Just had LONG talk with supervisor about codes

I am fully prepared to cry on the phone if they call me to cancel. I mean a real wailing cry too.:)

I also was told that if it's not peak season then they will apply the 40%, so I booked 10 days from 8/21-8/31

I tried the 2nd week of December - That's Value season. I've tried 7 times now, and 7 times have been told No.

I can't even look mine up online. My first one I could, but when I added two days to the reservation, I can no longer look it up.

There is a central database that is tracking all this information - it's not like every travel agent and CM runs their own little MS Access application on their standalone desktop.

All they have to do is pull all the reservation where pincode = xyz and reservation's name, address and phone. Then do a dup check against the list from marketing of those people with PIN. Anyone who's not dup'ed out is a potential "suspect" that will require more digging into (i.e. slight mispelled name, address, etc). But, like everyone is saying, it's not rocket science.

Exactly. I have no doubt that the powers that be have already run this query, know exactly what's happening and are letting it happen because of the increased bookings.

i think if you arent using the code /pin good for you and stay outta it
people are making it worse by calling disney and tying up agents and supervisors to see if works when they arent using it
people get all bent outta shape if they arent getting something someone else is
if you book it and it doesnt work disney will call and want $ i assume
its really none of our business
off my soapbox now

This is Disney we're talking about here. I seriously doubt they would take away the discounts that were already applied, pin or not, as it could make for some really bad PR for them. Disney would rather save face by keeping the discounts that are already booked rather than risk upsetting thousands of families whether or not they used the codes & pins properly.

A few months ago travelers were offered an amazing deal on a cruise through Expedia only to hear from the cruise line itself a few days later that they were not honoring the price because it was posted on the travel site in error. This caused all kinds of bad PR for the cruise line. A company like Disney does everything it can to avoid bad PR. They've got the best part of the deal here after all, they've gotten people on property, into the parks and spending lots more money on food, drinks, & souvenirs.

Like other posters have said, everyone should be in a "wait and see what happens" mode right now.

Its nobody's fault but Disney. They sent out random discounts and this is what happens.

Won't be hard at all. It'll probably take them about 10 minutes to find all the names, then another hour or 2 to see if they have a pin.

I would bet my reservation, their system has a way of pulling up all reservations that were booked with discount codes VERY easily. Then it's just a questions of matching them all up.

Well if that's the case then why haven't done it!!!!!!

Cuz they're makin too much $$$$ is my theory.

That would be fine - But again, why are some of us NOT getting the discount when we call???

I just don't understand.

If that were true, it would be a general discount code, and those who didn't have the pin (like me) wouldn't have been denied.

Or me! At the moment I am one very unhappy Annual Pass holder. I'm happy for the ones who got the 40% off, but at the same time I want it too and have been refused at least a half a dozen times in the last week. If it's a general code why can't we all get it. I'm not even particular about my dates and am willing to go just about anytime in Nov or Dec, but every time I call I am told it's a pin code and I don't qualify for it. I don't understand how they choose who gets the Emails or post cards, but accept it because it's always been done, but if people are calling without a pin and are being told it's general code then we all should be able to get it.

Are you booking the dining plan? I was told when I made my reservation that you had to include the dining plan to get the discount (I understand there is also a code for room only, but that is not the code I used).

Exactly.

I'm like you. A passholder who's getting no love.

I don't care if I'm called a whiner. It's not fair that some without the pin are getting the discount and others without it aren't.

I emailed Disney about this and all but demanded an explanation. Might not get one, but I'm not giving in without getting some sort of logical answer as to what in the world is going on.

Or taken care of it in the first place.
Hmmmmmmmm.....will be interesting.
At least those who made hotel only ressies can just cancel and rebook through AAA or w/ another discount code.

but a Cm told me that the sky was falling so I am busy running in circles yelling "The Sky is falling the Sky is falling":rotfl2: I have to face it I am OCD Disney and if i didn't have this to fret over then I would be worrying if there was going to be a huricane while I was there or a blizzard for my flight or what ever. . . .

:lmao: :thumbsup2

We are in the same boat--I was denied too. But through the years, I've learned to just sit tight. Just because this code wasn't good for our certain times, does not mean there won't be another. December (for you) and August (for me) is a lonnnng way off as far as discounts go.

It is the Year of a Million Dreams, remember? :) Maybe we should change that to WISHES.

but you can't tell me that Disney isn't THRILLED that they are filling resorts during "slow" periods! C'mon! Brilliant marketing, actually!

I find it interesting that virtually all of the people here who have tried to get the discount have received it. The ones who are ranting and raving seem to be the only ones having difficulty :scratchin

Disney doesn't have to offer a discount to everyone. It is a business and they have the right to offer discounts to certain customers and also to refuse service to others. They don't have to explain themselves!!! You may think they do but guess what they don't! Boo hoo - life isn't fair!

I'm positive if by some off the wall chance, Disney changes my reservation that there will be another offer for my dates (as well as the other ones listed) They are off times and almost always have special deals.
