I'd be more concerned about the size. Per the manufacture's specs that bag is 59.5". The manufacturer's specs never include the wheels and handles, plus with that bag being soft it will have bulges once it's packed. Air Tran's limit for a checked bag is only 61". That just leaves 1 1/2" for any bulges, the handles and wheels. I fly Air Tran all the time and for the first time this past Dec they were measuring just about all the bags, as they weighed them. I've carried my same duffle multiple times on Air Tran and have never even had it questioned so was shocked when they measured it. They leaned it up against the side where they weigh the bags and measured it including the part of the soft handle that stuck up on top just a tad, the wheels, and even the lean. The bag only weighed about 36lbs, but because stuff fell to the bottom when they stood it up they measured the bulge at the bottom, ignoring how the top part now sucked inward. They measured it from the bulge straight up an imaginary line to the top of the where the handle would be. That bag is nowhere near the 61", but the way it measured it that day it was exactly 61".

I was really surprised, because I've never seen Air Tran measuring checked bags unless they were obviously oversized, but that morning they were measuring bags that weren't even close.

Thank goodness my duffel has those straps on it that you can tighten up to make the bag smaller. The bag was only about 1/2 full, so I had the straps tightened very tight making it much flatter that it would have been if the straps were not there. Even so when they stood it up stuff fell to the bottom making the bottom bulge and the top then didn't have anything in it. They measured it, like the whole bag bulged. That day they measured it at exactly 61" even though it was only 1/2 full and I had the straps pulled tight. All that was in that bag was a 18" packing folder of clothes, two pairs of flip flops, and a toiletry bag (that fell to the bottom of the bag with the shoes and packing folder, when they stood it up). When they stood it up the top of the bag was completely empty, but they still pulled the bag out and measured it like it was full and buldging all the way down, if that makes sense.
