DH (that wonderful crazy man of mine) surprised me with a Nook this afternoon. No reason...just cause he loves me and thought I'd like one (and he had a couple of B&N giftcards!). So he loaded it up with a bunch of awesome free downloads. He also knew it'd come in handy on a 3 week trip to Greece I've got coming up this summer!

Anyhoo, so I think I might like to get a case for it, if for no other reason than to protect the thing while traveling and such. All the cases I see look like a journal or diary type of thing, and I was wondering if the front cover folds completely underneath the nook, because I think having a "book" style cover would be a bit awkward in my hand. Kind of defeating the purpose of having the sleek little nook in my hands.

We were looking at a sleeve type cover, where I could pull the nook out when I want to use it.

Does anybody have any suggestions for a nook cover? Or even some good downloads?

It all depends upon what you want to spend. I have the oberon cover and it does fold completely over and at over 1 year old has held up really really well with no sign of wear to the cover. It was expensive though and is heavy. The Nook covers from Barnes and Noble will also fold completely over.

There are some really nice slip covers. A lot of people recommend the ones available on Etsy.

For free downloads of current books make sure to check Amazon's free for a limited time Kindle list, http://www.amazon.com/s/?node=2279458011 then go to Barnes and Noble and search for the book. If Barnes and Noble offers the book it will also be free there. :thumbsup2 Barnes and Noble just makes it much more difficult to find the book.

Also check Borders.com here: http://www.borders.com/online/store...alse&nav=5185+700152+5215+700157&simple=false The books Borders offers are not generally available on Barnes & Noble as free books, but generally they are in either epub or pdf format so you can download them from Borders and then sideload them and read them on your Nook. :yay:

One more thing about the lists of free books. Don't wait to get a book if it's being offered for free. Check the lists frequently and download the book right away if it sounds interesting. Some books are on the lists for months and others are only available for free for a day or two. If you find you don't like it you can always delete it or archive it.

I got a silicone wrap for mine (similar to one for a cell phone, just bigger) and the neoprene case from BN. I like both. I didn't want a "book" style cover either. The Nook in the neoprene case fit in my purse and are easily transported. The combo of the two also make a nice "stand"-prop the end of the Nook up on the edge of the case and it is tilted just right if you want to use it hands free. Worked great on the airplane to do that.

When did Harry become available for e-readers? I thought she hadn't released those yet?

NO way, NO HOW is that Harry Potter series legal.

You my dear have a pirated version of it and if the publisher finds out whatever site your DH loaded it from that site will be shut down.

Its the basic litmus test for the Kindleboards when vetting new book sites. if Harry Potter is on it, then its not legal.

She hasn't, though in a recent interview she said she's finally actively considering it. There are apparently unauthorized versions floating around on the web already though. I hope she releases official versions soon - I'll be buying them on day one!

Thanks for the heads up. Will delete it right now. Seems silly though since I already own the actual books. Oh well.

We're still figuring this whole thing out. Seems we have much to learn!

Borsa Bella makes really good ereader sleeves and bags for reasonable prices. Melissa, the sewer, has both a website and an etsy site.

Also, if you are willing to spend a bit more Oberon (gorgeous covers) has started a new line of ereader sleeves as well as the normal book covers.

You're welcome. As far as covers go I got a ROO cover for my Kindle, I believe they make some for the NOOK as well. Over on the Kindleboards(which is also open to NOOK readers too) there is a whole forum on accessories. It took me almost 2 weeks to settle on something because there is so much out there. You should go take a look see.:thumbsup2

WOW! Those Oberon covers are exquisite! Way outta my price range, but just beautiful.

Enjoy!! I really love mine! I bought my cover at B&N and it is a book-like cover. It does fold back on itself. I like it at night because when I am reading in bed I need a light and can use that flap to hide the light from DH. :) I bought a plain black one that has a photo slot in the front so I can change out with a photo of whatever I want. :)

Remember, every Friday they have "free Fridays" and you can download their free book choice if you are interested.
