Hi everyone
We got back yesterday after 3 weeks of bliss and 2 days of Francis!!
We got our villa from Sunsplash and I have to say I am seriously impressed with the villa and the attitude and service from the staff in the wake of Charlie and during Francis. We were able to extend our stay in the villa until Francis had passed and when we took the keys back on our way to the airport we were told that if there was any problems with our flight we were welcome to return and collect the keys again. Big thumbs up for them and a very high recommendation for others to use them when looking to rent a villa out there. www.sunsplash.com
Favourite Disney park was MGM Studios, we were first timers and I was really dissappointed with Magic Kingdom, I guess we were expecting to see a lot more characters than we did.
Favourite other park is hotly debated within the family but seeing as I am writing this I'll put in my favourite which was Busch Gardens, well worth a even with the distance, queues are minimal and still loads of coasters and attractions. A really full relaxed day, in fact we went back for a second day as we had not visited all of it. Check out Tidal wave if you go there, huge amount of water!
Favourite show was Cirque de Soleil La Nouba, again we highly recommend a visit there and we also really enjoyed Fantasmic which was awesome. Also Festival of the Lion King
Favourite rides included Tower of Terror, Shrek 4D, Dinosaur, Revenge of the Mummy, Duelling Dragons and Gwazi.
Favourite restaurant was Sweet Tomatoes, I am a vegetarian so it gois without saying it was the only place that offered me any sort of choice, but what suprosed me was the rest of the family that are meat eaters also considered it their favourite. Ponderosa was terrible, Denny's diner was ok too.
All in all we had a great time. Our return was delayed by 2 days due to Francis, but in all honesty we can't complain, we didn't lose power in the villa so we still had hot water, TV and the ablilty to cook. The ariline and staff were great and we got out of Orlando before we were due to, and considering the state of the terminal, with water pouring through the ceiling they really should not have been operating, but they all did a grand job.
We arrived the day after Charlie, a lot of the direct flights on our arrival date were cancelled, but as we went via Detroit we managed to get there when we expected. We had to wait in the airport for a few hours when we got there as we couldn't get through to the car hire company by phone as the lines were down and when we got to the villa the power was out. It came back on before we woke up from our sleep and we all felt incredibly lucky to have power, a villa that was intact and a car to get us around when you saw the devastation that Charlie caused.
Everyone was really friendly and helpful.
A great 3 weeks was had by all.
