Just got back today from a 4 night stay at the VWL. We had a studio for this trip since we had to use our points from 2003 before they were lost to the point man from DVC!

Well let me start this post by telling everyone that my DW, DD & I were one of the last flights to fly out of MCO. We had had a 7:50 PM flight to Chicago, but after watching the weather channel on Thursday we call ATA to change our flight to the 12:17PM which I belive was one of the last of the day fly out of Orlando.

Now to the fun part!!
:hyper:

This was our first time at the VWL and as I stated before we had a studio with a somewhat view of the Hidden Springs pool. We could see parts of the pool but the rest was Hidden by the trees! :p
We had room 3505 which is a lock off room. we had no problems with that because we could not hear the family next to us at all. The room was in great shape everything was in in working order as in lights, frige etc. My wife & I own at the BCV but this resort is by far own next favorite!! Every night when we came "Home" the sounds of the bugs, frogs & other critters was so loud that my DD joked that Disney must pipe the sounds in!!

We mostly went to Epcot on this trip, had dinner in Japan. DD's just love the food there. we had the best chief cook our food, he was sooo funny.
We also had lunch/ dinner at Italy. The food was very good too, but the dessert was better,we all shared the samplier dish which was a little of everything that they have.
We also went to the MK. It was very busy but your in Disney World so you just deal with the crowds. Also just wanted to let everyone know that we stop by SSR to see what it looks like and to also talk to our guide, (And as some other people had stated before) our guide told us the DVC will ROFR on alot of contracts in the next couple of months. The reason for this he said was that they are seeing some contracts that are selling too low, and that they need to buy from time to time to bring the pricing back up from the resale market. If anyone has any question let me know

Thanks for sharing your experience at VWL and glad to hear that you made it out of MCO before flights were cancelled! We have a contract waiting on ROFR right now (2 weeks today); sitting on pins & needles because of the increased activity in ROFR!

Thanks for posting about your VWL stay. Better to use thepoints than to lose them! Glad you were able to get out of Orlando before Charley came on land.

This is us too! We bought at BCV and love it there, but we stayed at VWL last month and fell in love! We are going to have a really hard time picking between BCV and VWL. I am suggesting a split trip, but DH doesn't like moving, so we are looking at rotating between the two from year to year.

DJ, DW & I can't wait to see what VWL looks like at x - mass!! Does anyone have photos of it during that time of year?

We also love VWL! It is a great place to chill out, rest, and relax. Can't wait for our trip in just nine short weeks!!

Glad you and your loved ones had a good time and were able to leave the area before the storm.

Not to take anything away from WL (we've stayed there more than once ourselves), but the cricket sounds really are piped in. They're part of the "aural wallpaper" that helps give the lodge its special flavor.

If you go to Deb's website:

Look at the bottom of the list of photos and she has some holiday photos there.

We stopped in last year to see it and it was lovely.

We were in that exact same studio in 2003! It was a fabulous location....and they really do "pipe in" the cricket sounds, and owl hoots. I liked the music too.

I LOVE the lodge.

Thats so funny that you had that room!!:p I would have to say it has to be one of the best locations for a studio too. I wish I had a tape recorder to take home the sounds of the "wild life" with me!:teeth:
