Hi,
We have been DVC members since 2005. I just booked our 1st stay at SSR which is our home resort for July 2008. :cheer2: There is a group of 9 traveling and I was able to book a Grand Villa. My DMIL 80th birthday is next July so we will celebrating that at WDW with my DH's oldlest brother and his family. This will be my family's 1st trip to WDW. If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears. We will be there from Sat., July 19 - Sun., July 27. My family of 4 will be checking out on July 27th and going on the 4 night Wonder cruise. I am very excited. If anyone has any suggestions for a nice restaurant and/or show to celebrate my DMIL birthday at that would be great.
Thanks.

Try the Wishes Firework's cruise, very pretty and relaxing!

Sounds like a fun trip! SSR is very close to Downtown Disney and is accessible by boat. They are several restaurants in DD. I don't remember all of them but a few of them are Wolf Gang Puck's, House of Blues, Rain Forest Cafe, Fulton's Crab House as well as an Italian restaurant that is next to Fulton's and a Cuban restaurant near Wolf Gang’s. For an 80th birthday celebration, if you are going to DD, I would suggest Fulton's Crab House or the Italian place. I am staying at SSR in a few weeks and will definitely be in DD. If I come across another suggestion I will post it.

Carol:
Congratulations! You are going to share in the magic of the happiest place on earth. I remember my first DVC affiliated trip to WDW and it was magic to say the least. Your trip sounds like a very special event.

Some of my favorite places to eat are: Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. It's a buffet, all you can eat. Also Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. Another buffet but this is with the characters. The food at both places is great and plentiful.

Whatever you do, make reservations in advance. For us that's hard to do because we always say we don't know what we are going to feel like eating in a year but we are here right now at OKW and using the Dining Plan we've made reservations throughout the week. Trust me, lots of people were disappointed last night when they couldn't get into the restaurant here because priority seating was taking it all up.

One of the best things about Disney is the table service food. Excellent food can be found almost anywhere. I'm jealous that you are going on the cruise. We are planning that for 2009.

Have fun with this. Go to the DVC web site and set your date so you can do the countdown. Also, visit www.allears.com and check out the menus for the restaurants and lots of other things. Sign up for their newsletter and you'll get notice about any rides that might be closed while you are here and other up to the minute info.

And finally, check in here regularly. We all love WDW and you are going to find experts in all areas :)

Pam
