I got MB and also booked a welcome home stay. I didn’t borrow though but I’m sure that you can.

Magical Beginnings or not just purchase the lowest amount of points you need. In the end you will be paying that savings back in dues.

The only real restriction is you can only use the points you just bought. You can't use other points in your portfolio. When you buy direct you can call in and they can pull rooms from cash/breakage inventory to help you get a stay even if what you want is showing as not available on the DVC site. Originally, it was only for first time buyers but they recently made it available for all members when they add on direct points.

You can use the points anywhere, but they can't override the booking priority window so you can't add on at PVB and try to use those points for an 11-month booking at Riviera for example. But if you want a room within the 7 month window that's hard to get or just not available right now, they might be able to get it for you as a welcome home stay.

Thinking of adding another 150pts at Riviera. I have a small 50pt resale contract there but I'm finding that every trip I make, I'm wanting to spend time there. Didn't think I'd love a resort more than I do AKV! As a mostly solo traveller it's just a perfect resort!

If my math is correct if I buy direct with the current incentives I can get the points down to $189.67 per point. That includes the $22point incentive ($3300), D23 ($500) and Magical Beginnings ($20 per point = $3000). Am I missing anything else? Wish the crystal ball would give me insight into the next round of incentives....but with the price increase, I'm thinking this is going to be as good as I'm going to be able to get Rivera direct.

My small resale contract with the restrictions doesn't bother me, but I think having another 150 points locked at only one resort would. If it wasn't restricted, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it resale.

I think you've got them all that I'm aware of. Only thing you can do, if you're not already planning on it, is straddle the next incentive period start date to see, if by chance, they're any better come 2/10. Doubtful, but you never know.

Yes, was thinking of doing just that! Locking in a couple of days before this round ends but with the ability to adjust if the next round is better. I don’t see how it could with the price increase..but I guess they could offer other incentives to offset the price hike.

I would look at what you paid for your resale vs what you can sell it for now. See how much cash you get from selling it after commission, it might be worth flipping the resale and bumping up to the next incentive level for 200 points direct.

I second that. Looks like incentives would go up another $4/point. And, 50-pt resale RIV contracts are pretty few and far between and, I suspect, despite the new $500 CAF, will probably continue to fetch a premium.

Asked our guide yesterday. D23 and Cast Member/Military Discount are the only ones offered right now

Polynesian right now is $202.67 per point with D23 discount, current member offer, and magical beginnings for comparison.

I wonder how much it was when it first went on sale, if anyone knows would like to know that info.

Our new guide told us poly was selling for $250 per point before PIT came out and it had incentives, not sure if this is true. $1,950 difference on a 150 point contract riv vs poly
