Jlawall--

Interesting that you should be among the first to post on this thread! Why? Well, I attempted to log onto the Dis Boards from the Magic on Tuesday and I discovered that you were still logged in on the computer that I was using. I tried several times to log you out but was very unsucsessful!

Everyone--

The weather was absolutely gorgeous the entire trip. It was very hot and humid in Key West, exceptionally hot in Grand Cayman, and equally as hot in Cozumel. We only saw rain once, during our stay at Castaway Cay. The rain was coming down pretty hard for about 45 minutes to an hour but there was no lightning or thunder. So, we just got in the water and played! Jacqui, the Cruise Director on our cruise, referred to this as Liquid Sunshine and I think she was right! (BTW, Jacqui informed us that she will be on the Magic for quite some time to come. Which is absolutely GREAT because I think she's the BEST!)

Some highlights from the Disney Magic:

* We saw the adult Dueling Pianos on several occasions and I can now appreciate Rae's ranting and raving about Fidelio and Anton. I had encountered Dueling Pianos on my other Disney Magic cruises and was not at all impressed but these two performers did an outstanding job! I only hope that Disney doesn't do away with them and their show. However, from comments made by the two performers and others on the ship, it seems that my wish might not come true.

* The new menu at Palo's is really outstanding. Excellent variety and everything that I tasted was outstanding!!!

* On Monday we attended Disney's Navigator Series "Art of the Ship Tour." Our host was Que and he did an outstanding job of highlighting some of the little-known facts about the Disney Magic and Disney Cruise Lines. He also stated that at this time plans for a third ship had been finalized although no information concerning a name, itinerary, time frame were known. However, he did make mention that "Disney Dreams" would be a good fit for a third vessel. (As a note to this: Later on in the week, during the Castaway Club Reception, Captain Tom said that no plans for fleet expansion had been made at this time.)

* It is hereby CONFIRMED that the "Beverage Coolers" in the staterooms are indeed mini-refrigerators! On Friday evening I witnessed four of these units being taken down our deck hall. The backs of the units were facing out and they have fans, condensation coils, and cooling units.

* As has been mentioned, the 24-Hour Beverage Station is no more! It is regularly closed off each night. I'm not sure of what time this takes place but it was always closed by midnight.

* The 50's Sock Hop has been replaced with a 60's Dance Party. They hang up a huge UK flag in Rockin' Bar D and hand out those glow-cords for people to wear on their heads. They said this was only the third week for the replacement.

* Our service team (Server: Philip, Assistant Server: Shantol, and Stateroom Host: Elmer) were all fantastic, as was the cast as a whole.

* The $400.00 onboard credit IS in effect for only the new Eastern Itineraries. We booked the September 4th, 2004 Eastern with ports of call of San Juan and St. Thomas. This was $799.00 for category 11 on deck 7. We hope to book the week before or the week after this date when they release the Florida Resident rates so that we can sail on back-to-backs.

Some highlights from the ports of call:

* In Key West we visited the Hemingway House and the Key West Historical Museum. Both were great. We also strolled along Duval Street which seemed to be especially dirty, smelly, and obnoxious this time around.

* Stingray City is a must. Great fun to watch everyone scream and thrash around in the water.

* Chankanaab seems like a nice place to visit. However, you can probably do this on your own rather than through Disney. Admission is $20 per adult and a taxi to the park from the ship was $13 (with $3 tip) for 3 people. We got there rather late and would have enjoyed spending more time at the facility. They have quite a bit to do (most of it at additional cost) such as miniature golf, shows, scuba and snorkeling equipment for rent, lots of bars, lost of loungers, nature trails, botanical gardens, etc. One thing to note: We didn't realize that their are no "sand" beaches here. Just rocky cliff. If you are looking for someplace to wade or walk along the shore, forget it. Once you're in the water the depth drops off very quickly and you either tread water or stand on the not-so-comfortable rocks.

* Many people were complaining about the weather at Castaway Cay. I really enjoyed the rain shower that we experienced and it didn't negatively affect my visit in any way. I heard some people demand a refund due to the rain on the island. Thankfully, the Cast Members at Guest Services smiled and said, um, "no."

I'll post more soon. (Including info on our Dis Meets!) Any questions? :)

Thanks for that review!! I'm glad the rain didn't bother you at all. It's a person's attitude that determines whether rain will ruin their vacation or not and I think it's ridiculous that people think Disney can have any control over the weather!!

Glad you had a great time. Was Phillip from Croatia? We had him on our May 2001 cruise and saw him again on our May 2003 cruise. He's a great guy!

WDWLVR--

Yes! Philip was from Croatia! A very nice guy. He's very soft-spoken and I think a little bit shy but he went out of his way to make our cruise an outstanding one!

Shantol is from Jamaica and she was excellent as well! Very funny personality and great wit.

We also had Erika from South Africa for Palo Champagne Brunch. We enjoyed her company so much that we requested her as our server for dinner. (We also saw her for High Tea!)

Three Circles, Welcome Back, BD and Sara came to the Radisson so we got to meet them, glad you had a good time.
I can't believe people would want a refund for 45 minutes of Rain. When I cruised in March, we had a rain shower come over us (it was only at the Serenity Bay side of Castaway.) But it was fun. Oh well, glad you had a good time.

