We just got back from our stay at the AKL and I wanted to let you all know how absolutely wonderful it was! I'll be writing a trip report later, but I just want to say a few things about AKL.

First of all, we got a free upgrade to savannah view upon arrival and it was just so incredible. Every single CM we encountered at this resort was friendly and helpful beyond belief. The resort itself is so beautiful and unbelieveably quiet, even for as crowded as it was. Every day that we returned to the resort from the parks was like a sanctuary. It was shady, cool, and calm.

The bus service was pretty nice. We rarely encountered any standing-room only crowds on the buses because of our schedule, but the one time we did get a crowded bus, everybody was totally polite and courteous to one another.

The pool was amazing. It's huge and handles the crowds really well, plus there are lounge chairs scattered all over the place and we never had any problems finding a place to sit -- oftentimes back in a secluded corner under the palm trees... just incredible.

The only dark spot to this phenomenal resort was (to us) The Mara. :confused3 Sorry, but we just didn't like it at all. It felt like it was in a dungeon and the food wasn't all that good, except for the African Stew.

Boma, on the other hand... if you don't eat at any other resort restaurant, you HAVE to try Boma.

Welcome back glad yu had a Magical trip. We too LOVED our stays at AKL. And DITTO for the BOMA!!!! My DH dreams about the ribs daily!

Congratulations on your free upgrade. My wife and I consider the savannah rooms to be the most exciting and wonderful resort rooms on-property. That's some generous bonus Disney gave you! Can I rub you for luck? :)

What did you think of those soups?? I thought they alone were worth the price of the dinner. Our waitress told us that we could request recipes from the chef and he'd e-mail them to us, so I asked for a few soup recipes, as well as the banana bread pudding and they were waiting for me when we got home. Guess what I'll be cooking to remember our stay! :rotfl:

It sure was and we were so grateful. I think it'll work out to Disney's benefit in the future, though, because on our next trip we'd gladly pay for the savannah views now that we know how great they are!

Or we'd at least pay for a pool view. Even that was breathtaking.

Go for the head rub :teeth:
