During our stay we spent a couple of nights at the GF SL concierge. It was what we paid for - rack rate and what we got. I loved the room theme - I had seen photos of it and really wanted this room theme I think it was Cameo - yellow and pale blue. Our room was 2nd floor facing the pool, but the view was mostly blocked by a tree. The room was in excellent condition, and I enjoyed having a minibar. They were busy landscaping the grounds with fresh plants as we left, so it was a little noisy. I kept the toiletries to bring home. Our room was next to the elevator down to concierge lounge. The food and drink selection was in excellent supply during breakfast and afternoon. I never saw the evening stuff. I never really needed concierge staff as I enjoy booking things myself, so its not something I would pay extra for unless I had tons of money to play with;) I loved the GF as I thought I would. We ate dinner at Park Faire which was excellent and at Narcoosees which was excellent - butternut squash and crab soup, filet mignon, and a Narcoosees special peach mousse dessert which was beautiful. I would love to stay there again, if budget allowed, but next time I would request a specific waterview rather than paying for SugarLoaf Concierge.

Thanks for a good review.

I agree, at the GF I'd rather have a lagoon view/castle view room over the Lodge Concierge.

I always get confused on GF Concierge... is the main building Royal Palm? or Sugar Loaf..? and when you say Lodge Concierge do you mean the main building or one of the outer buildings??

I was under the impression all the rooms in the main building are concierge... but do they have regular rooms in there too?

Next December (2004) is my 40th birthday and I was thinking of going to WDW for just a few days and staying at GF.

Thanx

I have taken quite a few detailed photographs which I will upload to my webshots at the weekend:) >>^..^<< - this stay at the GF was for my 30th so it was a special treat and I felt utterly spoiled:) It is one hotel that I will never forget. The lobby is absolutely stunning. PS - dds and I had our hair styled at the Ivy trellis and the stylists were wonderful:D - I bought some great souvenirs at the GF - GF photo frames, watercolor prints of the GF, snowglobes, pins etc, and I almost bought a bathrobe but they only came in white , and that would mean washing it daily after I spilled my hot chocolate on it:p I bought a GF tank top instead!

Lodge concierge is in the sugarloaf building and Royal Palm Club is located in the main building. There are no "regular" rooms located in either building. My 40th is this January and I really wanted to treat myself to the GF again. DH are combining it with our anniversary for a parents only trip this time around.

Magicmouse2,
I love that you had your hair styled at the Ivy Trellis. Did you do this for an evening out and did you arrange on your own or through concierge? I was thinking of splurging on a facial at the spa and now I might just set aside a few more hours to have my hair styled also. Something I never thought to do while on vacation.

We just got back recently from seven nights at the GF: five in SL, two in the main building at Royal Palm. We could've stayed at RP for two more of those nights, but we actually preferred the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff at Sugar Loaf.

It's now considered our home away from home and I think I've upgraded our family permanently LOL DH and my Dad say that they can't imagine going back and staying anywhere else now.

Man, hope those AAA discounts happen again next year. Cause I was thinking of booking the Contemporary for then but my guys wanna go back to "The Loaf". (staff was so amused by that nickname some of them took to also referring to the building as "The Loaf".

If you're considering staying there, esp. for a special occaision, DO IT! We could see the MK fireworks better from our marina view room at SL than we could in Royal Palm, (they looked so close you could touch them, you couldn't see the castle though).

Overall staying at the GF was fabulous and I really hope to do it again.

OOOOO love these new emoticons! Have to play with them a little...princess: pirate:

My impression of people walking around Epcot after just getting off of mission: space: :crazy2:
