Just need to share!! We have just booked flights manchester to orlando for July in school hook days with our airmiles. So all 4 of us (2 adults, child & infant) are flying premium economy and it's only cost us £1200 and 217000 miles. I can't quite believe it but it is def worth saving your miles for!

Great stuff! Who are you flying with, we have enough miles to fly economy on our miles but found it impossible to actually get the seats when we wanted them. We weren't lucky this year, try again next year! :thumbsup2

Do you have to book as soon as flights come available?

Got about 180k miles but need 210k for premium returns i think

I assume we can combine my wife and my miles?

Yes we combined our miles together then purchased about 6,000 as we were short. It was 217,000 miles for 3 return premium economy flights and an infant. These were booked very last minute as we fly out in 3 weeks! We are flying Virgin Atlantic. We have the VA American Express card which is a great way to earn extra miles and we always book out flights on the card as we get 4 points to the pound! I think it was just lucky timing there are no miles flights in economy so I think they are trying to fill up premium.

There's definitely no miles seat in Economy! Ha ha!

We tried precisely the day our return flights were released & there was nothing. I think there were 2 days with available flights the entire of the month.

We didn't have the luck on our side.

Going to have to cross our fingers for when we try. Will hopefully get 2 adults a child and an infant

I don't think Reward seats have a "release day" as such. We tried for several weeks to get reward seats for our trip last April and nothing. We booked and a few weeks later....reward seats came out and my parents booked them. I was told at the time they can be released at anytime. We have noticed a few times that reward seats have been available a few days either side of our planned dates and then further down the line they become available on the day we originally wanted. Although my patience has usually got the better of me by then. :)

We are hoping for some next year but I won't be holding my breath waiting for them.

That makes sense, I'm sure they won't release loads of seats they are confident of selling. I don't know I could leave it dangling for that long, I was uncomfortable enough having a hotel/cruise booked with no flights for a week. I don't know I'd want to push my luck, isn't worth the risk for me.

I'm fortunate that it isn't a big deal. So I can't complain.

Hopefully flying a quiet time of year not at the weekend will help us

We are on one of the quietest flights of the year, but for some unknown reason VA won't release any reward upgrades (despite saying the UC cabin was virtually empty!!). They're still selling the seats on eligible fair codes but seem very reluctant to offer "free" upgrades using airmiles. I hope reward flights are easier to come by!

Hmm hoped it would be simple but sounds like its quite erratic how they do eligible flights.
