Just Back Marriott's Cypress Harbour

It was great. We were in 6645 - a non renovated villa. It was still beautiful, although there were signs of wear and tear. The facilities were great with plenty of activities for the children. We had a problem with bugs on the kitchen counter top, and within 24 hours they found the nest and the problem was taken care of. They even took about $50 off our bill because of the pronblem. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.

What kind of bugs? Ants?

How would you rate it compared to being onsite at Disney? Was it comparable in quality?

Were the grounds well taken care of and the common areas?

Thanks.

We are checking in there on thursdaay. How was your weather? How long to get to Disney? Did you have a view? What floor were you on? Thanks! :sunny:

The bugs were called "sugar" ants and "ghost" ants depending upon who we spoke with. They were very tiny - much smaller than ants we see in the north east. Bugs this time of year are very common and much of the staff we complained to said they had them in their houses. I have stayed at other time share resorts and never encountered this problem.

It took about 15 minutes to get to the parks. I like the spaciousness of a villa much better than being on site - even if you have 2 connecting rooms. It's nice to have a couch to sit on rather than sitting on the bed. We also have 3 DS (1, 5 & 9) and it is nice for them to be able to spread out. The quality of the accomodations was outstanding. Like I said, we were not in a renovated villa, but it was still beautifully appointed. The wear and tear was things like a small water stain on the ceiling, paint chipping, the bathroom sink cracked, and an iron that did not steam. Nothing I couldn't live with.

We were on the fourth floor. There are elevators so it was no problem. It was very quiet. I stayed at Horizons in May, which was much noisier (you could hear people coming and going from inside your villa all day and night). We had a view of the golf course from our balcony. The only thing I didn't like was from the balcony you could see and hear everyone else on their balcony. Horizons was much more private. We also lost phone and cable service prior to the hurricane hitting. The cable went out several times as it is satelite service.

The grounds were very well kept, and the staff was extremely friendly.

As far as weather, we got there two days before the hurricane hit so on Saturday and Sunday it was mid 80's and overcast. Monday rain for 1/2 the day. Tues. & Wed. were cool with a high of about 70. Thursday through Saturday was beautiful - high 70's - perfect park weather.

Wackywexler, I'm sure you will be happy there. It is a huge resort so ask to be near a pool. They tried to put us in the building farthest from the pool but once we saw its location we asked to be moved and it was no problem. You will have a wonderful time. Enjoy!

Thanks for the report. We are staying here in April before we move over to DVC's Old Key West.

Thank you so much for the info and tips, I really appreciate it and I can't wait!! Wooohooo we're going to WDW in 2 days!!! :cool1:

So nice to read a great review. We will be staying there in April and not doing alot of parks. Can you tell me with my kids, 4,6, and 8 will there be enough activities to keep them busy for a few days?

If they like the pools there will without a doubt be enough to keep them occupied. My kids are 1.5, 5 & 9 and they relly liked it. I was surprised that my oldest son liked it more than Horizons. They have fishing. paddle boats, ping pong, arcade, activity center with things like sand art, ice cream social, etc. They also rent surry bikes and have a playground. We did the parks each day but only for 1/2 day. When my little guy took a nap the older two were never bored - even during the hurricane.
Have a wonderful time.

Thanks for the review. We are staying at POR from 12/1-12/4 and then checking into Marriotts Cypress Harbor on 12/4. We have tickets for MVMCP that night and are wondering if you know how early we will be able to check into our room since we want to be a MK by 4:00pm? I don't want to check in at midnight after MVMCP! It would be nice if we can check in by 2:30 or 3:00pm. Debby

We were able to check in by 11:30 am. It might depend on how filled to capacity they are that day. You might want to give them a call - I'm sure if they can accommodate you they will. They seemed to want to do anything they could to make us happy.

Have Fun!
