Just back from our first trip to the Boardwalk. We had a great time - nice convenient valet parking - checked in at 2:30 and were welcomed home - bags in room within 5 minutes. We had a preferred view and found ourselves looking over the fun pool on the 4th floor. I was hoping for a BW view, especially since the place did not seem to be full.
We played putt-putt golf nearby on Friday afternoon and explored the Swann and Dolphin for the first time. Friday night we went to DD and ate at House of Blues and had an excellent meal (chicken for DW and ribs for me). DD was very crowded.
Went to EPCOT in the rain on Saturday, which was fun because we each had an umbrella and the ponchos looked to warm. Does the back entrance open before 11? We got there around 11:30 due to the weather. Had a nice breakfast sandwich at the BW Bakery. EPCOT was great because there were no crowds. Test Track was closed due to rain, but we rode that 3x the last time we were there, on probably the coldest morning in 5 years (12/30/00). We walked on the Mexican ride and the Norway ship ride Maelstrom, which apparently closed the next day for refurbishing until mid-Oct. Had a great lunch at our favorite spot - Yakitori Hut or whatever it is called! Had dinner at ESPN and also visited Atlantic Dance.
The room was very clean and everything worked - no complaints. There was some noise at the pool between 12 and 1 am both nights - mainly girls screaming, but tthey finally stopped.
To any bourbon lovers, I recommend trying the $10 sampling of bourbon in the bar in the hotel. You get to try three kinds. They also offer a flight of scotch or grand marnier.
On Sunday we checked out the Yacht and Beach Clubs for the first time and really liked the Yacht Club. We had lunch over there at the main restaurant, which was the only "ok" meal of our trip.
We drove back to Tampa in a record 80 minutes!
We really enjoyed it, but probably won't return there for quite a while, as the points are high and we have been to EPCOT enough. We mainly like VB, where we plan to spend 4 nights in Sept.
