just got a Keurig...we were recently dubbed the Keurig Krew......

Just hope your keurig doesn't break!!! Ours, purchased in August broke yesterday. For whatever reason, it can't get enough pressure to push the h2o to brew (wasted about 6 cups in my retried efforts). Called them last night, and they had me do a descaling, which didn't help and I am impatiently awaiting a call back from a specialist! I don't want to go and buy a bag of beans, but no coffee for 2 mornings now has been UGLY!

Sorry to hear this. :sad2:

Our Platinum is over three years old and has never required a descaling. :woohoo: I have an American Standard ClearTap filter faucet and use that to fill the Keurig.

I've been wanting to descale but I'm subscribing to, "If it ain't broke.....", for now. :)

Good luck!

I have caved....the DIS has done it to me again.

My grind and brew went belly up this morning so I headed to Penney's and got myself a Keurig! I bought the fill-it-yourself filter too-all the accessories are on sale there as well as the makers!
Welcome! If you are on Facebook, friend up Coffeewiz to get the latest discounts. They post close-out specials in addition to sales. I have enough coffee now to keep me going for months.... :goodvibes

Just ordered 158 K's for an average of $0.365 each on Amazon's friday sale!

What a great deal - how do I find it? I checked Amazon, but didn't find "Friday specials" :confused3

I just did a search on K Cups and then listed them by price from lowest to highest. That's not a real good method, since you have to actually look at each deal and calculate the cost per K and the package sizes are often different. But after some browsing I found some Coffee People Decaf 50 pack at $19, and some Wolfgang Puck 54 packs for - hmm, I don't recall right now. But at any rate the whole order was eligible for free shipping too.

We have had our Keurig over 3 years and love it:love:. DH likes all the bold coffee's and I like the flavored teas and coffees. DD's both will tell you that the hot chocolate is not very good. (not chocolatey enough) So we just run hot water thru the machine and make their hot chocolate that way. (we also run the hot water thru for instant oatmeal too) I don't know what we would do without our Keurig.

Sounds like a great method to me :thumbsup2

Besides, when you have to do a little searching you never know what surprises you'll find

Thanks for the help :goodvibes

We got the Mini Keurig a couple of months ago... love it, so a month ago we got the Keurig Platinum. Love it too, but a couple of days ago it started shutting off (not programmmed to shut off) at odd times. It progressed to shutting off, after turning it on first thing in the morning, before the it was even ready to use for the first time.
Anyone else had this problem? We've moved it around to different electrical recepticals to make sure it's not a 'house wiring' problem, but it really seems that the programming just 'blew out". I'm in love with this machine, so I hope it's not a common problem...AND, that Keurig will be easy to deal with.

I got one over 5 years ago and it is still brewing several cups a day with no problems. Since then I've given one to both my kids, outlaws, sister and parents. I use the "fill your own" K-cup to brew CDM. I love the coffee and think it is worth the hassle of cleaning.

I've also used it just for hot water when mixing things while cooking.

When ours went on the fritz a few weeks ago, Keurig was very easy to deal with, although my only complaint is that if you need to speak with a specialist, you need to wait 24-48 hrs for a call back. Those two days killed me;)! The specialist was super nice, walked us through some different possible solutions and even sent us 10 Kcups when I had mentioned just in conversation I was bummed I had wasted 4 or 5 cups being in denial it wasn't working! Granted, our problem wasn't electrical (descaling like georgemoe said, and also coffee grind build up), but I would imagine they will be more than happy to figure a solution! Good luck!

Thanks, I'll give them a call to see how to proceed. This morning it will stay on long enough to brew a cup, then shuts off. I've made sure everything is programmed right, so I'm pretty sure I'll have to send it in for repair. At least we have a Mini Keurig to fall back on.

not sure if this is relevant, but i read about lots of problems like people are describing being (shutting off, etc.) associated with the unit that costco is selling.
i bought one, but it looks like i will return it, and look for a different unit.

I bought mine from QVC, the Platinum model. Love it, so hopefully I can send it to Keurig and they will send a new one.

Just to let you know, I'm sending my Keurig back to QVC for a replacement. I had forgotten that they have a 30 day return policy. I'm under that, so I decided to try it. Hopefully the new machine will not develop the electronic problems.

I had the same problem with our Platinum purchased at Kohls for Christmas.

Keurig shipped out a new unit in three days and told me to toss the old one, must be some sort of software problem....

Any problems with the new one?

Any problems with the new one?

No problem, runs like a champ.

When I called in with the problem with the old one, they asked for the serial number, then immediately said - 'we will send you a new one'.

Must be a production issue.

Good luck with yours.

I went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond last night checking on a quilt and I visited the Keurig section. Nothing unusual there. Nearby, however, they have their Copco cups for hot beverages and have recently added a new product to the line

for cold beverages. I bought one thinking this would be a great addition for my Keurig to make iced tea. It is a thick plastic cup and straw with a screw-on lid - both dishwasher safe and holds 24 oz. It's perfect now that we are getting into the spring time. And the price is right at only $7.99. Of course as soon as I saw it, I thought of all of you.

**In the interest of full disclosure, I have no relationship with any of the companies listed above. :)
