Just had LONG talk with supervisor about codes

did everyone who booked with the code receive there paperwork in the mail? I did yesterday and everything seems to be in order. THe CM I booked with said the code I have was good until March 15 BTW.

I'm still trying to figure out what code the are referring to, a large number of the posters state that they got park hoppers and dining, those codes are already out there for ticket upgrades, so my question would be how many of these are just Room only reservations? looking at another thread that just started today stating that people are getting the code backs this up even more, most of them refer to park hoppers and dining, isn't that code available to everyone? and it's not a discount on the room just adds the water parks and park hopping.

The codes that offer 30%-40% off the room are the ones that I keep offering to the CMs and keep getting told they are PIN codes that are assigned to a specific person's account and that I don't qualify for (even though alot of other people on here have used the same codes and are insisting they are general public codes). I've even told the CMs that my dates and resort are flexible and that I'm willing to buy a one day MYW ticket and the dining in order to make it a pkg, but still can't get it.

When I called last Friday and told them I wanted to apply the 40% discount rate, the CM actually gave me the Code and told me I was eligible for my dates. Regardless, of interest, today I called to cancel my trip insurance and here is what the CM repeated to me when verifying all my information....
"we have you booked under the January/February special code for 6 nights......" etc.

So, just another example of what they are calling the code; special, general, postcard, mail, January/February..............no matter how you spell it, it still spells $$$$$$$ savings to me!

She also reiterated that it is VERY common for your dining plan NOT to show on your internet reservation printout.

I got the "B" code and its for room only, which is what i got.
I dont know if its a general public code, and frankly i dont care.Money saved is money saved in my book. The way i see it, they hooked me into taking a trip i hadnt planned on so theyre still getting more $ than they would have.
I dont feel guilty about it, the way i see it, if its meant to be it will be, if not then i guess they will call and revoke my ressie, and i wont go this year. And dont bother telling me how im stealing because i really dont care if thats the way you see it.

Hey guys,
Just a little update. I spoke to a CM this morning who actually made more sense than any I have heard about so far. I called to find out about needing to bring my postcard with me when I travel in Dec. I was concerned because I can't even find my car keys half the time so the possibility of me holding on to this postcard for a year is crazy. She said that I wouldn't need it because I had called and booked it with the information. She said they can't require you to have it at check in because it doesn't state it as one of the specifications on the card and it isn't being told to people at booking. I was relieved to hear that because I was scared after reading these boards that I wouldn't get my rate even though I really had gotten the card. The other thing she suggested was that many people have codes attached to their names and never even know it. She said that the people who are calling and giving the correct dates and asking for the right discounts were most likely already entitled to the discount and didn't know it. She said that those who were not recieving it COULD POSSIBLY (not definitely, since she has no real idea what's happening) be asking for incorrect dates or else do not have a code attached to their name. Apparently this was a major marketing to try to get people to book these slower times earlier in the year and perhaps keep Disney from having to provide even deeper discounts later. I do not believe from speaking to her that she or anyone else has been reemed for giving incorrect booking codes. She made it seem like they were doing their jobs and some people were entitled to the codes and some weren't. IMHO no one "get's one over" on Disney. I can assure you that if people were actually getting improper discount codes than Disney would have stopped this a month ago when it started. I am truly sorry for those who didn't receive discounts. This is my first time getting a discount and I called yesterday to get the discount using *** without even knowing that the code was attached to my name. That is why I was given it. I didn't receive my mailer until late yesterday afternoon after I had booked. So unfortunately, some people won't have a discount AT THIS TIME. Doesn't mean that anyone is getting cheated, just means that some people are getting lucky. That said, hows about everyone wish good things for others and stop the craziness. >bowing< thank you for your time LOL

This makes sense.

When I started reading these threads over a week ago, I got curious. So I called up CRO and a nice CM helped me out. I asked her if there is any discount attached to my name. She looked and said no, but that she would update my information and "push" it out again. She spend some time going over my information, updating all the stuff. She also noted that some of the "checkboxes" were marked as "not to send", which she does not understand. I never requested "do not contact" with Disney. She unchecked those things. She said I should be getting an offer soon in mail or email.

Next day, I called (can't wait) again and this time asked if I qualify for the Z code. Another nice CM looked, asked me to wait, put me on hold for like 5 minutes, and came back to say yes.

I wonder if the CMs at CRO level, in conjunction with their supervisors, can review someone's travel pattern and make determination whether to grant them discount or not. If you get a CM that will go the extra mile, then he/she will spend some time tracking down offers and talk to supervisors. If you get a CM on a bad day, he/she may just brush you off. It's typical with any service industry, I suppose.

you may be right, but my guess is that the typical person that visits these boards understood that this was a pin discount and were trying to sneak in a ressy.

I have to completely disagree with you. I got on these boards over a week ago, someone posted a code (before it was removed) about 40% off. They said nothing about it being a PIN code, and since it hadn't been removed from these boards at that time, why should I think differently. Then I called Disney, gave them the code, the woman said yes it was for anyone and could be applied (I had said I had heard about this code and didn't know if I could use it). So I booked. At no point was I ever trying to "sneak in a ressy". After things started being questioned on these boards, I called back twice (this was still last week), spoke to two different CM's who both told me this was a code anyone could use. Now, as of today, do I know for sure my CM's were correct, no I don't know for sure. But at the point of booking I had no reason to question them. And to be honest, I was quite offended by your accusation.

