We finally just got our planner here in Ontario, Canada, and hubby and I are stunned that it's only for 2009! Why did they bother? They sent out a planner halfway through the year, which means in 6 months, they have to start sending out new planners for 2010, or, is this going to become an ongoing thing to have planners late?

This seems like a huge waste of money to us - who pays for the planner? Does it come out of our dues?

I see this as a huge waste of money, trees and energy, but maybe I'm missing something?

I wonder if there will be a planner for 2010 as the 2010 point schedule was included with this years planner.

That makes sense, but we didn't get 2010 chart in our package. This is exactly how I remember one of our planners a few years ago, but not this year.

I will double check again, but if it's a separate sheet, we didn't get it.

This makes perfect sense and a 2010 planner would definitely not be needed.

Thanks, Tiger :)

We just got ours too and the 2010 info was in the back pocket behind the points planning chart. I didn't see it at first until it fell out. Check there. There is just as fold out with the 2010 points. Probably did this to save some cash as the rest of the info in the 2009 book is the same. HTH!

Thanks to all and a big apology. My hubby just brought me the 2010 chart - LOL! This makes total sense and when I asked him where the chart was, I guess he didn't hear me the first time. Oy!

So sorry for wasting time with this thread - it's all good now! Thanks again, Tiger :)

iirc the planner doesn't come out of our dues $. ITA it seems kinda late in the game mailing out 2009 info & we're half way through

Apparently with all the late breaking membership enhancements :rotfl2: - 2010 points reallocation, RCI this was earliest DVC was able to get the planner in the mail.

:goodvibes

It really is a shame. I would love it if at least the charts had 2010-11 on them. I wonder if there's going to be another point change for 2011. February is only 8 months away and that's when we can begin booking for January 2011. I would love to have something in my hands to do planning.

By the way, we haven't gotten the planner here in Ohio yet.

Ok, I'm still waiting here in Md. for my planner.

I'm beginning to think I'm not getting one.

We just got our 2009 planner today.

I just don't understand why it is for 2009?

Is anyone even still planning 2009 trips? :confused3

I thought the whole reason the planner where delayed was because of the point changes.:headache:
They aren't even really in the book!

I'm already planning 2010 !

I think it was pretty lame to put out this planner at this late date when there has been such a huge point reallocation for 2010. Why not just wait until the end of the year and put the 2010 charts up instead of hiding them in the back pocket? Did DVC think I'd forget that my points will get me fewer nights in 2010 than it did in 2009?

Glad you all pointed out where the 2010 charts are. I was actually looking at the 2009 points and planning next summer's trip. DUH! I guess I'll have to look it over again!

What makes you think it doesn't come out of our dues? They include general and adminsitrative expenses for membership of which I'm sure this would be part of. Who would be paying for it if not members?
:surfweb:

If that's what you mean by iirc...
(sometimes I hate people conversing in all these texting abbreviations!)

I also would assume that our annual dues pay for the planners too. I don't know who else would be paying for the graphic design, printing, and mailing of these books. The book and the packaging are lovely, but I'd be just as happy with an inkjet printed copy of the points chart. I have already reserved my January, 2010 trip using the point chart on DVCNews.com so this planner is a little late. I think planners should be for two years rather than just one.
Oh, I have no clue what iirc means.

I too think the planners for the past few yeasr a a big waste of money, and they have so much less information in them than our old 3 ring binders used to. It used to be that they would send us update pages for the 3 ring binders....a couple of pages in a nice big envelope...I KNOW that had to cost less than these stupid planner books that are nothing bur "pretty pictures" and fall apart right away because of the cheap binding.

I want our 3 ring binder updates back!

Considering 87% of members use the DVC member website, why bother mailing them out at all? SAVE OUR DUES! Download the pdf or call Member services, I say.
:rolleyes1

Ya know, most business are having to deeply cut expenses these days. Is DVC doing that to maybe contribute to a reduction in dues next year?

This is my 1st official planner as a DVC Member and I was very surprised that it was for 2009. I mean it is June which is the 1/2 way point for the yr, it is a nice book to have, but does seem like a waste of money. We can get all this info off the DVC member website.

I agree! Why did they bother printing the 2009? We already had that in the last planner. The calendar is also only 2009, when it was 2 years in previous planners. I think this planner is a big waste of money. We are already making reservations in 2010. I think they didn't want to have the point changes printed in black and white on the same paper so it would be less obvious.

Got the planner yesterday in Virginia. I agree with other posts, seems like a waste to send the 2009 book in June when I have already started reservations for 2010!
