Just back from a week at the world. The trip went great, many small magical moments for the kids (the received free ice cream at AK, free big cookie at the bakery at MK, DS was chosen to "drive" the jungle cruise boat, free fastpasses from CM's at MK, etc...). I saw more "magical moments" for the kids this past trip, which was very nice.

As for the bad, well, can't say the lines, because for the most part, the were very managable. My DS 3 is exactly 40 inches tall. We were excited because that is the magic height for BTMRR, Splash Mtn, Soarin, Test Track and the raft ride at AK. The only problem was that at every attraction he just barely made the official disney height measuring stick thing, and in many cases, the CM would not let him ride. (this problem was solved by simply re-visiting that same attraction later in the day when a different CM was working the line. Sure, it was a pain and frustrating at times, but he did eventually got to ride them all.

Now for the ugly. On our last day after we checked out, we decided to spend the day again at MK. The day went great, low lines and perfect weather. We rode Splash Mtn around 3pm and decided to purchase the pic, and we had it sent to the front of the park for pickup (available at 7:30) so we figured we would eat dinner and leave at 7:30 (long drive home). So after dinner DW decides we should ride Peter Pan one last time, we park our stroller and hop on. Upon exiting, my DD5 wants to ride IASW since there was no line at all, so we jump on that. Now its 8:30 and we goto the stroller to head out of the park. Our bag of souvenirs that we bought during the day (about $200 worth) was gone.

Now I have been to disney about 20 times in my life, and have left camera bags, video cam bags, etc on the stroller with never a problem. Even at epcot my DW accidently left her iphone on the stroller while we were in Soarin, and that was still there when we got back.

Needless to say we were all very upset by this. Who steals a bag full of souveniers obviously for little kids? I mean it was a big disney world bag. People who goto disney to steal things from little kids should be taken to a MK back alley and beaten senseless by the goofy police.

That being said, this is where the Disney customer service machine kicked into high gear, the whole process I was impressed with. A CM parking strollers offered to help us find the bag, and once it was determined that it was obviously stolen, she called security who arrived a minute later with a manager. The stroller CM took our kids onto the Peter Pan ride while we told security and the manager what happened. I had receipts so I knew what was missing. About 10 minutes later, the stroller CM returned with our kids, each one carrying one of those huge 5-pound lollipops. We were done giving our names and info to security for their report. The manager then gave us a form and instructed us to return to the gift shop(s) where we purchased our souvenirs that day and Disney replaced everything that was missing. That part shocked me. I was not expecting that at all.

Of course, lesson learned. nothing will be left in the stroller in the future, and we will simply have our purchases brought to the park entrance for pickup.

Wow, sorry about your stuff getting stolen but, wow, that's amazing customer service. You can't beat Disney if you're looking for a magical time.

I am so sorry that your last day was less than magical, but I am glad that Disney took such great care of you! :)

so sorry to hear the bad news.. I am going down in one week. Its so hard not to trust everyone in the happiest place on earth, but there are the not so nice people there too, It makes you think maybe it was someone that couldnt afford things for there kids. and that was a x-mas gift. I mean you would hope that is the case cause if someone is just going around stealing stuff is a horrible thing to do.. not saying that stealing for x-mas would be ok to do. I am affraid sometimes that my stroller will get stoled.
It is awesome what disney did for you by replacing your stuff!! Its just hard to take that there are nasty people out there!! I am happy that you all in all had a great trip....Happy Thanksgiving!!

yea, were not really talking xmas type gifts. 2 hats for the DD's, a hat for my youngest DS, a disney fleece blanket, pins, lanyard, some pirate stuff, etc.

Listen, kids, when the economy is tight, people resort to nasty behavior! I work at TDS and we have had a rash of shop lifting. Also, this will be a bad year for getting your car broken into at the malls, etc. Petty theft always is bad this time of year, but I can promise you people get really rotten during a downturn.

P.S. How awesome of WDW to do that for you. Remind me to hold all my receipts.

P.P. S. Someone stole our little fan sprayer bottle from our stroller last year when we were eating at Hollywood and Vine. I had literally just purchased it and didn't want DS to take it into the restaurant. Won't do that again...What kind of a nasty person does that? It's Disney for Pete's sake! I'm with ya on calling the Goofy Police. I pity the person who makes us happy Micky fans angry with their anti-magical behavior...

That's why Disney sets the standard for customer service! :thumbsup2

Im very sorry for what happened. But that first class customer service in my book.

I am sorry for what happened, but glad to know it all worked out in the end. I am, however, shocked that a CM would take your kids on the ride without a parent present. I would think they wouldn't take that responsibility/liability on. But, it is cool that they got the giant lillipops. How fun!!!

Sorry to hear that a theft occurred to you. Glad to hear all was not lost.
Lesson learned: We all need to be diligent about protecting our belongings, even while in Walt Disney World!

well, the one thing I love about disney is the "bubble effect", you really are in a different world while there. The CM's were great. To put icing on the cake, as we were walking back to Tommorowland to replace the items, a CM near Dumbo walked up and asked us if we wanted to ride Winnie the pooh, we said sure, and she handed us 7 FP's, one for each of us.

As for the CM that took the kids, the ride was right where we were, and 2 of our kids are 11 and 10, no infants or anything. (the others are 7, 5 and 3). They are very well behaved (unless you give them EACH 5lbs of candy, lol).

Honestly I recall thinking to myself, "if this can happen here, it can happen anywhere, maybe next year I will vacation closer to home". I never said that to anyone, just thought it. Apparently Disney can read your mind, because their customer service reminded me of why I chose to vacation there every year. :)

Aww that was so nice that they did that for you!!! Gotta love Disney!

I have to say it is very sad that people coud actually steal to begin with..but in Disney world and taking kids stuff is just super low.

A client of mine told me that she parked her stroller to go on a ride and somebody stole a poncho and her daughters autograph book. People can be so cruel and low.

This is the second recent thread about "I had stuff stolen out of my stroller." Either keep everything on you or have your sent to guest services. I'm not sure you can stop people from stealing. Jeepers, how bold!

I just found out about the ability to send stuff back to your room when staying onsite, and now I know I need to use this based upon your story.

It was great that they replaced your stuff, but I am sure you wished it would have never gone missing to start.

A sad story for sure, with the theft and all, but sure a nice read how Disney made it good. Good for them. Thanks for sharing.

That has to be one of the best customer service responses that I have heard of --anywhere.

I know that sinking gut feeling when you just discover you have lost something or something was stolen. Not to sound jaded, but I just rarely if at all leave anything out in the open, anywhere.

MK will have thousands upon thousands of good, honest, and trusting people on any given day. But there is always one or two....or three....

Just to add to the above statement. (and things may have changed so please correct me)

The "stuff" is sent to the resort gift shop where you need to pick it up (unless you are staying club level, then it can be sent to your room)

It will take up to two days to get the package. So if you are leaving WDW within that timeframe, you would have to send it to package pickup at the park.

Wow. That really blows me away that Disney did that for you. Shame there has to be such dishonest horrible people like that in the world that would steal. :sad2:

With the economy so bad, and so many out of work, look for more of this kind of thing. Please be careful when doing your holiday shopping as well. The items that were taken could easily be sold at a flea market or on Ebay, so I'm not surprised they were taken. I've been doing my holiday shopping and I don't carry a handbag, don't carry a lot of bags, and don't put any thing in the car until I'm ready to go. People will follow you to your car, watch what you put inside, and then break in. It's also a good time to remind people not to leave anything in sight in their cars at their hotels, either on or off site, for the same reason.

Don't give a thief the opportunity to make you a victim!

Kudos to Disney for how they handled the situation. :thumbsup2
