We just returned from YC - May 24-31. We were there in October and in February. This trip we noticed several cutback changes: no more turndown service, no more Mickey toothbrushes or toothpaste, no more robes in the closet, and only 1 or 2 folks taking pool beverage and food requests. We also noticed for the 1st time ever that the bus service was awful - I've always bragged about how great it was. We always go in May - have for the last 7 years and we have never seen the crowds we just had so maybe this is somehow part of the bus situation although we never boarded full buses.

At any rate we still had a great time, still loved our water view room, and my DS still totally loved his pool games with Raouf.

We are going back again in October and I can't wait.

were you on the concierge level?

We were at the YC last year, did not stay at the concierge level, but we had a great room 2001, and we loved the view. The CMs there were very friendly and helpful. But IMHO the bus service is the pits. You share with the BC, BCV, the Swan and the Dolphin, depending on what park you are headed to. The boats that go to MGM and Epcot are really quite small when dealing with the large crowds that let out of the parks at night. We walked back from MGM one night and we beat the boat back to the YC.

I guess it is just what you are expecting. I just came back from Yacht Club also staying May 24-31 and have never had a better experience. Granted this was my first experince with a Deluxe. The buses were shared with BC, BCV, Swan and Dolphin but I didn't find it to be that big of a problem, as a matter of fact I saw empty buses come and find no one to pick up several times. I waited for a bus more than 15 minutes only once and found the boat service to MGM to be very good and never saw the boat full. When the crowds are low and there aren't as many people to pick up it makes sense to stop at more resorts that are close by..

I think at some times of the year they share bus service with BWI also! Atleast that's how it was in Feb. '02.:(

That is one thing I hate about the deluxes. Except AKL their bus service is great. CSR has the best bus service out of the resorts we have stayed at. The other moderates are good too. We have visited all the deluxes for lunch, dinner, etc.. and although the monorails and boats are fun they are really slow. Plus who wants to pay a premium and then have to stop at 3 other hotels on the busses!

MamaQuack,

I assume you were on concierge level. How was the rest of Concierge? How was the food offerings? Anything special? What room did you have and what was the view of? Did you ask for the robes?

Except on concierge, I don't believe any deluxes supply robes, toothbrushes. None that I've been at have.

Who is Rauof and what did he/she do? Was the pool crowded?

We'll be there in three months! Can't believe how excited I am and it's still so long to go.

Glad you had a great time. Look forward to any other info or tips!

Sharon,

We have always stayed Concierge until Oct 2002 & feb 2003 and then this trip May 2003. On the Oct and Feb trips all the ammenities were there. Last May when we stayed Concierge we were disappointed and that is what made us try "regular rooms". We had stayed Concierge YC for the previous 6 years.
Anyway, in Oct we were in a 1st floor Beach Club Villa due to the renovations at YC(I loved it - DS hated it-no view). The amenities were there and the service was great. In February we had a waterview (2157) and overlooked the wedding chapel. Again, great housekeeping, great amenities and plenty of staff - again, never a bus complaint.

Maybe this last week was just overwhelming with all the UK visitors and the local FL folks who were out of school earlyl

The pools were active but not overly crowded. The lifeguards did an exceptional job of removing towels on long unoccupied chairs.

Raouf - he is a Saint. Does pool activities with the kids daily around 2 o'clock - the patience of Job. He is a kind, true hearted loving man. My child considers time with him as important as park time.

Have fun!
