Thankyou for the positive information . :thumbsup2
We are going in 17 days :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
We also bought unseen and going home for the first time so excited and we know we will love it :yay:

I hope you are easy to please because we thought we would like it too. I truly hope you do like it and that you end up staying there on a consistent basis. That would put you in the minority but every guest willing to stay there helps. Look for my thread on SSR.... coming soon.

DAVE

jen you are right.

this wasn't the thread......

my bad!

To the OP, I am glad you are happy.

DVC will provide you with many many kodak moments over the years. The fun has just begun.

Really the joke is on the SSR owners and I'm one of them.

I disagree. You got what you bought. you will always be able to stay inside of 7 mths where YOU BOUGHT. No the joke is on the people who bought 5 star, and will end up staying at 3 star, because they didn't book 11 mths i advance. From my perspective the SSR owners are the ones who have found a way to work the system. My hats are off to them....

Quot By: Jen D boatboatboat, your position and Dave's have been stated, ad nauseum, on other threads. The "why" was not asking why you don't care for SSR, since you've made your opinion quite clear on that, but why answer a happy, enthusiastic review with bitter sarcasm and borderline nastiness.

I'm sorry you don't like the system you bought into and you're unhappy with the booking requirements but there are other threads for your bitter rants.
KUDOS to you Jen D I couldn't have said it better and I would like to add that I personally have stayed at OKW and BWV and BOTH times I was EXTREMELY disappointed and wished that I had just stayed at my HOME and from now on I will. I tried the "other resorts" because everyone talks about how "wonderful" they are and IMHO I couldn't see what that were talking about? I LOVE SSR and will always stay there in the future. Keep your rooms at the "OTHER" resorts...I PREFER SSR!!

Everyone has a right to their own opinions.....but just remember they are like A--H----, everybody's got one. ;)

I take offense to the fact that there are those on these boards that think the only commnets about DVC or DVC Resorts should be good ones.

I'm not one who believes that. You don't like SSR, fine. But sometimes you seem determined that no one else should like it either. I have no problem with negative opinions being expressed. I mostly felt you were a little rude to the OP.

Daitcher said:
It was a little humor that probably flew over the OP's head. Until you called attention to it only those on the inside probably even noticed it.

Who are these people on the "inside" you refer to?

Anyway, I guess I'll look forward to your "negative" thread on SSR since you've been so restrained in your viewpoints on it up to now.

while the day is young, I think we have a real contender for the post of the day award in this one!

I bow to you.....

Well said and I agree 100%. I too am getting sick of the SSR bashing at every opprotunity. I may not agree with Disney dession to make it as large as they are doing, but I think it is a lovey resort. I hardly think the size of it is the fault of anyone who buys it and let's try to focus on the postive for a while.

OP so glad you had a great trip. We enjoyed SSR our 1st time there in Jan too. Our DD (4 years old) LOVED the slide in the pool. The resort was very quiet and peacefull and since we had a car we enjoyed being able to park so close to our room. I thought the rooms were well made and very quiet. I enjoyed the spa too.

Each DVC resort (and every resort at WDW) has it pro's and con's. Different people like them for different reasons. Not everyone's needs are wants are the same, one of the great things about DVC.

We are going back to SSR in May. To be honest the reason is we booked 2 months out and that was all that was avilable. It wasn't my 1st choice, but even with it being our near last choice it still is a good one. :goodvibes I think you can't go wrong at any DVC resort and am happy to be there.

I am not a major fan of OKW, like a lot it but don't LOVE it the way many DVC people do. I perfer BCV giving my choice. Many people don't agree. That is a good thing. To each there own. :grouphug:

Yes, we were just there. I like mixing it up. My point is even if you rank them in order starting with personal favorites and you have 3 or 4 others before it you like, SSR is still a good place to stay. :goodvibes Just because something isn't my personal favorite, doesn't make it bad. Honestly I don't think any WDW resort is a bad, but I like some more then others based on my needs and tastes. Sometimes my need is $ or points. SSR is less points then resorts that are very close to one or 2 of the parks. OKW is the same way. This is one of the things that makes OKW and SSR good, we can stay more nights there on the same amount of points.

I guess some people just have a hard time saying anything postive. :rolleyes1

come on now! the best thing to do with these two troublemakers is IGNORE them! they are obviously people that have nothing better to do with their time then look up posts and cause controversy. :confused3 people like that remind me of the ones in high school - the miserable wallflowers with no friends that sat back and observed everything and then did things to cause drama to the happier people around them. you know the kind - write something on a desk about someone and put someone else's name under it, stick a fake note in a locker, or do the old "you know what so and so said about you". i mean, it's truly laughable! ;) and it was expected to happen in high school. but as i'm sure you all know - some people never get past high school. so my advice of the day, if you see those 2 names on a thread, just ignore them bc they NEVER have anything worthwhile or sensible to say. :rolleyes1 especially about SSR. the fact that they have to go into SSR threads and pick apart what people say and make obnoxious, childish comments shows you what their lives are all about. remember learning "ignore them and they'll go away" in kindergarten???? it works, believe me. SSR is an amazing resort, as are all of them. :goodvibes there is something in DVC for everyone! and if those 2 drama queens were sooo miserable with DVC they would have sold their contracts a long time ago. and as has been pointed out about boatboatboat on other threads - he NEVER stays at his home resort, so don't worry about it. :smooth:

i'm soooo glad the OP had an awesome time! SSR is absolutely gorgeous and i'm glad there's other people that have been mature enough to see it!! on that note, in honor of disney - have a magical day. :rotfl2:

I agree.

If I ever can't get into the other places, SSR will be "good".

I just sorta figured that DVC would make all the DVC resorts GREAT.......

oh well "good" is nice too...........

he NEVER stays at his home resort, so don't worry about it.

well actualy I just bought HH this week, so I do own where I stay, and have a trip booked at BWV in June, but carry on, you are on a roll.......

What ever resort I DO STAY at is very nice, just as nice as the one I do own.

I bought A GREAT RESORT, I stay at a GREAT RESORT.

If ever faced with SSR,I may rent my points out, and book the swan for 149 a night. I love being ON SITE.........when at WDW.

I haven't stayed at the swan for 10 years, but as i recall it is nice. 15 min walk to epcot, and a boat ride to MGM. Gotta like that.....

Actually we looked at S&D instead for our May trip (we have to borrow points for SSR.) It was 169 with teaches discount and $300 on the weekend. Deals aren't always out there. Sometimes we wait to see if we can find a deal and to save our DVC points (always a borrower ;) ) Last year we got PORS for 77 a night, that was a deal. Sometimes when we do that we don't book too far in advance and we have to take what is avilable. In most cases that is going to be the biggest resorts. That isn't a surprize. Also SSR isn't sold out yet so there is going to be more openings.

However we booked VB 2 months out and had not problem getting a ocean view Inn room. Sometimes it is just luck of the draw. Infact for the past 3 years we have booksed VB 2 months or less out and got a room in May.

I didn't know the Swan jacked up rates on weekends. 300 yikes........

<hangs head>

I am gonna end up at SSR yet............

Glad you enjoyed it. What section were you in, the one out near Tampa? Keep on posting those great SSR comments. Frees up room at other resorts. I'm coming for those 7 month ressies, don't worry SSR you are safe. :thumbsup2 How did you like the poolside food? Did you order room service? How was it staying on site? Must have been plenty of seats around the pool? Any trouble getting a seat at the bar? How were those native northeast plantings looking?

DAVE

Dave, I can appreciate the need for everyone to like or dislike something. However sometimes it is just not the right time to try and make a point. The OP is realatively new to the forums and was posting a trip report about his experiences. Now while yours might not agree with his they are his to share. Many others, myself included, truely like SSR. You don't have to like it, that is ok too.

