Just bought a new suitcase..... how long until it is destroyed? :-)

The sturdiest bags we bought were from Sam's club.

Ugly 4 piece luggage set/100$. They've lasted for quite a few trips Aruba, CA,Canada.. and
numerous Disney trips. We bought other pieces just because we got tired
of them but they're still there and we'll probably use them again...:confused3

Icecube....:rotfl:

I love these boards! The input on the OP's suitcase probably saved me from an expensive mistake. I had also recently bought a big suitcase about this size. The tag on the luggage gave the total measurement as 58". After reading this post, I measured it and got 63". The airline only allows luggage up to 62". Since my first trip with this bag was to be a trip overseas where they tend to be pretty strict about luggage - I wasn't taking any chances on getting hit with a $100 oversize bag fee. I returned the suitcase to the store today. We will make do with our smaller Jeep bags that have already held up well for a number of trips.

I am so glad I read the opinions on this large of a suitcase. Thanks everyone!

Several years ago I posted what I thought was a funny story. While I was in Burlington's looking for a new suitcase, I found what I thought was a perfect bag. It was large, pretty, and had wheels. I should have known something was wrong though when it was way up on a top shelf, completely out of reach. After getting a sales rep to get it down, I decided it was the perfect bag, bought it, and proudly took it home. A few days later I went on the airline website, read the maximum allowed size and decided I better measure the bag. Sure enough my perfect bag was too large, so I sadly took it back. When I took it back, I told the Customer Service desk that since I had to go back there anyway, to just tag it and I'd run it back to the luggage dept for them. Back in the luggage dept I told the sales rep why I brought the bag back and that I needed to find another smaller bag. She said not to worry about it that "he's been brought back several times before, which is why we always keep him on the top shelf". She then yelled out to another sales person, "Homer's back".:rotfl::rotfl:It was like this poor bag was some real life orphan that no one wanted. I couldn't believe the sales people had given that suitcase a name.:rotfl:

LOL! I love your story. Too funny that the clerks had named the suitcase! It was pretty sad for me to load up my very nice suitcase and return it. It had a lot of nice features. Oh well - saves me from over-buying on souveniors since I won't have as much room to pack them in my smaller suitcase! ;)
