I just returned from the world and spoke with I believe his title was "Operation Manager" not sure at MGM (one of the guys in suits walking around the park) anyway he told me that Manns Theater is going to be torn down and in its place is either going to be The Villians ride (like Spidey at IOA) or The Indiana Jones ride from DL. He said it's one or the other and if Indy wins they will put a new show inplace of the stunt show. Also said part of the Mission Space ride is operational in a warehouse and is "MINDBLOWING" his words exactly. Also said that between MGM and EPCOT within the next 5 yrs what is going to happen in these two parks should kill US/IOA. Should be interesting if this is true!:)

so the great movie ride is being torn down? (well.. the ride itself, not the building) thats sad :( Its a cool ride, it really didnt have any wait at all when i was there, nice place to go and get away from the heat for 15-20 mins.

Master Grayson, these are great rumors! We get so testy around here and bogged done in minuetia so frequently that we often fail to discuss the real rumors that could happen (even if they're longshots). Without this positive talk (and Tikiman recently gave us some , as well) I think we all kind of get bummed by the facts...So here's to Walt's Birthday Celebration - May the surprises thrill us all, and as for the Indy ride at MGM, all I can say is an emphatic YES!!!

Wow I would forward to some really positive changes. Any idea when the Great Movie Ride would come down.

If the Indy rumor comes to pass, I'd fly down and camp out before opening day. The Indiana Jones Adventure at DL is the best attraction I've ever experienced, period.

I would hope that they wouldn't tear it down during the 100 celebration coming up. I would think that they would want the parks as "complete" as possible during that time.

Also, it is one of my favorite rides. When I get on it, and the lights go on and "Hooray for Hollywood" starts playing, then I know I am in DisneyWorld.

A little while ago we had this comment about the master plan being revealed soon. Sure seems like early in the 100 year celebration would be a perfect time don't you think.

And all of these good rumors all of a sudden. Could it be something is really in the works or is this just the ripple effect from that AV scenario painted where everyone at WDI was throwing any idea they had on the wall in an effort to try to keep their jobs?

If they really did have some big plans for the parks would they really have downsized WDI as much as they have. I can just see I'm getting myself all primed for a letdown.

The CM I spoke with asked me how many times I visit WDW and I told him once or twice a year his response to that was "make sure you ride the Great movie Ride a couple of times,it may no longer be open the next time you come down" Also he said that the technology for Mission Space is top of the line and that actual G-forces and weightlessness is going to happen.

Seems like this one is bouncing around everywhere.

Master Grayson, interesting screen name, are you a big fan of Batman and Robin?

Also said that between MGM and EPCOT within the next 5 yrs what is going to happen in these two parks should kill US/IOA. Should be interesting if this is true!
WOW! This is the time to be part of The Dis boards. But to confirm the report that a new plan will be added, a while back, before any officail 100 years info, a CM reported that MANY new attractions will be announced and RUMORS WILL BE CONFERIMED OR DENIED!:D

Oooh... I hope they put the Indiana Jones ride in! That would make me ever so happy! *smiles* It nice to have some optimism on these boards again- I've been lurking for the past several months because things have been so discouraging.

*Serenity*

I am all for the Indy ride to come to Studios. I hope that all the recent rumors for the park means the begining of a turnaround in the way managment is thinking. I do hope that the GMR does come back in some way shape or form it is a staple in DS.(this is the stuff the rumors board is for)

I'll echo the positive sentiment surrounding Disneyland's Indy Ride. It's simply the best ride I've ever been on. Even better than Spiderman at IOA IMHO. The reality factor and theming is way ahead of any other attraction I've ever seen. If they could somehow improve on Disneyland's version, or even match it, then I'd probably make a special trip to WDW just for the opening. Tokyo Disney Sea's version of Indy should give us a glimpse of the next generation technology for this attraction when it comes on-line this September. I'm extremely eager to see what they've come up with.

I would also love to see Indy at the Studios, but I'd like to voice a word of caution: The Great Movie Ride is the only ride at the park that can be enjoyed by families of all ages together - all others have height restrictions, and so would Indy. That would undoubtedly be perceived as bad show by many visitors, and I would hope that a new, family friendly dark ride, be installed in addition to Indy, should this rumor be true.

Yes, Indy is Disney at its best. I rode it out west last month and I was speechless at all the detail. This ride would be perfect addition for a perfect park (to me).

Should they even put this ride in MGM, I am kind of concerned about its size. Seeing the show building from Downtown Disney in CA, I kind of wonder how are they going to "blend it" with the hat and all? This ride is huge and no wonder why it feels so congested in DL's Adventure because of it. MGM doesn't have that much space to play with since its two major roads are next to it, so I guess the demise of the GMR would be very possible if they were to add Indy.

I would also love to see Indy come to MGM. If they bring Indy in then they will need a new stunt show which I can't imagine what that could be. I really think the villians ride makes more sense to me as a family ride. Either way, as pumped up as this CM was I just can't believe he was giving me a line. I mean I didn't ask for any info he saw me standing with my kids waiting for my wife and asked me if I'd be in the parks for the fourth and told me to come back to MGM for Sorcery in the Sky and then the conversation went from there. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.:)

Origionaly, the stunt show was going to be James Bond, but that got dumped. Because of the bad MGM relationship, don't expect that to happen...

I'm getting tired of Disney taking down old rides to put up new ones. I LOVE the Indy ride in DL, but keep TGMR and add Indy somewhere else! Then everyone is happy.

Does this mean that the hat is going to be the Studios' icon? Forgive me if I'm not enthused about that. Also, I would think that if something as huge as Indy is going to be built, they would required more room than just the GMR wouldn't they? If so, what else would be pulled down? All of those sound stages behind it? Including the one where Who Wants to be a Millionaire is? Naw!

Can anyone tell me if more room than the GMR would be needed for Indy or am I way offbase?

As far as I know, the Great Movie Ride building is the largest dark ride warehouse at WDW at 95000 feet. I am not sure how large the surface area of the Indy/Dinosaur show buildings are (those 2 should be identical, since the rides are equally long), so I don't know if it would fit or not. Either way, if it's not going to fit in the GMR building, it'snot going to fit anywhere except in Dinosaur.
