Just had LONG talk with supervisor about codes

And you can bet your last dollar, with all the money I've spent at Disney World over the years, Disney DOES have to explain themselves as to why I'm not being treated the same way everyone else in the "general" public is.

Don't kid yourself. Each one of us is just a drop in a vast of sea of humanity that flows in and out of WDW each day. Even putting everyone together on DIS we're just a small, minor group.

Think about it. If a large group of people who go to WDW read DIS, would any tips and recommendations in here be useful any more?

We're insignificant to the beancounters of Disney. Everyone on DIS can stop going to WDW and the Mouse will not feel a thing. They'll actually be happier because normal families out there don't know how to milk WDW for all its worth. They just book the vacation and go.

Unless you have a high powered lawyer on the side who's willing to duke it out with Disney, good luck.

Ok i'll be h onest h ere. I was looking to book without a discount code, but when i finally got through, just 2 minutes ago i went ans asked if the code applied.... i didnt get the resort i wanted but still got a great quote. and i even asked if there were strings attached and i was told no.
I got :
AKL second week of december
185/nt savannah with bunks

(The bolding is mine.) Everyone single one of my family members who has ever gone to Disney has done just that. It drives me nuts!

To top it off, they sometimes complain about the awful time they had! Hello! You are 2 adults, 1 teenage boy, 2 teenage girls and 1 younger daughter. Of course All-Stars is not going to be a good fit for you (privacy concerns) even with 2 rooms.

Yeah, food is expensive and you are all big eaters. I would have suggested the Dining Plan or different restaurants but did you ask? Nope.

I'm sure Disney likes seeing them a lot more in terms of $$$ than my immediate family.

Upgrade yes. But the Mouse ended up taking more money from me. Have to go sell more blood now.

I am hesitant to get into this anymore. But here goes anyway. I called three times. The first time I picked an arrival date I knew was inside the dates and the Poly. I didn't try to use the code, I just asked if there were any discounts available. He says no. I say I have a friend who got like 40% off that same week. He says there is nothing available to me like that.

I call last night. I try the same thing again and get a big fat no. So I call again and decide to just be upfront about what I want. I want to use *** code. THe guys is very nice. He asks if I want a package, yes I do, he asks if I want dining, no I don't. Well, he tells me the code I have has to include dining, but the code I need to do package without dining is *** and he proceeds to go through resort after resort telling me what's available and quoting me prices. THe poly of course is booked up for this code.

Once he put in the code it brought up what was available to book with it during my time frame and I booked WL. He quoted me a price on GF also. I booked WL last night but today called back and switched to GF. They quoted me the same price the guy did last night. When he read back my package information today he did quickly say something about with something something special, I'm thinking he said Jan/FEb special. I don't know. But he didn't change the prices. I was at work and didn't have anymore time to fool with it so I didn't ask. I also said my husbands and daughters name before I asked for the code, so as far as I know if its a pin code it could be attached to my husbands or daughters name, who knows.

The point is, when I quit trying to beat around the bush with it and just said I would like to use *** code he helped me. If they come back and take it away then they take it away. We will still go, just not that week and not that resort, but we'll go.

Thanks for the info, but I would be SHOCKED if they "undo" what anyone has already confirmed.

Of course they are gong to say they are looking into it, but undoing confirmations is not good for public relations, especially for all the folks that didn't use the "I lost my pin" routine but instead were offered the deal by a CM. I'll believe there are reversals/adjustments happening when I hear it.

They have already pulled an "undo" and offered just one night at the discounted rate & remainder at the regular resident published rate...One that was not only confirmed..but paid in full! So do not put it past them. While I am not saying they will or will not in this case, I am saying that have done it before.... involving a computer glitch.. while it may have been a computer glitch.. it was a "live CM" that took my credit card over the phone to pay off the balance due (the night after my ressie was made online)! It was about 2 weeks later... they called me up & told me I can only have one night at my CONFIRMED PAID IN FULL rate...

You know, everyone here, including me, is thinking that maybe CM's screwed up.. well maybe they didn't. Maybe this could all be a part of the year long celebration of making wishes come true?? 99% sure this isn't the case, but there is always that 1% possibility that this is what they are doing. So those that have not gotten it... maybe your call sequence was not the sequence..

boomhauer..... wouldn't you be embarrased if you called up raising holy you know what to them.. and this was just a part of the year long promotion. Would you call & give them a piece of your mind if you didn't get a mickey ears hat on Sorin.. but the row in front of you did? I don't mean to sound like I am putting you down, I just want you to stop & think about things if you really were to call and giving them a piece of your mind. Remember, they do not need your money or mine for that matter.. they don't need any of us here... they have more than enough guests without us.

All we can all do is wait & see what happens next if you already have a ressie. If not, you can contiune to call, but I would not pester & say.. so & so "got this rate, why can't I?" Doing that, you may never get it.. they can flag your name in that system. Being nasty to them will not get you where you want to go.. and can backfire on you... ;)

I should answer that by saying I have never once, in any way shape or form, been nasty to ANYONE at Disney. Just not the way I am.

All I want, honestly, is an answer. Why are some people getting this general discount, and why am I not? I tihnk I have every right to ask. Again, for the 5th time, I'm not asking why I didn't receive the pin code. I want to know why is it, that others that haven't received the code are being told that they DON'T need thr code to get the discount, yet I (as well as others) are being told something else.

Bad analogy with the Mickey ears thing. We're not talking about a $4.00 hat. We're talking about over $1,000.

I called and was direct in my approach telling them I had code***. He said that code was good but not for my travel dates. I thought all letter codes were general codes? I asked if I had a pin attached to my name and he said no I didn't. Just call and be direct using the code. I'm sure that at this point they would have cut the use of this code off if they were going to.

Let us know if anyone gets a call, I bet no one will!

I completely agree. If it is a general code (which I think there is still debate on obviously lol), then it should be available to EVERYONE. That is simply not the case and if it were part of YOAMD, then people shouldn't be told that it's a general code, it causes too much confusion.

I say good for you Boomhauer, I don't think you've ever indicated or presented yourself in a manner that has seemed whiney nor "nasty", you've simply stated you want an answer and I don't think that is too much to ask for at all.

My plan was to pay my reservation in full in hope that a fully paid vacation my not be cancelled. The problem is that I can find my Amex. I eliminated all my other credit cards in an effort to stay out of debt. And now the Amex is missing. I just hope the rate stays.

December 7-16. From my understanding, the time frame is December 9th on.

So, I could go 2 ways. Tell them to check from December 9, and then add 2 nights without the code. Or, I could see if they'd do for me what others claim they've had done for them - Give them the 2 extra nights with the code.

The CM I was speaking with promised he'd call me back when the computers came back up. They came back up 20 minutes ago. I'll be surprised if he calls.

Boom:

****There's your problem! ****

Your checkin date MUST fall on one of the days in the promo.. or you have to check out on the third day and make a new reservation.

It really is that simple. Call back and ask about a reservation starting on December 9th. You will find the code applies at least at certain resorts.

Anyone who has gotten extra days out of the promo.. got them on the END of their vacation .. not the start. Go back and check the posts if you don't believe me. I've followed this like a hawk and NOBODY has gotten the promo on dates that start outside the ranges applicable. My post explaining everything about the codes explains this -- and has since I posted it.

Doesn't explain why I, too, cannot get the discount. I have essentially given up. I was told an irrevocable NO 10 different times over this entire week. My dates ARE flexible, and DO start within the dates. I called and directly asked for the specific 3 letter code, the last 6 times. NOPE! I even had someone else who was able to book it themselves call in for me. They were shocked when they, too, were told it is a pincode only offer.

Beth

Canadian Guy is correct if you are trying to book a reservation beginning outside the code dates, you have no chance of getting it.

You will have start the reservation on Dec. 9. You will have to pay rack rate on the 7th and 8th or hope for an AP discount on those.

Have you been doing this every time you called? :confused3

I've already stated that we've decided to stay at SOG, but when I was actively looking for a discount for a WDW hotel, I was told "No" a few times and my actual start date for my vacation is December 9th; so either way, something ain't jivin' here.

Editing: My Mom has also called since she is travelling with us (with a vacation start date of Dec 9) and she was also told no.

I can't argue with your experience.. But you know of course there are THREE three letter codes.

One for room only..

One for room & tickets

And one for Room, Tickets and Dining.

Everyone talks about THE code.. but there are THREE. And you have to the use the one applicable to your situation. Use the wrong code on the wrong package (regardless of dates) -- no discount will appear.

And I'm presuming that you are being flexible with your resort request?

J

All I can say is WOW! I just joined this board today and I am shocked. The posts that I have read regarding this situation are outrageous to say the least. I wanted to let you all know how it looks to people who are reading your boards.
That being said I called this morning to book a new vacation and I asked if there was a code attached to my name and told her I had heard about the *** code. She said that I did indeed have a code attached to my name and that I could use that OR the *** code but that the *** code was a better discount. Ok I said gimme the better deal. Later this afternoon my mail came with a promotional card in it from Disney. There were no 3Letter codes on it but there was a number above my name. I called to see what the better deal was and was told that they were both the same. THE SAME DISCOUNT being offered two different ways. I used it once by asking for the code *** and I used it on the other vacation by telling them I received the card. That being said I did'nt "get one over on Disney" I simply asked about whether or not I was eligible for a discount. I was. That doesn't mean everyone will be. I don't believe I have seen an AP holder yet who has gotten so that it may not be a general code but a code that you don't fill the requirements for. What are those requirements? Who knows? Perhaps you have to be a new comer who did Disney the WRONG way last time and is looking for good, helpful kind people to give her advice on making her vacations nicer. :confused3 I just know that it doesn't serve anyone for the ones who didn't get it to wish (even secretly) that those that did would lose it. I am an above the board kinda person and if Disney wants to take back something that I got honestly- so be it.