The poll someone put up last night, last time I checked, had more people that had gotten their reservation than didn't. Has anyone given any thought to maybe the CM's that aren't allowing people to use the code don't know what they are doing? Everyone is assuming that the people that got the code had CM's that messed up. You would think that disney's computer system would not allow a code to go through if there wasn't a PIN attached. Maybe the CM's that are saying no, just don't know how to apply codes. Am I saying that is the case, no, but at this point nobody knows what is going on.

Frankly, I'm just tired that some people who didn't get the codes are accusing those of us who did of cheating the system. We are just getting the deal that Disney is allowing us to get. Will it be taken away, maybe, who knows. But the fact that the people who are bitter about it have called multiple times to try and get the deal, means they would take it if offered to them also.

I realize this doesn't apply to everyone who hasn't gotten the deal. Some people are ticked at Disney (and have every right to be) but are happy for those of us who got it. And this rant was by no means directed towards you. I am just tired of the fact that I found out about a discount, called to see if I could use it, was allowed to, and am now made to feel like a criminal by some who weren't allowed.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Agree 100%.I'd also like to add that as a AP holder this same cry and moan happens when an AP rate comes out and for whatever reason, some folks can get it and some cant. IT happened just this past fall when the October rates came out.Frankly i think that sometimes you just have to be with the right CM at the right time. When i called i originally wanted WL, with bunks but it wasnt available.Without even asking my CM went on to search for varying days and resorts. Some CMs will just say no, can i do anything else for you? It's all in the luck of the draw. I know how it feels to be excluded from a discount, its happened to me as well. But for the folks who feel like we are all somehow "milking the system" i think that you need to look at it from a perspective of some people maybe just got lucky.

But you were not told that you were not ALLOWED to book the AP discounted room -- I haven't ever heard of anyone being told that. When we call about this discount, we are not being told it is no longer available for our dates, or that it's sold out at that resort -- we are being told that it is ONLY for people with the email or postcard.

And no, I am not complaining -- just pointing out the differences. Also, I am still trying to book. SOmeone agreed to try for me today, but is apparently not up and about quite yet -- was thinking perhaps all my methods of approach were just wrong somehow. But I will be booking with the knowledge that WDW may or may not honor the rates. EIther way, no anger here.

Here's throwing a little pixie dust your way , hoping you get it (I don't know if my pixie dust is any good but it is worth a try)

My experience this morning
I talked w/ the best CM who was stationed in Orlando using 407-W#.
I was on the phone with him 30 mins and I did not make a ressie.
I asked first for the WWOD and if there were any discounts for the week of 5/28-6/3 arriving anydate during that time. I told him I did not have an email or pin/code for this time frame or any offer of 30-40% off but that I'd like one if available. He tried everything he could think of. I didn't have the code tied to it for MAY but he indicated that I did for Jan/Feb ---interesting. I mentioned that another CM had tried the other day on another resort and it worked. I asked if another resort would work this time...he again said it would still come up w/ a pin.
Anyway I told him I had recieved several emails in the last 2 wks from disney but no codes. He said to try back. That mailings went out last week.
The only thing he could get me was ZFF (on WDW website) or the ZFC (dining) both are for ticket upgrades.
I asked again about the code and I believe he must of tried it w/out telling me because he said he couldn't come up w/ discounts on the rooms for me. He really tried and was so nice about it. He even tried my husbands name and old addresses. I appreciated his efforts.

I HONESTLY think the people that are getting the discounts have codes/pins/promotions...in their names in Disney's Travel System. Like I said, my DH booked our trip the day BEFORE we received the card, so the information must have been in there.

I don't think most of the people receiving the discounts are sneaky, lying, cheaters as some have stated. I think these terms are out of line because no one truly knows what goes on on the other end of the phone. Whatever the case may be, I think the discounts are legitimate and congrats to those who were able to book trips. For those that did not receive the discount, I feel bad for you, but there is always a next time.

That would make sense, but then there are other posts where disney staff are getting "memos" that they will be fired if they give the discount out to people without pins. So who knows.

And as with all things -- likely the truth is somewhere in between.

I did read the update about the memo, but I'm not sure I believe it. I can't imagine a company sending a memo out telling people they will be fired if they book legitimate packages. What benefit does booking a discounted package do for the agents in Disney anyway? I'm not sure they work on commission, but if they did, wouldn't they be making more money off full price packages, not heavily discounted ones?

There may have been a memo, but I just don't buy that threatening thing. Let's face it why would the travel agents be to blame for what people here are calling a computer glitch. Wouldn't that be an IT problem? Hey, I may be wrong, I know Disney has very strict policy, but if it was so upsetting to the company, the agents wouldn't still be booking packages.

They are probably reading this thread and laughing all the way to the bank.

I've seen people threatened with firing for a lot less.

And the reason they would do that is that they feel they have trained the reps properly and the reps are circumnavigating that training to do things the rep knows to be wrong.

Personally I think the reps are poorly trained and they're doing the best they can with the info they have.

Having been employed briefly at ABC shortly after Disney bought it - I can tell you - when it comes to HR issues they are fairly draconian.
