We really liked this resort, everything is so convenient -- including the boat to DTD. We had a really good room location, as well-- 5105, really close to the hot tub. The pool is beautiful, and the bus service was great. Nice theming, beautiful grounds. We'd definitely stay here again. If anyone has any questions, just ask.

Ciao,
Mort.

My husband and I are fans of PO-FQ (it was our first on-site resort!), and I'm longing for our return trip in September!

Hey Mortlives--
I'll be at POFQ in June for the first time....
How's the food court?
How far were you from the bus stop? (I requested building #5...I've heard some good things about it)
What kind of view did you have from your room?
Was it quiet in building 5?
Thanks for your help....glad you liked it so much!

The food court was good. Aside from the normal chicken strips and hamburgers (don't forget the Mickey waffles), they also have some Southern and New Orleans themed specialties - ribs, muffaletta, grits, beignets. The beignets weren't quite Cafe du Monde standard, but not bad, and they ring a bell every time a batch comes out of the fat.

Building 5 is just across the lane from the food court. The bus stop is on the other side of the food court. Maybe a 2 minute walk.

Our view was of a garden, and the hot tub just beyond it.

Most nights it was quiet, although there were a couple of nights where it sounded like some people were holding a party pretty close, but I think that could happen anywhere you go.

Things to especially look for:

  • the bathroom in the lobby has old fashioned toilets with the elevated tank and pull chain
  • the lion's head shower near the hot tub
  • taking a boat ride on the Sassagoula river
  • use the sea serpent water slide (very nice)

Have a great time,
Ciao,
Mort.

Mortlives -
Thanks for all of the info on POFQ. We'll be there in a little less than a month for the first time, so I really appreciate your post.

Thanks for checking in Mort.
We love PO-FQ, fell in love with it a few years back, have tried two of the other modorates, and French Quarter is the best!

We will be heading down there in 7 days and looking forward to all of what you mentioned. Esp. the beignets. :jester:
We'll be there for Fat Tuesday (3/4) and hope there will be some Mardi Gras Fun.

What would be a good water view room that is close to everything at the POFQ? Thanks in advance.

I don't know a specific room or room number. Building 5 is close to everything, and has river facing rooms. You might request one of them.

Ciao,
Mort.

We were in room 5125.. wonderful location - it was at the end of one of the "wings" of Bldg 5. Still not sure if it was a water or standard view - but from our window we could watch the water taxi head over to POR. We just agonized over whether to stay at BC or go with two rooms at POFQ... BC won, but only because we'll be down there for the Food and Wine Festival... and want to be close to EPCOT!
