Hello everyone, we just returned from a fun trip to DLR. I have been to DLR many times, Halloween and Christmas are my favorite times to go, the decorations are so fun! We did make it to the Halloween Party.
We had myself, DH and DS(6) and his friend who is 9. I originally planned on staying at BW Raffles but I am currently in a scooter for health reasons and wanted something closer to DLR so Ramada Maingate is where we ended up at. It is very convenient, pretty much across the street there on Harbor.
I paid for a Premium view and that was a waste of money, 85% of the hotel rooms have fireworks view outside their door to the room. I had room 434, 2 queen beds that were comfy, the A/C worked great. The tub in the bathroom was a bit older and didn't have anything to cover the drain. The room was clean, however 1 day out of our 7 night stay we did not get any service, not really sure why, after a day at the park I was to tired to deal with it, my sisters room next to me did not get service either. The internet wouldn't work in our room, but was fine by the office and pool. The breakfast was simple, but that was fine with us. The pool was fun and perfect for all ages, my nephew is 3 and the shallow area was great for him. Parking was tight, we had a truck and my sister had a midsize car, sometimes it was very hard to find parking. Check and and check out staff was fast and friendly. Laundry was the standard $2 to wash, $2 to dry and we had no issues with any machines other then the dryer worked better then most I have used at other hotels.

So pretty much this was a nice economy hotel at a higher price, just paying more for the location.

Thanks for your review. We are staying there Thanksgiving Weekend. Is there still a lot of renovation work being done??

Good word of caution to folks. If you're staying at a chain hotel, remember if its a Super 8 its a Super 8. Simple basic.

Also, many of the hotels have been there for a number of years under different names. The emphasis is usually on location. Mentioned previoisly that accomodations won't always be the most modern. Tho some in recent years have updated. Hotel owners know people will stay regardless of the accomodations in most cases.

Redoing a number of the hotels require several millions of dollars. If folks can fixup whats there, they will usually choose that route.

Thanks for the review. We are staying Thanksgiving weekend also. What was provided at the breakfast? I am assuming it is danish or donuts and maybe fruit?

All of the motels on harbor are pretty similar and basic, but at least some of the Ramada's rooms are in a newer building and they should have the newest building open in Jan. Parking is definitely tight, but they don't charge as much as some of their neighbors. I usually stay there (AP discount) and when I was last there in June breakfast was cereal, toast, donuts, oatmeal, fruit, hard boiled eggs, and alternating days of bagels or biscuits and gravy. Not a bad breakfast with at least some protein, but it will be better with the new building having a breakfast room instead of having to eat by the pool or take it back to your room.

Yes they are adding new wing, but didn't really effect our stay, have fun! Let me know if you have any other questions
