Just for grins.

Love all the back-to-school stories!!!:lovestruc

Kari, your kids are so adorable!

Ever since she was a kindergartener, my DD (now a 2nd grader) would come home from school and "play school!" It was so cute to listen to her talk to her "class!" That's when I knew for sure the teacher was doing a good job!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

This year's class size has been limited to four because the paperwork was taking over her room!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh kari,

I feel your pain. It does not get any easier. I brought my daughter to her first day of school today. She is 10 and in the fifth grade! It was soo sad when she did not look back.. I cried!

Kari-

I just went through and read all the back to school stories. Your kids are adorable. I sent my youngest to preschool this year. I was sad because he is the last one I'll be sending off to school. He didn't even cry or look back. I think that made me more upset. He just gave me a hug and kiss and ran off. (I expect that from my other boys who are 8 and 6-my oldest won't even give me a kiss now in front of anybody) He goes from 9-1pm. In Florida we get a state voucher that covers the cost of preschool at the specified accredited schools. So, that really helps out. I'm going to find a picture of my 3 boys together and try to post it.

I love these back to school stories. DS7 started 2nd grade last week and started riding the bus this week!! AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhh. Where has my baby gone?
Luckily I have 1 more year before DS4 goes to Kindergarten. That's when I think I'll lose it. I'll be psycho mom that camps out in the parking lot waiting for the call "please come get your child that hasn't stopped crying in 5 hours and won't leave the corner". He's my little mama's boy. :lovestruc

Hey Kari--

I have a Life is Good request. I found this design and really liked it, thought it would look good w/Mickey ears. What do you think? And can you take the R off the bottom so I don't go to jail for copyright infringement while wearing it. :rotfl: thanks!!!

Hi, I seen little Justin off to his first bus ride to preschool yesterday he was so excited that he is a big boy now....lol ... He loves his new class an now mom and dad dosnt have to go take him an pick him up anymore :goodvibes:

I can't imagine being a kindergarten teacher. It is the hardest job I can think of. Especially after teaching preschool 1 day a week last year I have a new respect for teachers of young children!! What would you say a good size kindergarten class is? There are 20 children in my son's class. 10 boys and 10 girls.

I am SO sorry I missed yesterday. To answer the statement above. I am a kindergarten teacher and you could not pay me enough to take another job anywhere, for any amount of money. I have a shirt that says it perfectly: TEACHER the HARDEST job you will ever LOVE!

Every year is a new adventure some are magical carpet rides through the best fairy tales ever. Some years are like the deepest darkest forest and you think you will never see day light- last year ( I had a student in the classroom for 6 months who was undiagnosed until March with a severe mental health problem that resulted in various violent behaviors that included physically attacking me daily.)

We have been back 4 week so far and I have been blessed with a wonderfully sweet, kind, compassionate, and "normal" group of students. Even though I am in the room with them everyday all day (by myself) I am always amazed at how much they grow and how quickly. By December they have gone from little people who needed constant attention to pretty self sufficent little ones, who know there way around our building on their own and do SO many things independently. Not to mention that some students came to me and had no idea what a letter was and are READING by Christmas or some who had never held a pencil before they met me and they are writing sentences by Thanksgiving. I have taught other grades but the selfish side of me loves Kindergarten because of all this. They make so many gains. It amazes me.

My statement to all mommies is always, "I love them as if they are mine. I disipline them as if they are mine. I treat them as if they are mine. In the end I see them as my children. You may cry the first day because you are letting me have them for the day. I cry the last day because I am giving them back for a lifetime."

Any good teacher will feel the same. As a teacher I know there are occasionally some who do not see it this way. I say that when you no longer love every minute the good and the bad, GET OUT OF TEACHING.

My students are my mission, my drive, my goal: To help them be the BEST THEY can be.

As for class size I say 16 is the perfect size. BUT it never happens. Last year I had 23, as well as my student with VERY special needs. That was HARD. But 20 is a very workable and fun a number to have. However, more students than that often turns into managing little bodies. Our schools do not have assistants in the regular education classrooms, but if your little one has a assistant in the classroom 20 will be a breeze.

Enjoy this year you will see him turn into such a little man. Then you get him back for the SUMMER!

I hope this perspective makes it easier for you to say, "See you in a few hours."
Sorry this post was SO long, there was SO much to say.

Sorry this post was SO long, there was SO much to say.

Thank you so much for this post. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. You must be one fantastic teacher and your line about crying at the end of the year because you are giving them back...Wow! I wish all teachers loved their jobs as you so obviously do.

William's second day of school was not so peachy. He screamed and cried and clung to me. "Mommy, don't make me go. I want to stay with you. I can't do it mommy." He screamed all the way up to the school and inside the school and was so upset (which is very uncharactersistic for him). I, of course, felt just awful and thought "should I just take him home?" Fortunately, that was not an option as I had an appointment to go to and needed to get away right away. I left him crying and it was so hard. I cried the minute I walked out the door.

When I picked him up he told me what a great day he had and all about all the things he did. No mention by him or the teacher of any tears. The teacher did mention that he asked twice to go to the bathroom.

Anyway, I am praying for the little guy today that he will not be scared or anxious and that the transition would be painless for him. This is a huge change for him. He is used to 2 1/2 hours preschool 3 days a week wish he loved. He is also used to napping every day. I know this is a very long day for him and I think some of the problem is that he was just exhausted yesterday.

Oh Kari - here's wishing the little one well for the day. :flower3: It's so hard on them, it must be confusing going from home to school. THe good thing is that tomorrow is Saturday. I wonder how many kids will wake up tomorrow and get dressed for school. :rotfl2:
Have a good day everyone. :goodvibes Penny:hippie:

awwwww Kari, BEAUTIFUL children!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc :goodvibes
So glad his first day went well! I am working on the trip report today~ :rotfl:
and I love, love LOVE the Eeyore grin for the day

I'm headed over to check it out now!

OK Kari! I'm sorry I missed yesterday's excitement on your DS's 1st day of Kindergarten!! (and WOW! You guys are lucky for having such a long summer!! ) Glad he had a good day, and hopefully he can go to the bathroom today!

and Eeyore is adorable!!

Thanks!

PERFECT! Thanks!

Glad you like it.

Oh, Kari, your babies are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! How sweet that your little girl missed her brother....

We're still considering adopting... We have a daughter, 7, but waited to long to have another. I hate to think of her as an only child, but once I hit 40 I was afraid to have another one. We toss it around now and then, but are still unsure....

Also, the lunch notes are such a huge hit! Today Ally was going to buy her lunch (I can't compete with corn dogs!!! ) but she asked me to put a lunch note in her backpack!!! She loves them!

Kara,

Glad the lunch notes are a big hit.

I was 39 when we got William and 40 when we got Molly. (and my husband is 9 years older than me!) Sometimes I wish we had done it when we were younger but we weren't ready. There were times when we just thought maybe we wouldn't have children. I'm so glad we finally got on the same page at the same time. William and Molly are true blessings.

Love all the back-to-school stories!!!:lovestruc

Yep, William acts like Molly's teacher when he gets home from school!:rotfl:

I was a wreck yesterday after dropping William off. I went to an all day training which was directly across the street from my son's school. I kept looking out the window to see if I could see him.
