Last year, we purchased 210 Points in the Beach Club - - and in return, we got an incentive trip - 7 free nights to stay anywhere on Disney Property (but not the GF or All stars)... so we used this trip this week to stay at the Polynesian. I've always wanted to stay at the Poly - it's one of the originals! The free stay got us a standard Garden View room - - We got Fiji, room 1315. Overlooking the marina and volcano pool. It was nice.... kinda dated, but nice nonetheless. Location location location!! Loved being on the monorail.

But let me just say - for the avg. price that this room goes for - $249 a night, I believe? -- I have never been so thankful that the rest of our Disney vacations will be spent in DVC 1 Br units (hopefully)... For the money we'll save in breakfasts / coffee alone, it's all worth it. The quality of the DVC units is superior to the standard hotel rooms Disney has to offer, in my opinion. Our friends were staying at OKW, and I finally got to have a look at their rooms - outstanding - looking forward to staying there sometime in the future..

I just had to post this to express how GLAD we are that we invested in DVC last year. I knew last year it was a good decision, and this past trip further enforced that for me.

BCV in Oct - can't wait. ;)

How wonderful that staying at the Polynesian, somewhere most folks never get to stay, makes you appreciate your DVC. I think that says a lot. Glad you had a good time. Bet it won't be too terribly long before you are thinking add-on.

We own at both OKW and at BCV. We have stayed at WLV and BWV, and I can honestly say that the only location I would choose not to stay is WLV. We know we are more the tropical type people and WLV is a bit dark for us.

KaterBell,

I agree with your sentiments. We stayed at the Poly this past winter, and it was the fulfillment of a wish for me, as I had always wanted to stay there. While it was nice, I definately will not miss it upon going back to DVC.

Isn't it great to have your DVC decision affirmed in this way!

We have looked at DVC but have never heard of an incentive trip. How did you get that added perk?

Thanks

At the time we purchased last year (March 2002) we had the option of either $5 off per point, or 7 free nights stay to use before july 2003. I took the incentive trip of 7 free nights, as I knew I could bank the points and just use them for a bigger trip for a 2BR next May.

Right now, they're offereing $1500 off total purchase - so the incentives change often, but they still are worth about the same thing....

But you guys are right - the Poly was somewhere I wanted to stay - I'm glad I did, but ..... Helloooooooo Home Away From Home resorts ;)

Hmm... Add-on. Sounds tempting.... :) Maybe when the family expands, or if they let us bring the Pug to WDW. :)
