Ok, Here goes I'm mostly a lurker here but we just got back from Hilton Head and I thought I would share a little of our great trip!!
Cast - Me, Hubbie, ds3, ds2, my mom and dad, my "charming" sister, her hubbie and their ds2.
We checked in at 11am on sat 6/19 to a grand villa in just the bldg I requested 1822. (apologies to anyone unfortunate enough to be below 3 wild toddlers) We drove in from Louisville Ky and was thrilled to hear the welcome home. Room was not ready was told it should be by 5pm ?!?!? We decided to go to the beachhouse and change into swimming gear and lounge the day away. By 4pm were restless and decided to head over and see if our room was ready. We basically stood outside with carts full waiting for housekeeping to leave
Finally got settled and called Guiseppe's for takeout pizza (we are among the group who love this place)
Sunday father's day - headed to the beach/beachhouse for the day. (contrary to what I read earlier you could do a daily rental on chairs/umbrellas, my sister did this for $35/day) Late that afternoon drove to beaufort/lady's Island for dinner at steamer's. A great little hole in the wall place for seafood and the best hamburger I've ever had!!!!!
The rest of the week - I won't bore you w/day by day because it was the same every day for the most part...get up, pool, dinner, wine bed...but I will share some fun highlights.....
I enjoyed getting up very early 6am (don't normally just on beach vacations) for walks or bike rides to the beach house. I have some fabulous pictures of my boys in the early am on a near deserted beach.
Both pools were quite wonderful but a little crowded for me. However it was great to see my 3 yr old develop his new "swimming" skills...My 2 yr old though was way too brave. For those who saw a crazy woman on a dead run and jump in after a 2 yr old that was me...He just came up grinning.
Did see a kid pull a punch on another kid. Not nice. It seemed to be a group kids who thought they owned the pool and apparently believed this other boy was in their way so he punched him...The father nearly lost it and I can't say I blame him.
Also saw the GM of HH go down the slide in his dress clothes. Apparently he had a bet with the housekeeping staff that if they did everything correctly (or something to that effect) he'd go down the slide in his clothes. It was fun to see the staff enjoying it so much.....
B'Lou Crabbe was wonderful and charming as always. He's such an interesting person to talk with and listen to. Disney has a realy treasure in him that I hope they appreciate.
Had a couple minor issues and my compliments to "Mark" and "Sarah" for always responding confidently to whatever we brought to their attention....Also another CM who's getting to be a favorite of mine is RaShawn in the mercantile..He's just always so pleasant to me when I'm in there...He's been around for awhile and I'm always glad when he's there.
Oh yeah... the grand villa is wonderful. We had 6 adults and 3 busy toddlers and I never felt crowded (even with m y crabby sister) I felt like there was lots of room to spread out...We had a lovely march view and from our bedroom could see all the way across. We had a couple thunderstorms in the late afternoon /evening and it was wonderful to sit in the rockers and watch them roll in.
Did a dolphin cruise through Disney but Scott wasn't our captain can't recall the name of the guy who was (he graduated from ball state) He was great though. SHowed us were to watch the dolphins everyday w/out having to be on a boat. (Palmetto Bay docks , bar called woody's walk out to the pier at noon or 5-530p when the fishing boats return) Saw lots of dolphins up close and personal and he let my 3 yr old "drive" the boat.
All the castmembers we came in contact with were wonderful!!! Ross and Ross(not really) at Gyotaku, Crystal and the other whose names I can't recall at the unbirthday party who made me feel comfortable leaving my 3 yr old and the wonderful guy who gave my son a candy bar because he got a splinter and was just beside himself when we tried to get it out....
Oh yeah we had great luck crabbing off the end of the pier caught 7-8 keepers that we took to our room and cooked for dinner one night..VERY YUMMY!!! Our boat captain told us to also try crabbing by the pier at harbourmasters and I also noticed people catching crabs over by the Kingfisher.
As far as eating out didn't do a whole lot just steamers mentioned above...Santa Fe cafe which has earned a favorite spot for me and my all time favorite Stripes..check my history and you'll see what I say about this place...If you want to splurge this is the place to go!!!!!! I promise it will be a place you will compare all other fanatastic restaurants against!!!
Anyway enough rambling. If I can answer questions let me know. By the way in all the trips I've been here I never knew there was a place to put trash under the bldgs...I feel stupid now but we've always shoved trash into the cans along the way. If I'd only known :-(
