Just back from a stay at BLT from Sept 1-9th. We had a one bedroom Mk View. Dh requested 7th floor or higher at the 11 mth window. We were on the 4th Floor room 7420. We were told when we checked in on the 1st that there was no other 1 bedroom available on a higher floor but we chould check later in the week to see if one opened up. I was a little bummed but the view was still nice. We could see the Castle and Space Mountain just fine but I missed the higher view. We didn't want to pay for a room change fee so we stayed where we were.

No problems with the room, just the usual wear. Everything was clean when we arrived and was nicely cleaned again on our full cleaning day.

Crowds were a little heavy on the 1st and 2nd but was light the rest of the time. On Wednesday the 7th TSM had a 20 minute wait at 10am and Fast Passes were still available throughout the day. That is the first time we actually walked on that ride. Always had to use Fast Pass.

We felt that the bus service was a little lacking. Had to wait 45 minutes for a Downtown bus one day and the 35 minutes the next. Monorail was down one morning and that created a little chaos for people.

It was HOT!!! We were very thankful that we had the winds from Hurricane Lee or else it would have been totally unbearable.

We enjoyed celebrating my Mom's 84th birthday. She enjoyed all the attention she received from the Cast Members when she wore her Birthday Button. Hope I can still ride RnR, ToT, and BTM when I'm 84!!!

It was a very fun and relaxing trip. Looking forward to our next trip in October for Food and Wine. LOVE OUR DVC!!!!

Wait, are you telling me your Mom rode ride RnR, ToT, and BTM?!?! I am half her age and I don't go on those rides!!! Wait, what's BTM....

Sounds like fun and we love BLT. When we were there in August, there was some trouble with the DTD buses as well. Some of our group waited more than 45 minutes to get back on our last day. Then ended up taking the GF bus and hoping the monorail. They made it back just as the ME bus was pulling in to take us back to the airport.

Next summer, we are taking a cab!! Glad that you made the best of your lower floor. This is the one piece I don't like about the MK view rooms and why I will never book one. They cost alot of points and should only be on the higher floors. And unfortunately, pretty much everyone who books those rooms requests a higher floor, which, IMO, basically makes it a useless request.

And, happy belated birthday to your mom!!!:cool1:

:worship: That is unheard of for TSM! You had some major pixie dust going. I'll cross my fingers and hope I'm so lucky in a week but I've never seen lines that short.

And just for the record, I think I'm in love with your mom. Way to go!! Happy Birthday. I hope you ride ToT and RrC until you're 100!! Woot!

Dh requested 7th floor or higher at the 11 mth window. We were on the 4th Floor room 7420. We were told when we checked in on the 1st that there was no other 1 bedroom available on a higher floor but we chould check later in the week to see if one opened up. This is why I will no longer book a MK view. It just isn't worth the points to be put on the 4th floor.

One question, there is a fee for changing rooms? I never knew that. How much is it?

This is my worry about MK view. We're planning it for our first BLT trip (and our DD's first trip) and then we probably won't again. I'm going to be really sad if we get stuck on the 4th floor (which really is barely a MK view in my opinion).

I'm curious about how much the room change fee is as well.

Not sure of the exact price but IIRC it is maybe $50 to $75--it could be the cost of having to clean the room again.

I agree--spending so many points on an MK view room and then being only one floor above someone who spent a lot less would be too much for me to handle. What I would love to see them do is what they did at BWV with the BW view room. At BLT make floors 7 and higher a booking category so when you book, you know if you are getting one or not--and yes, I know the more booking categories there are, the harder it is--but it would alleviate a lot of disappointment I think for people. At least then, you know in advance if you are booking floors 3 - 6 and can plan accordingly.

They've already done the MK view and I don't think it requires another category. What needs to be done is to change some of the room assignments like they did at AKV. However that ship has probably sailed since I think it would be much more difficult to do now that all of BLT is declared.

dw and i were on our annv.trip 2nd through the 5th .first time at blt and booked a lake view.
arrived around 8 pm got to our room stepped out on our balcony just at fireworks time and looked to our left and there was the magic kingdom.that was great, got a front row seat.we were in a studio and was placed on the 6th floor.great room but small.with the kids will def. need a 1 br.
will go back, love being able to spend the day at the park then come back to the resort for the show.

Which is why the only way to fix that issue would to make a new category called "MK View preferred"--floors 7 and up. Same points but a guarantee. Isn't the reason they made "near HH" at OKW a booking category because so many requested it that it just made sense?

I would bet that most that book MK view request higher floor. Not that I expect this to ever happen, but I just think that it would make a lot of sense, given the disappointment of so many guests who get there and are on those lower floors.

I know for me, if that was the case, I would consider trying an MK view room. But, as long as you can be on floors 3 to 5 for MK view points, I won't ever gamble--which I guess is good for all those wanting those rooms!

Sorry, BTM is Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road, guess I should have listed it as BTMRR. Oops.

The room change fee would have been $75. The 4th floor wasn't so bad, we still had a view of the Castle, Space Mountain, and saw the train pass by. We sat on our balcony enjoying Wishes each night and could even see Tink fly, we also enjoyed watching the Electrical Water Pageant. We had a 7th floor view on our previous stay, and the only thing missing was seeing Splash Mountain. So to me the extra points were well worth it.

loved it there so much I just bought their myself!

Congratulations neighbor and Welcome Home!!

Sounds like your view was better than ours. Last year, we not only got fourth floor, but the supports for the awning were right in our view such that to see anything from the balcony you had to be standing. To be fair, MS did make amends for the view, but still I believe the room is still categorized as an MK view.
