Hi All: This is our 4th MNSSHP and we always attend the 2nd party. I hate to admit it, but I left this year's saying we probably wouldn't do it again. We definitely had fun, but I really found this year to feel much more crowded than in the past. I do think this is due to Toon Town being closed and the same # of people packed into a smaller park. Ride lines were still very short (as usual). Trick or Treating was impossible until about 11:00 pm. I just wasn't going to spend party time waiting in the very long lines for candy. The missing Treat Trail with Alice and friends was definitely missed. We only saw the Mad Hatter by the teacups, not the usual Alice characters we are used to seeing on the treat trail. They may have been in the park somewhere, but we missed them. They now have a treat trail set up by Splash Mountain, but it was so crowded. The exit was also the exit to Splash, creating a crazy mass of people exiting at the same time (and people entering through the exit-it was a little confusing as to which was the ride entrance and which was the treat entrance as they were side by side).

They are selling these adorable popcorn holders this year, Mickey shaped and he is dressed as a ghost. I bought 2 (at $12.00 each ) for my kids. Once they ate some of the popcorn, they noticed that the sides were pulling apart and the lids would not stay on securely (they were carrying them by the handles out of the park). They are not dishwasher safe (like the other, cheaper popcorn tubs) and I can't really wash them well since they don't hold water (the sides are coming apart). Actually there is a big "Made in China sticker on each one. They are ADORABLE, but I would advise you to save your $ and just get the regular Halloween tubs.

The parade was great as usual, but I didn't notice anything new. Leaving the park at 11:15 or so was just scary. The huge mass of humanity all pushing to the ferry boats was dangerous...strollers running over feet, crazy. In hindsight, we should have stayed in the park a bit longer (after the 2nd parade there was a mass exit) but my kids were wiped out. We went upstairs on the ferry (to TTC) but very few people would (they knew they would get off last) so it was packed downstairs. We got off last, but honestly I was happy to wait and not get trampled. No monorails=CRAZY!

We did have a wonderful dinner at CRT at 4:15 and were able to get into the park with our MNSSHP at 4:00. Lines to get wrist bands were long at 4:00 (seemed like fewer CMs than in past years). We saw many character spots, but lines were pretty long in most cases. I can not imagine the parties closer to Halloween. Good luck! We missed the hag this year (saw her outside Snow White ride last year). No face painting.

Anyway, these are just a few observations. We love MK and always have fun. I imagine that this event will seem less crowded when the Fantasyland expansion is done.

Good to know. We are going in 2 weeks. We wouldn't have gone but someone paid for our tickets. I REALLY don't like the parks when they are crowded which is why I wouldn't have gone. But I've just got it in my head to go with the flow. Since we are going with the people who bought our tickets, Im just gonna follow their lead. Should be fun though since Ive never been to the halloween party.

Take a pic of your mug!

Also, I am trying to decide if I should dress my 5 year old up or not. Im thinking the heat and awkwardness of a costume might be a pain in the parks.

Be sure to get a good spot for the parade...if it is your first time you will love it. My DD8 wore a Minnie costume with short sleeves and she was fine in it. Lots of kids were dressed up. I don't know if you will think it is crowded. Ride times are so low. Just compared to past years, it definitely felt much tighter in there! Have fun!

Ill probabl think it's crowded :rotfl: It doesnt take much for me, lol. My son's favorite thing, even over the rides, are the parades so I will focus on that if I can. I'll wait for the second showing. :) Im excited.

Take a pic of your popcorn mug!

I think leaving the park is going to be on my mind the whole night. I wonder if my DH will drop DD and I off and then I could just walk to the Contemporary after the party and take a cab. It just does not sound fun. I wish they'd at least add a bus to the TTC!

We were at the first party. The Dwarfs were by the Splash Treat Trail so it made it seem even more packed in that area.

We decided to to the 2nd parade and really were glad we did. We got a spot for the fireworks right in the hub (Tomorrowland side) about 15-20 minutes ahead of time, then moved up to across the castle for the Villain show (10:05?) and 10:30 parade. It worked out perfectly. We came home with a TON of candy. We only rode Splash Mountain because we had already had 2 day in MK.

Thanks for the report. For the first time in 7 years, we have decided NOT to do the MNNSHP due to increased crowds and a decline in the party "perks" coupled with ever increasing ticket costs. Your report (and others) reinfornces that we have made the right decision.

I do plan to catch the Hallowishes fireworks from the 4th floor observation deck at the Contemporary one night while we are there.

This is exactly what I have been worried about. Thanks for the heads up-we like to stay out late, especially for MNSSHP b/c it's fun playing in the dark, it sounds like our best bet is to stay out "super late". DS4 has autism and a super crowded boat will just set him off at the end of a long evening.

We have our ADR at LTT at 4:15 (we are hanging out at the resort on our MNSSHP day so we should be rested up for a late night).

That's disappointing. I really wanted one of these last year but never bought it, so it was on my must-do list for this year. Thanks for the warning! :sad1:

is there a link to the map for the MNSSHP or can someone tell me what rides will be open and what will be closed??

We leave in a few days-- any one have a pic of the popcorn bucket to NOT get?? DS9 is already saying he will be asking for one!!

:rolleyes1 Got mine last year at Animal Kingdo. I have been taking the container apart and using the top rack to clean especially after DSIL make buttered pop corn. Cutest thing out there!

I went to the very first Halloween party on the 13th and we had a wonderful time! I'm sorry you didn't have such a great experience. We didn't hit all of the trick or treat trails but we still got a good amount of candy. We got on Splash before the party so I didn't witness the mess with that exit or the trick or treat trail located there. We also didn't buy a bucket..i wanted to use one of our snack credits for the popcorn so we got the same bag. We didn't bother me with the characters although we went to the dance party in Fronteriland and both of my children were able to dance with Woody. We stayed until midnight and fortunately things werent crazy. We had to wait for a second bus since we couldn't get on the first that pulled up but the buses were comign back to back. We did watch the fireworks and the 2nd parade.

I may be wrong but I really do believe there is a bus from MK to the TTC. Its over by the resort busses. I could have swore I saw one after our last trip in the summer and we were smooshed on the ferry (horrid experience). The next day we took the bus to MK and when we were getting off the bus I could have swore I saw a corral for the TTC, which I said I wished I would have known about the night before. Again, I may be wrong or maybe it was just for the busy summer months (a few days after July 4th).

Thanks for the info. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it.
Thankfully it seems like from your post that a lot of what you didn't like had nothing to do with being bad service or anything like that and more with the fact that you were comparing it to your previous trips.
I'm still going to buy the popcorn bucket It's too cute not to. I just wont let DD carry it around. Kids tend to bang things up quite quickly.
I think once the Fantasyland expansion finishes MNSSHP will change again. I also don't plan on leaving till 1 or so.

I'd have to say that I agree with your points! After my party on last Friday, I am not sure I will go back for MNSSHP next year. It definitely felt more crowded then in the past. My 4 years going I got on BTM during the 1st parade and didn't even have to get off cause there was no one waiting when we got back. This time that didn't happen.

Experienced the same issue with the popcorn bucket. Had been looking so forward to getting one this year too...

The ferry back to the TTC was as you explained. I was very fearful of a stampeed to get on the ferry and then no one would go upstairs. Like you said, I went up there and just waiting til the end to get off. What I disliked most was that they had a sign up that SAID there was a bus back to TTC, but there really wasn't.
