Well, back for a week and just better from bug that I caught down there !!! We had a great time, as usual !!!

BUT....... two things that I will never forget from this trip. I will NEVER ever eat one of the infamous turkey legs again !!! This was my first time trying one, and I got sicker than I have ever been !!! I lost 10 lbs in 4 days !!! I can not directly tie my illness to the turkey, but it looked to be very undercooked, and when I got back and saw my doctor, he told me my symptoms were very familiar with food poisoning.

The other thing.. I will never fly Delta/ "Song") again !!! They were a complete nightmare. Our flight was supposed to leave to NY on the Saturday of the snowstorm. We had a 10:00am flight, which after sitting on the plane for almost 90 minutes was cancelled. They then told us that the next flight out was at 8:30pm saturday night, but they could not guarantee that flt. They gave us a hotel "voucher" that was supposed to save us money on our hotel room (which it did not)

We booked a 7AM sunday flt into JFK. After waking up at 4am, and waiting on line for 90 minutes, we were told that that flight was cancelled. I was told to use the black "help" phone and I would be transferred to a Delta rep. After waiting on hold for 40 mins, the next flt we could get was Monday afternoon at 4PM.

Meanwhile, Jet Blue flew out on Saturday night, and also had a 6:30 AM flt to JFK on Sunday that flew out without a hitch. Delta, at this time, was telling customers that ALL NY area airports were closed, which was a blatant lie !!!

We ended up paying $500 for a 1pm Sunday flt with Jet Blue into JFK. We are currently waiting for Delta to credit our return flt.

They told us it would be 3 business days before we would receive our credit. We are still waiting.

I would never use them again. I have no problem with them being concerned about safety, and not flying, but dont tell people that the airports are closed, when they are not.

Other than Delta and the turkey leg, a great trip !!

Highlight: Ben Vereen doing CP !!! AWESOME !!!!

Meiandrew - sorry to hear about the bad experience. However, growing up in an family full of airline employees, I always feel I have to respond to complaints like the ones you are making. While I feel bad for you for the troubles you experienced, I have to say it appears to have been the fault of the weather, not Delta or Song. If a flight cancelles due to snow, I find it extremely difficult to blame the airline. As far as Jet Blue flying out before Delta did... this happens often and is more than likely due to the location of aircraft when the snow hits. If Jet Blue had multiple planes on the ground in NY and Delta did not... then of course, Jet Blue would be able to get out of the city faster, as they would not have to wait for the aircraft to relocate to NY. Also, it is completely possible that the airport could be open for only an hour, then closed again. Again, if Jet Blue had the plane at the gate, with the passengers nearby, they would be able to get out in that window before another airline.

Again, I am sorry about your misfortune... but please, blame the weather, not the passeger service reps on the ground or even the airline for that matter. -- Plus, when it comes to ice and snow, I would rather fly on a conservative airline rather than an airline that leaves too quickly.

FYI - my family does not work for Delta or Song.

Anyway - I am glad you had a good time in Florida... and I agree, those Turkey Legs look sketchy everytime I see them. BLECH.

If the flight cancels due to the weather..that is fine. Obviously, there is nothing that can be done about that. The problem that I had was that Delta was telling everyone that the airports in NY were all closed, which simply was not the case. Yes, they were closed for a time, but on Sunday morning, they were not closed.

I had no problem with Delta cancelling due to concerns over customer safety, but telling people that the airports were closed and that NO planes were able to land was simply not true.