Glad to see that you are home safe and sound,Jason.

I'm sitting in the Wonderland Cafe in DisneyQuest. The kids are off having more fun while DH and I relax in a booth. Our flight home doesn't leave until 6:30 pm. I still feel as if I'm on the ship.

We also had Philip and Shantol for diningroom servers. They were wonderful. Shantol was especilly attentive to DS11 whilePhilip was great with vegetarian suggestions for our DD13.

We didn't let the rain on Castaway Cay bother us eiher. Hey, we were alsready wet when the skies opened aound noon. It chased a few people back to the ship but that just left more room for the rest of us!

I'm looking forward to getting home and have big plans for the treadmill. I really enjoyed the great food but there's a price to pay for it. My waistband is feeling just a bit snug!

Lisa--

Ahhhh... how I miss everyone of you guys already!!! (Not to mention the Magic, food, Cast Members, ports of call, entertainment... Need I continue?!)

I'm glad that you guys are able to keep busy until the flight. I know that several people were going directly to the airport from the port and were going to wait until 3:00 or 4:00 flights!

I've really been fighting back the tears today. It just doesn't seem right that they make you get off such a beautiful ship! :)

Were you guys able to book while onboard? Travis and I booked the September 4th, Eastern - San Juan Cruise for next year. I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long though!

Well, off to get the photos developed! Need to update the picture in my signiture.

Take care guys and have a safe flight home! We'll talk to you soon.

Did you at least book on board for your back to back. Even if you don't get $400, you will get $200. Or did they stop that?
You must LOVE that Fl. resident rate.

Glad you all had fun!!!

Thx for sharing, sorry about the logout situation. I haven't been on the ship for 2 weeks so it's been there for awhile. I'd like to hear how the theme nights went. I've heard conflicting reports about the band Spirit. We had a really good time on our cruise in Rockin' Bar D.

Stingray City was amazing. I freaked out from the rays but the water and sand there was immaculate. I really enjoyed that excursion.

We also had rain on CC but it was pretty bad. Most people left the island by 2pm. I didn't hear anyone complain. It was the first time CC wasn't perfect but we still had a nice time.

Thx again!!

Mjasp--

We only booked the September 4th Eastern cruise. The Florida Resident rates have been $599 so we should be able to book at that rate when they open. We asked Donna (the onboard DCL sales agent) and she said that it would be likely that we would be able to get the $599 rate at that time next year. If we had booked onboard, we would have received the $200 onboard credit but NOT the FL Resident rate. Also, we cannot use the FL Resident rate and the onboard credit on the same sailing. It's one or the other.

At any rate, at least it's something to look forward to! :)

Ahhh, the offers cannot be combined. Thats fair though, as the FL res. rate is very good.

Hi,

And a special hello to our fellow 8/16 cruisers.

We AGREE 100% with our fellow Western Cruisers, our trip was simply amazing...we booked while on the Western for the 8/21/04 Eastern...and I am already counting the days.

My DH is doing laundry to a calypso CD we picked up in Garnd Cayman. We tried to catch the Magic as she left port this afternoon, but we missed her.

I would say I am officially hooked on Disney. They are quite the class act and to quote my DH "worth every penny we paid" ( and that is alot coming from him!)

I have never been so sad to see a vacation end!!!!! I don't think words can express how much I enjoyed this vacation. I will remember hearing the ship's horn playing the first few notes of "when you wish upon a star" for the rest of my days.

To reinforce what the Three Circles said...Sting Ray City is a must!!!!

I had a blast. I actually think I had a better time with the Rays than my 11 yr old DD!.

Our servers Edwardo & Mlanden kept us quite happy and well fed.

The only compliant I have is that there is too much to do for everyone. And it isn't really a complaint. I think we will enjoy the Eastern next year, as we will spend more time at sea on the ship. We choose to spend alot of time in port during the Western trip and didn't get to spend as much time on the Magic as I would have liked. Since the new Eastern Itinerary only has 3 ports of call, I think we will have more quality time with the Magic and her exceptional staff.

I will be glad to share more later, but laundry, food shopping and other boring domestic chores are calling and ruining my MAGIC high.

Bye for now.

max & Jason~
I captured pictures of your ship leaving last week and going by two palms. I know Andy has some too..
if you want to send me a pm, I can email them to you ... I'm not set up to post them to the boards yet... Andy has to show me how to do that.

WOW, sounds like a great vaca!!!!!!!! Thx for sharing!!!!!!!!!

So tell us all about BD. Was he a wallflower or his witty internet self?

Hmmm....

BD. Well, he's isn't what you would probably expect. Although I only ran into him a couple of times throughout the cruise (at the main Dis Meet, during the Stingray City excursion, and a few times on the ship).

All in all I'd say he's a really nice guy and, believe it or not, pretty quiet. Although he did manage to get in a couple of one-liners while all 70 or so Dis members were trying to pose for pictures. :p

Max123--

So glad to see that you enjoyed your first (of many) Disney Cruise!!! Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of you around the Dis Boards! :)

Are you guys referring to Buckaroo's Dad?

If so, DH spent some time talking to him and he was the dinner companion of one of our DD's new friends and he is quite a nice, sincere guy.

He is quite down to earth and friendly, just like MOST of our fellow 8/16 cruisers.

thanks
