hi all-
not sure where i should post this, but i will start here because so many of you helped me plan this trip and many of you asked me to tell you how my engagement at WDW turned out, so here it goes. for those of you who dont know, i went to WDW last week to propose to my girlfriend. SHE SAID YES!
10/21-
arrived at POR via MEARS bus around 5pm (took about an hour and 15 min from the airport to the hotel as we made 3 stops at the airport and they were real real slow getting us a ride). checked in to POR, got my requested room in Magnolia, plus got a free fridge for the entire stay...not sure why, but we did! freshened up and took the bus to MK so we could get our AP's validated and activated. took the resort monorail to GF (got to ride up front first time!), got off at POLY because we had time to kill before our 8pm PS at Citricos. walked around POLY and then over to GF via the Wedding pavilion. great romantic walk! got to Citricos at 730p. i had called the manager of citricos a week prior and set up a whole scheme which will be discussed later. upon our arrival, i made eye contact with the manager, and knew that everything would now be ok. the manager took us to our table, stopping by the desserts and giving us a brief tour of the restaurant. he then took us to the table overlooking the lagoon (window seat), and sent our waiter over. once we ordered dinner (we both had the lamb, and the blue cheese/lemon vinagrette salad), i got up to go to the bathroom and gave the manager my engagement ring. we ate dinner (food was some of the best food i have ever tasted), and ordered dessert when WISHES began. 8 minutes later, they brought over my Tiramisu, and a huge dish covered with a silver cover and put it in front of my girlfriend. they waiter opened it up, and inside was a plate with the following--a chocolate stamp of the castle, a choc mousse thing, and a white Cindarellas choclate slipper filled with whipped cream and topped with raspberrrys. on one of the berrys, was the engagement ring!! i got down on my knee, gave a little speech to my girlfriend, and asked her to marry me. the whole restaurant broke out in applause (they were all facing our table watching WISHES and noticed that i was on one knee). it was so romantic...all this while the fireworks were going off over the castle. after my girlfriend broke down in tears and said YES!!!, the waiter and manager came back to take pix and gave us our own copies of the Citricos menus with "CONGRATS JORDAN AND MELANIE" on top of the menu. it was just awesome. the evening was perfect. we hung around for another hour and talked, then bussed it back to POR for the night. THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED ME FIGURE ALL THIS OUT!!! IT WAS AMAZING!
10/22 - Flustered with pixie dust and love, we went to MK from 9-6 and had a great day...park was a tad crowded, but not too bad. saw Minnie and Mickey, told them we got engaged, and Mickey got down on one knee and pretended to propose to my fiancee. got a great pic of that. i must say, i do love WDW, but i was very dissapointed with POTC after visiting disneyland twice this year.
10/23 - EPCOT 10-6, future world was not too crowded, i felt world showcase was very crowded. didnt think Test Track was all that great...would have preferred if they kept World of Motion instead. didnt do Mission Space because we thought we would get sick. loved Spaceship Earth...hope they never take the last bit of real EPCOT splendor away! went to MK from 7-11...saw WISHES and SPECTROMAGIC right in front of the castle, both were just magical.
10/24 - Downtown Disney - spent a fortune of souveniers. had a nice lunch there (some sandwich place), went back to hotel, then off to MNSSHP from 5pm-midnight. this was great, walked on splash mountain (we were the only ones in frontierland for about 15 minutes). longest line was 5 minutes. party was great, parade was awesome. loved every minute of the party. but get this. me and my now fiancee, were dressed as fred and daphne from Scooby Doo. we got to the park around 5pm, and walked down main street. a little girl in a wheelchair asked my fiancee if she would sign her autograph book (thinking it was really daphne). my fiancee obliged, signed the book. within 10 SECONDS, a disney manager came running over and scolded her for signing the book. he said it takes away from disney magic and not to every do that again. i was in shock and didnt even know how to formulate a response. was he right in telling this to my fiancee? would he rather of her said "NO I CANT SIGN YOUR BOOK" to a small child??? i was disgusted but didnt want to let it ruin our evening so i let it go...any thoughts on this?!?!?!?!?
10/25 - AK all day...was not impressed at all by this park. we'll leave it at that.
10/26 - MGM all day...had a blast! this place was great, TOT rocked. the shows (mermaid, walt disney story, animation, etc) were fascinating. food was great. one CM told us the park was at capacity this day, however the longest wait we saw for TOT was 35 min.
10/27 - EPCOT in AM, MK in the PM, Wishes at night, then Illuminations. Another great day at Disney World.
10/28 - left in early afternoon for home. was very sad to leave.
All in all, our engagement at WDW was a very magical experience. to all those thinking about getting engaged there or having a surprise of some sort for a loved one or friend...here is my advice...CONTACT SOMEONE AT WDW AND TELL THEM YOUR INTENTIONS. they do seem to geniunely care about your plan and will do everything to help you out. i told POR about my plan and they ensured we got a real nice room, citricos went out of their way, and everyone we told on the streets of the parks stopped and wanted to hear the story. it was just great.
thanks again DISBOARDs for all your help in planning my vacation and making this one of the most magical experiences of my life!!!
