Just back from WDW using MYW dining plan

Hello.
So glad to hear you had a successful experience with the plan. We're going in June with dining for 6 nights and can't wait.
Two questions (I tried to dig through the thread to see if they were answered already, if they were I apologize for making someone repeat themselves).
1). For the snack, is it a drink and a food item. For example: a water and a popcorn, or do you choose ONE?
2). can you get any non-alcoholic beverage on the menu, like a shake, smoothie, etc?
Thanks so much, June can't get here fast enough!

As to the snack choice - it's one item, so you'd have to choose.

I have read some of the responses to your post and I wanted to know of you used the plan for Charactrer meals??? Was there a problem using them or making a PS.

We are going in Sep.. was there last Sep and I know that this is a money saver. Especially if you book Character meals. We figure maybe one per day that alone pays for the package.
We did only one character meal this trip, but sure, you can book them if that's what you like. There was no problem using the MYW dining plan for the character meals. Making the PSs stayed the same too.

We enjoy the character meals but they tend to be loud and a bit crazy. Once in a while we like a more quiet meal. I think the quietest meal we had was a late meal at Cape May when others were clearing out, that was kind of nice. :lovestruc

Once I was able to get a frozen coke which was the same cost as a drink. I don't know about smoothies. Are they the same cost or do they cost more?
Both the popcorn and the drink cost $2.75. :3dglasses

ETA: also see response #44

what do you think of the new and improved upgrade of my name and what not

:hourglass I still like my hourglass

Do you get an appetizer at dinner? I think you do if you goto a signature restaurant and use 2 table services? Anyone else know for sure? TIA

Even if it's not a signature restaurant, if there are apps on the menu then yes, you get one. Kids have to order off the kids menu where available and they don't list apps for kids, but they can share yours. ;)

Oh, I thought I had heard that if there was no kid's appetizer, they could order one off the adult menu?? I sure hope all the CMs have got it figured out before we arrive at high season Spring Break.

We don't usually order appetizers or dessert so having two apps for our family was more than enough already. We didn't attempt to order apps for the kids off the adult menu so I don't know what would have happened. All I know is the way we worked it it was a lot more food than we're used to eating, and in fact my clothes feel tight despite all the walking we did, LOL :crowded:

I was in Orlando last week on business and stopped by the All Star Movies. I spoke with Guest Services about a bunch of things for my holiday next week, and one was the children's appetizer. I was told basically my son would get a "child's size portion" of an appetizer or something else (i.e. extra fries, etc).

Yet another interesting twist to this confusion...

:scratchin I can't help but wonder how that would play out at the restaurant! :rotfl:

We have the dinning plan and I will give a full report when we get back next week. I hope they have some (more) of the kinks worked out. :teeth:

I think it's really going to boil down to a restaurant by restaurant decision...which sucks because it just adds to the indecision....

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through this thread. Thank you so much for all of your incredibly useful information!!!! I am obsessive planning our first trip to Disney. I just knew it was a good deal to begin with, but it's so nice to have this reassurance!! I can't wait!

Can you get the Dole Whips in Adventureland or the soft serves in Fantasyland as a snack?
Thanks for the info!!!!!!! :cool1:

Not unless something's changed. Sorry... :mickeybar

I was not sure if I was going to do the Dining Option, but after I seen you saved so much I could not turn this deal down. Thanks again.

:cool1: Thanks so much for the info. Reading a lot of concerns that cashiers are not familiar with the plan. Hopefully this will be much improved when we arrive in May with the Grandson.

Cheers and Thanks

:flower: :flower: Thanks for all the info! I know this was asked very early in the post and I wondered if anyone had any new info ... are there any menu restrictions regarding what could be ordered? (ex. very expensive meal, say $30 vs. the average priced meals or say a $10 shrimp appetizer if the others are priced around $5). Hope this makes sense. We are thinking of adding the dining plan for our group of 7 in April but my mom and I have to pick out every little detail and get an answer before we can make our decision, it just seems to good to be true. :flower: :flower:

Thanks again,
