Just back from MNSSHP-a little different this year

If you your DD can stay up late, I would stay until after the park closes @ midnight. the shops on Main St. will stay open ... we take our time shopping ... the crowds will thin ..... ask a CM how late the ferry runs ... and just enjoy the park with very few people in it. I believe the worst time to leave is right after the fireworks. UGH! Or another good time to leave is while the 2nd parade is taking place. Most of the people will have left after the fireworks, others will be staying for the 2nd parade, so the ferry will be fairly uncrowded while the 2nd parade is happening.

The intel I have is that for hard-ticket parties, the stores close up fairly promptly at midnight. (Not true on a normal park close.) Is this not right?

I had a great time last night, but Im not looking to go again until Fantasyland finishes expanding.

When I went last year for MNSSHP (twice, once on a girls' trip and once with my hubby) they closed the doors to the shops as soon as the closing music started playing, exactly at midnight. If you weren't in the store, you couldn't go in.

Same thing happened when we went to evening Magic Hours at Hollywood Studios- shops were closed right when the evening hours ended- if you weren't inside, you couldn't go in.

"Normal" park closings were fine- they wanted you to shop and take your time, because they had to stay while they swept areas of the park. If we were in Epcot, we could shop for a while in Future World... In MK, on Main Street...

:goodvibes

Last year at MVMCP we attended, many of the Main street shops were open WAAAAY past the end of the party. :thumbsup2
Of course, the park was absolutely jam-packed anyway, it was bitterly cold...and fools like us were grabbing up almost anything made of fleece! :sad2:

AWESOME!...So STOKED!
Our Autistic son is gonna go bonkers! Different parades, characters, etc. Plus mild weather!-(he can't function outside in extreme temps.:sad1:)...
My significant other wants to surprise the kids with this trip, the
"whole-get-in-the-car-and-drive-straight-to-the-airport" kind of surprise... but I'm afraid I won't be able to keep the secret.
I even looked at COSTUMES at the store yesterday...:scared1:

Have AS-Movies booked, but do y'all think transportation home might be be "better" from a mod...i.e. CBR or POR late after the party ends?
Wanted to keep it cheap, but catch a different resort than the Christmas trip (POR again)....TIA for all the great help
!

We've stayed at ASMovies the last 3 years and never had a problem getting back! Always plenty of buses! We'll be there again this Halloween!

Blondietink, that my was exact thought!! As reading through this thread, I thought maybe it would be good to wait until the second parade starts :) DD is not a big fireworks fan, they scare her. I was thinking of sitting though the first parade and finishing up some trick or treating during the fireworks and then leaving after the second parade starts.

I've never been to MNSSHP before but just wondering, could it have been that crowded because it was a Friday and locals attended as well? Wasn't it one of the first nights opened? I'm hoping that during the week crowds may be a little lighter?? Do they sell unlimited tickets? I was under the impression that it was a limited number sold for each night?

I too was at the 9/20 party and this was our fourth time at a party. It was crazy! We will not be doing another party in the future. We didn't get any pictures because of the crazy lines, we only stop three times for candy because of the lines. It was a disappointment...not worth the extra money.
