I was there in May. I had requested 50s or 70s buildings top floor facing the lake. I got third floor 50's Building 1 (Lady's Building) on the corner right next to one of the bowling pin stairwells. I was as close as I could possibly be to Classic Hall (unless I had gotten a room on the first floor), but on the opposite end from the lake. I was really glad I did not get what I requested. I was closer than the people in the 60's Preferred building. At first I thought it might be a noisy location being so close to Classic Hall, but I never heard a sound. I guess because people with kids had strollers and so had to go all the way down to the elevators I never heard anyone even walk past my room. Being on a corner I only had a room to the left of me and that lady was also traveling solo, so was very quiet. I could stand right outside my room and see both the 50's bowling pin pool and the 60's Hippy Dippy pool, but was far enough away that I never heard any pool noise. The room number was 1312, by the way. Oh! mousekeeping also left me three towel animals everyday I was there, even though it was obvious I was traveling solo. She had them in everyone's windows every night when we returned from the parks.
I stayed there two nights before checking into BWV for five nights, then was coming back to POP for two more nights, so the morning I checked out I went down and asked what the chances were of me getting in the same general location when I returned in five nights. The CM said she would see what she could do about blocking the room off for me. When I returned five days later I asked a different CM and told her what the first CM had said. She said 'I don't think she could do that', but when she checked, she laughed and said 'I guess she could, you're in the exact same room'. To get from the buses the easiest way from my room was to just run down the stairs, go around where the DME check-in is, then walk across the front of the resort to the buses. I was maybe 2 minutes at the most from Classic Hall.
I'm going back to POP in Sept and requested either the 50's or 70's top floor. Some of the 70's are just as close as the 50's and 60's, but will be closer to the buses.
The building we were in was next to the food court off to the side of the baggage area. It faces the drive up area/parking lot. My sister also stayed in the 50's section also but they were on the back side closer to the lake and were farther away from the food court. We always request the 50's and usually that's were we end up. We've stayed at several other Disney resorts (deluxe, moderate and all-stars) and since Pop opened thats were we try to stay. You can't beat the price and I love the bus service - by far the best I've encountered at Disney.
