKED that the crowds were so similar! I didn't know about the schools that have a Fall break that week. If I remember correctly, wait times in the afternoons were more like 45 mins for most popular rides, but I hear this year they expect higher crowd levels than they have had in years. If you use fast pass and early entry you should be ok. It's a bit hotter though.

As far as I know, there is no fall break for our school in NY, but there are a few Jewish holidays for which the kids are off. We went in 2003 during this time, and found it pretty crowded during the afternoons. I would say at least 40 minutes wait for the popular attractions, longer for many attractions in Fantasyland. We have never been in the summer, as I would prefer not to mix the humidity with the crowds and my kids. Last year, we went in Sept, and although it was a bit hotter than Oct, the crowds were minimal. People who are trying to avoid the hurricanes that plagued FL last year will probably put their vacation off till Oct, so I would think it will be more crowded than usual. Also, the extensive marketing Disney has been doing has been paying off for them. I heard attendance has been up all year. Let's cross our fingers that not too many people find out how great Oct is!
I wonder how many states have a fall break during that time?