But when someone is having a parade it might be nice not to always try to rain on it. ;)

<snicker>

I saw a Why? and i saw a :confused3

I'll take a shot, at answering that.

WDW sold SSR to people who when they bought it assumed since it was WDW they were buying something like the OTHER WDW resorts.

Well to date, that simply isn't true.

Scan this very board for a moment and read the board. Do you see any owners of VWL or BCV or BWV wait listing to get into SSR? No you don't......... and why? Now do you see SSR owners trying to get into BWL, BCV, and VWL sure you do, and I don't blame them.

I am sincerly disappointed in WDW, they have let us DVC owners down. The have built a 3 star resort and marketed it on the back of 5 star resorts.

WDW obvioulsy can't do anything about the location of SSR, heck there is only so much on-site land to build on. But Dammit, WDW needs to put the same WDW pixie dust into the SSR project that they have put into the other resorts.

IMO SSR owners are great people, i like em........... NOW WDW employeed DVC planners, let's just say, we aren't buddies.

IMO SSR was built to house people at night, and then give them bus rides in the AM to the parks.

Can you imagine the EMH at the parks in another 5 years?

Now maybe WDW has a 5th park planned, and the location will be right beside SSR? That would be great IMO. I hope they do that. Just as long as the new park isn't nicer then the ones us BWV owners will be using....

To me, it's crazy that we all now have to book vacations 11 mths in advance or we end up getting "stuck" at a resort that is not on par with what we were sold, when we bought DVC. I can't believe that I am now in a postion on Jan 1st, where I prolly should decide where i am going to eat dinner on June 29th, I should make the ADR.

WDW keeps pouring more and more people into the "system", but hasn't built an infra structure to support them, other then the HOUSING units at SSR.

I am sure if I have misstated someone's postion, they will correct me.

So about this Earls, is it really that good?

I am sure there are many very happy and pleased SSR owners. It's just on these particular forums there are some that are not pleased with their purchase. In my opinion if they were expecting SSR to be the BC, VWL, or the BW they did not do their homework. I am not saying either of those resorts are better than SSR but they are different and offer different amenities.

As to the 11 month issue we book 7 months or less all the time and have never been turned away at any location other than HHI and we own there so no problem.

I personally think that lately there is a group here that likes the fact that bad press gets more response.

And just so you know in case you are new here, HHI took one of the worst beatings ever when it opened. No restuarant, no beach front, and good grief, it was not even in Florida.

Enjoy your stays there it is some of the best of what Disney has to offer. And once that secret got out bookings became hard to get there too, so you were wise to buy.

Sorry Susan,

From the pm's I get daily there are many who appreciate people who tell it like it is. Read my SSR thread I just posted and tell me what parts of it aren't the truth. We all have good ideas and points here but don't rip people for disliking SSR. I'll do the dirty work if need be. DVC needs to know in no uncertain terms that SSR stinks and that they have let the membership down big time. I am well traveled so I have a lot to compare the place to. If you take your annual trip to WDW and call it traveling then yeah you might think SSR is "good". SSR is to much money to buy into for a condo resort. Buy a Marriott grande vista resale and save yourself thousands of dollars. It is far superior to SSR. It is closer to a theme park than SSR is. Seaworld is right there. Your points about wallflowers in high school is so funny. Sorry but I was captain of the football team and baseball team and played division one baseball with a shot of going pro. Doesn't sound like a wallflower to me. I'd venture to guess B3 is a popular guy as well. Please don't speculate about me as a person. We've probably chatted several times at various resorts. Maybe I'll post a picture so you guys can get a look at the dreaded Daitcher! I don't speculate about people or name call, I just post my honest opinions. Who's the bad guy here? :confused3 Enjoy SSR!

I agree, I am very popular.............

baseball? I sucked for Wright State for 4 years. Best 4 years of my life.

Where did ya play?

I too had a shot at going pro. All I needed was more ability........
