3 full days, 2 nights in their rented RV. 2 minute walk to back entrance.

My gosh, that place needs a real good scrubbing!!!! Weeds everywhere, broken rides, paint falling off, no music on any rides, garbage.

Kids had a blast, the water rides were a lot of fun (especially Tornado and Kahuna) and we never waited more than 30 seconds to ride anything except the water slides (5 minutes - tops). First thing both mornings we were allowed to ride over and over on anything we went on.

Overall, it was definately worth the money. RV was nice, short walk, cool lazer and fireworks show each night. $430 US total for 5 of us.

BTW
RV's sleep 8

In the past I have driven down form Oakville after the Labour Day weekend. Irt was VERY cheap, $15 I think for the day. Of course the waterpark and a few other things were closed.

We are heading to Cedar Point on the 23rd. Hope it's worth the drive! S

We went to Cedar piont on Canada Day weekend and had a blast! We crossed the border in Sarnia. And once we got across the drive was only just over 3 hrs. The drive was not bad, there is just some junky construction in the Detroit area, really crappy road surface. We took the nice scenic route to Sandusky after Toledo. Sandusky downtown lake area is very pretty! Have fun when you go!

Whats is like for non roller coaster riders? Is there still lots to do. We are also thinking of travelling down in later August. For us about 10 hour drive.

i have heard the park condition has deteriorated over the past few years, and especially now that it is not 6 flags...
I tried to reserve a 2 night stay at the larger Rv and the fees were $600 for 2 nights.... So it was for a weekend, but that was too hight. i am puttting money towards Disney instead...:goodvibes

We have Cedar Fair [Cedar Point and Canada's Wonderland] season's passes, so that part of the Cedar Point trip is covered. I'd like to stay at Hotel Breakers because it's the closest hotel to the park...you can walk right in. However, it's $250 a night x 3 nights = $750, plus food, so that's over $1000 for 3 nights/4 days. If you break it down per person, it's not that bad...about $100 a day. That's less than I spend at Disney World. DH thinks we should stay at Breakers Express....$149 a night. But then we have to pay for parking, drive to and from the park daily, and Breakers Express doesn't have restaurants or an indoor pool and it's not on the beach. The difference in cost is about $270 over four days. I think it's Hotel Breakers for us! Our plan is to REST and ride the Tallest Roller Coaster in the WORLD! Being on the beach will be nice. We plan early mornings in the park then take the rest of the day off for swimming and beaching! If we do that over three days, I think we'll see and do everything we want at a leisure pace. I'll report back after the trip.

Right now DH is on holidays. We went up to our trailer last night, dh is cycling with a buddy this morning, so I took the kids home for computer time and cable TV. We will head back to the trailer in about 30 minutes.

Blessings, Sandra

i think disney has set high standards for us...i too expect a park to look good--not worn down and dirty-kwim!
i felt the same way when we went to 6 Flags in Denver last year..it just looked tired.

The new owners just took over this year and yes they have there work cut out for them. We also noticed the prices jumped for campsites bug time. We will hold off for a few years before we head back there. Next year we might try cedar point though.

We went this June (still early season rates) & found it to be the same as previous annual stays (2 others in our camper, & before that 2 stays in their RVs). Yeah, it's no Walt Disney World, that's for sure. If we hadn't gone to WDW a week ago I'd head back to Darien this Fall when rates are low again. We've never stayed in summer, but I agree the prices sure do rise!

I just wanted to post so other families weren't too scared off. For off season stays, especially early summer when WaterParks are open, it's still a very good family fun deal, I feel. And my family still feels safe & happy there.
