You are all so nice! Now you are going to make me cry all over again!
Give him lots of hugs and he'll do great! I think it's harder for the mothers than the kids!!! Oh, and here's a hug for you, too!
Thanks for the hug Kara. William's not a hugger so I appreciate the one from you!
Thanks Jennifer!
Kari-
I just wanted to quickly thank you for this thread. I love getting a laugh in the morning. Thanks also for your great lunch notes...you are kind to share with all of us lurkers out there.
~kimara~
You are welcome. Come on out of lurkdom! It's fun!
I know exactly what you mean - I cried when my two first went to Kindergarten but guess what ?? - it gets worse. I cried last year when my granddaughter went to kindergarten and again this morning for her first day in First Grade!!!!
I also cried when my DS & DD went to college but I cried even harder when they came home after graduation.
Oh don't tell me it gets worse. Today was one of the hardest days of my life. William's school is about 4 blocks away. Me and DD4 only drove by the school 4-5 times just to see if we could see him out on the playground. I felt like a stalker.

My 5 yr old Started today also I am a WRECK...I can't believe I have a High School Senior 1 starting big school and 1 starting preschool...here are a couple pictures from this morning. BTW the little one Eoin did not start today but made me dress him like his brother.
Oh, thanks so much for the pictures. What handsome boys you have. I am so glad to know I'm not alone in feeling this way.
:
Awe Rumbly , I sat at the bus stop after I drove behind the bus to school for DS fisrt day! Thank goodness it was a half day! I just didn't know what to do with myself! You will be fine oddly enough its us Mom's that have a rough first day and need big kleenex boxes.
Today my DS is going to 7th grade. Every year excpet kindergarten my Dad would take him in for the first day. This April 2nd he passed and my DS is playing his first football game (he made a promise to my Dad to play). I know this is going to be a rough day for DS so if if you would not mind saying a wee prayer for #74 today Fred.
Rumbly, many a day this thread has brighten my grey days and I want to thank you. This is where I went to get a pick me up today. I miss my Dad too today but will be certain to know that he will be busy out on that field this afternoon with my DS.
Thank you Rumbly and I say a tray of brownies may help today, it really is all about the chocolate in my little world!
Heres for DS
HOORAY FOR YOUR FIRST DAY!!!!!!!!
This touched me deeply. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Hi Kari - I saw this and it brought tears to my eyes. I went through that last year and I know how you feel! That is so tough when they want to be so big and strong and go bouncing off into the classroom. Cherish every second becasue it will fly by! I still cry over any "first" no matter what it is. Hubby just grins and turns his head

Thanks for all you do for this board. You have been a blessing to my family by your generous designs!
You are sweet. I can't believe it has gone so quickly. I remember the first time I held him. He was 6 months old (he was adopted. He was born in Taiwan.) It seems like yesterday and it has been 5 years!
I was going to post to thank you for the Ariel notes and then I saw this post.
My "shadow" and best friend, DD5 started Kindergarten as well today. Mommy didn't cry, but man, how can a house be so quiet? I went to the grocery and spent almost an hour and a half there ! It was nice to go slow and not just throw things in the cart! (or find things that I didn't know about thrown in the cart ) It's amazing what things you can see in the grocery when you have the time to look!
Anyway, from one mom to the other I'm right there with you.
Heather,

I took DD4 to the store with me but it was so much easier than with both of them. Of course I did this last year when William was in preschool but it just seemed different. Molly asked all day long, "When are we getting William? I miss my brother". Of course it was so quiet because they weren't arguing most of the day.
How did he do this morning?........ or maybe a better question is.....how did you do?
He did great! He started full day kindergarten 8:30am-3:00pm
When I picked him up he said "Mom, I'm so thirsty and I have to go to the bathroom".
I said, "let's go back in the school and use the bathroom in there."
He said "I don't know where it is."
I said "didn't you use the bathroom today?"
He said "No, every time I was going to tell the teacher I had to go, she was talking to someone else."
but at least he also didn't have time to drink his milk or juice box at snack or lunch time. He is the world's slowest eater.
I guess he knows now he has to eat quicker and speak up to use the BR.
Kari,
You are going to make me cry!
I'm sending you all the luck I can muster. I hope you are doing OK and somewhat enjoying some Mommy time. Let us know how it goes.
Amy, thanks so much. He came home and called daddy first thing. He yelled into the phone "I had so much fun at school today daddy!". Warmed my little heart and I felt a huge wave of relief rush over me.
My middle kid starts school on friday
Kari! I hope your day has gone ok! I still get teary when I think of my son's first day of Kindergarten! I know it was much harder on me than it was him! Sending big hugs your way!
Thanks so much for the hugs!
My youngest started 7th grade today - let me tell ya, it doesn't get any easier. I cry at the start of EVERY year
On the flip side, I stuck one of your Jonas Bros. lunch cards in her lunch bag and she came home with a HUGE smile on her face - she LOVED it
Oh I'm so glad it was a hit. I put a Buzz one in William's lunch (his favorite) the ink ran all over the place because his milk leaked out of the thermos a little. He said "Mom, you better not put those in my lunch anymore!"
Rumbly, I just wanted to thank you for sharing all of your lovely designs! I spent all weekend going through both of your threads and your work is lovely *and* witty!

I've borrowed a couple of your designs for our upcoming trip and I'll be sure to share pictures!
I also wanted to pass out hugs to all the moms with kiddos going to school for the first time today I have only had the experience with daycare (my lil guy turns 1 on the 19th!) and I know that was a tearful experience for me! That is only part-time, too!
Thanks again for making me smile over and over again!
Thank you!
My DS started K today too....and I got a call from the school that he got a pebble stuck up his nose at recess!!! They called me to pick him up, then called again because he was able to "blow" it out. I can't wait to see how the rest of the day went!
Oh that is too funny.

I am dying to hear the rest of the story too!
Awww Kari!!
How did the first day go???
It went good Melissa. We're busy planning what's going in the lunch tomorrow! Hey, where is your trip report update anyway??
Hope everything went well today!!!!
Thanks so much. I appreciate it!
Hope he was a brave big boy.....for both of you're sake!
I have two down and one to go!
"Middle School Mouth" as I call it, has set in at our house. I'll trade ya?
No thanks, I'll keep kindergarten mouth for awhile.
millerpjm, I used to work in the health office at an elementary building and you gave me a chuckle...I'm sorry but I can just picture the scene and being the beginning of school makes it all the better..sorry I had to laugh, but....hope he is ok and Kari, I hope you made out well too...Just to think, my "baby" is 29...oh, where does the time go??
Marilyn, thank you so much. I made out ok. (now that my baby is home).
Here's a picture of my handsome young man and his little sis in front of school this morning.
