Just for fun...who owns at VWL?

We bought back in 2001 and went last November for the first time and we loved it :D :D. We are going this May and staying at BCV. We want to try all the DVC resorts.

I have to agree with Simbas Mom. We own at WLV but after staying there once we probably wouldn't stay there again. We just found transportation very slow and the resort dark, and the living room of the two bedroom just too small for the 5 of us that were there. After staying at OKW that will be our main destination! Love the larger rooms and golf course views, and the wonderful CM's.

I own 170 points at VWL. Haven't stayed there yet but we will be this upcoming October.

We have owned at VWL since April 2001 and just love it there. But... I have stayed at OKW and would like to try BCV. We just love to move around.... but we are VWL'ers at heart.

I own at WLV, and have stayed there several times. My family loved the location (boat to MK and FW) and has enjoyed the lodge and its facilities. As a matter of fact, now they only want to stay at the Villas. We used to live in FL, and have stayed at almost all the resorts (except new in last 5 years.) We bought at WLV sight unseen, and have never regretted a moment!

Can't wait until May.....to go home again!:Pinkbounc

When we first considered buying DVC they were selling BWV. I loved the whole DVC thing and wanted to purchase points there. DH, however was not so thrilled. That changed when VWL were built. He said "yes" to DVC BECAUSE of VWL! :p
We love the beauty and the quiet of the lodge, yet it is only a short boatride to MK. We enjoy the beach and the lake. We also like to go over to do stuff at the campground which is close by.
If I had my way, we would own points at all of the resorts-but VWL is a wonderful homebase!:D

No. I just called today to put my name on the waiting list for an add-on for 50 points for an August use year. My guide tried to call over to see where I would fall on the list, but had to leave a message. I told her no hurry though, I don't need the points until 2004.

We love it. Some of you have read this story before, but when we toured DVC they were pitching pre-sale BCV. DBF casually said "Too bad we didn't purchase when VWL was available". The guide quietly got up, left the room and came back 20 minutes later with 150 VWL points for us.

SOLD!

That's great that he did that for you. We weren't thrilled about buying into BCV just because we really wanted VWL. I didn't think VWL was available but figured I'd ask just in case...sure enough, they had it available!

We fell in love with WL when it first opened, and it became our favorite resort, staying there at least 5 times. When we heard the VWL were being built, we knew that was where we hoped to call home. Before it opened, we almost purchased at BWV but things didn't work out, due to a mis-communication with our guide (? fate).

So, we bought at VWL when it opened and then decided to get a small add on. Through another mis-communication with a different guide, our use year sold out just before we could afford the add on. After being on the wait list a few months, our guide offered us an add on at BWV. We turned it down! And the add on at VWL mysteriously came through the next day.

We find VWL lovely, serene, just our style of resort. We can play at the parks and DTT and then come home to a place that seems far removed from the world. We're not looking to be in the middle of the action, although that is an option, if we want to choose a different DVC property.

That said, we stayed at OKW last year and are equally as happy there, for all the same reasons --- just a different decor. We're going home to VWL soon, but keep picturing ourselves being at OKW. What a luxury to have two beautiful 'favorite' resorts to choose from.

We purchased at the VWL when we were staying there a couple of years ago. I was going to be paying cash for the room we were staying in but instead put the cash down as a downpayment. We have about 1/3 of our points there.

We own some VWL points and are soooo happy with that place. It has such a great atmosphere and we just love the bike trails and using the water mice. We have 1/2 our points at BWV and the other half at VWL

We purchased our VWL points in January 2001. Actually the Sunday before VWL officially opened.

We haven't stayed there yet but might someday.

So far we have stayed at:

OKW - Absolutely gorgeous 2 BR with MIL
BCV - Nice 2 BR with SIL, BIL and 2 Nephews
Virginia Beach - Nice trade while wife was pregnant with our DD.

So far, DVC has been one of the best purchases we have ever made, except for the Tivo of course.

We have 210 points at WLV and 100 points at BCV. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We own VWL. Haven't had the opportunity to stay there as of yet. But did spend 3 days at WL in October. I thought it was heaven! Being on the lake. Themeing is incredible.

We will always try other DVC resorts, I usually let our guests decide when they want to stay. I think next time down we will just book and ask later. Hoping to get there during Christmas sometime!

We also did a small add on @ BCV for location and 11 month advantage for SAB.

LOL - I say something similar to that too! I tell my dh that out of all the things we purchased this year, TIVO and DVC were the two best! I didn't mention our $40K in ground pool which is nothing but problem after problem. DH even said he wished he could give back the pool and buy more DVC points!

We own only VWL. Our first "family" trip (pre-DVC) we stayed at The Wilderness Lodge and fell in love with it. On that trip we did our DVC tour and that's what was up for sale, so we pulled the trigger on it and haven't looked back since. My BIL has BCV, so if we ever wanted to switch/trade 11 month windows we just book ressies for each other.

We have about a 1/3 of of points at VWL. We have our first VWL trip scheduled this year.

We own at VWL and BCV. We've stayed at both and love both places. Each has it's own charm. We haven't tried OKW or BWV yet. We'll be trying OKW for the first time in June.

So whose home is VWL? Do you love it? Will you stay anywhere else DVC? Or is it VWL or bust?

Our home is the VWL! My DH wouldn't even wait to look at he BCV....he said that we had to have our "Home" where there was the motiff of the Trains. You see...my father was a train collector. So everytime we go it brings us fond memories and happy times. So it is VWL or bust!

We just returned from a 4 night stay at VWL, our home resort. All our points are there. Last summer we split our stay between VWL and BWV, mainly because I thought our children, 16 and 22 at the time, would enjoy the BW area more. EVERYONE agreed that they liked VWL the best, so as far as family vacations go, it's VWL or bust for us. We will be going back in July. Later this week I am going to try for a ressie at BWV or BCV for the F&WF though, just because of the location to Epcot.
