We had our good days and our bad days. This is our second 10 day trip this year and both times one of us has become ill. Still love Disney , but the coffee is awful! I would be pleased to answer any questions.

Welcome back!!!
Sorry to hear of your illness while in the "world". I just hate it when I hear someone gets sick while they are on vacation. I almost went on my last one sick, but the doctor gave some good medicine to knock the cold out before I left. Hope you didn't let it get you down while enoying the magic!!!:)

Use ZICAM at the first sign of a cold and reduce the duration! It works!

What section did you stay in??
We have stayed at CSR once and stayed in Cabanas 8B. I felt it was very similar to CBR.
We are returning to CSR this April and I have requested Casistas. I really love the look of it:D
I also enjoyed the Pepper Market while there, but we always took the food to our room to eat. Did you eat right there? What was the service like? Worth the 10% added on to the bill???

Did you happen to use the marina? rent boats? Did you feel Lago Dorado was big enough to ride around in the boats???

How were the busses???
Thanks

we're also going in april (our first trip to wdw)and would like recommendation for room

how was transportation

thanks

sorry about your illness

Cindyfan,

We were in cabanas 8A. The location was good. It is close to the Dig Site and not too far away from El Centro. I would find the Casitas too far away from El Centro and would not stay there.

The hotel is really beautiful. Our room was clean, bright and pretty. The carpet was spotless, as were the drapes and bedspreads. This was our first experience with a parking lot side room at Disney. ( FYI- we have stayed at POR, Swan, Poly, Hilton Downtown) We had no trouble, no excess noise. Perhaps because the lots were empty? We did find the noise of the toilet flushes above us a bit disconcerting when we first arrived. Then we got used to it and made jokes about small bombs going off above us.

The Pepper Market was OK- I was not overly impressed. It is hard to pay ten percent for service when you stand on line for fajitas for fifteen minutes. We ate dinner there once. We ate breakfast there once. Both checks were large for what we had and there were waits to get the food. On the grill line the night we were there for dinner, there were sixteen people ahead of me. Not good! Breakfast was quicker . However, by the time you get OJ or fruit salad, an entree and coffee, you might as well go to the Maya Grill.

There is a convention presence. The good news about that is that conventioneers are not at the pool during the day. The pool area is just great. My daughter was thrilled with it.

I am still impressed with the disney bus service. We have never had a problem and have never waited more than fifteen minutes for any bus. We have visited Disney for around fifty days over the last three years and only rented a car for one of those days. They do a good job.

Thanks for responding everyone.

Gina

adznyfan,

I would reccomend requesting a room in cabanas 9A or 9B. I really think they are the best local.
Have fun!

Great info - we'll be there March 9 - 15 and this is my first time staying on property. We are going for DH's convention, so he has requested Casitas 3 because that is between the convention center and one of the bus stops.

Does anyone know if the Coronado offers refrigerator rentals, and if so what is the daily cost??

Thanks!!

We just returned today and yes they have fridge rental. We were in Casitas 2 and it was a 5 minute walk to El Central. Casitas 3 is closer so that is a good choice if you want to stay in Casitas. The bus service was great to the parks.

Order the connections vouchers and you will save a fortune. For $11 each you can get a $30 dollar meal in the Pepper Market. It is very expensive to eat there. I have stayed at other resorts and this one was the most expensive for the casual eating area.

how do you order connections vouchers, and are they good at other restaurants beside the Pepper Market?

I know this is the wrong board for this so if you move it I understand.

Go to Mousesavers.com she has a section about connections vouchers. They are good at almost all the hotels casual restuaramts. We used them three times at Beaches & Cream at the beach club and the food was great and the service spectacular. We figured out that we saved $150 on food using them.

More to spend in the stores!

Thank you. :) We work hard to keep the Magic in Motion. :)

I know this sounds picky, but if you use Connections vouchers at the Pepper Market, do they still add on the 10% gratuity??

No they do not the 10%. It is included along with the tax in the total. The vouvher will cover it all. We used them there about 2 weeks ago and had some great meals. Although the children's men is limited we used 2 vouchers one night for DH, DD and myself and had plenty of food.

(Hi Mario! Thanks for the CSR link!!)

Okay -- I'm intrigued by these vouchers -- hubby's food expenses will be covered by his employer (for him, this is a business trip). This means when we eat together we'll need separate checks (he'll charge his to the corp credit card; we'll pay for mine).

So I'm thinking the vouchers might be a good way for me to save some $$$ on some of my meals (so I can afford to splurge once at Fulton's maybe) - especially on the meals I eat alone in the parks as a convention widow  . So, I've got a few questions:

Do the vouchers work on ALL menu items at the restaurants that accept them??

Are they "better deals" for some restaurants versus others?

I've gone to the mousesavers.com website and am still reading through that wealth of info. But if anyone can post info about their voucher experiences, or tips, I'd really really really appreciate it.

ivanova:

The quick & casual meal voucher will include: 1)appetizer 2)main entree 3)drink & 4)dessert. Although they can be used at many different locales throughout the world, our experience is that they are particularly good deals when used at: 1)beaches & cream 2)pepper market at CSR. warning: you can get a ton of food using these vouchers! we are a family of 3 and can easily feed all of us on 1-2 vouchers and have plenty of leftovers to take back to the room. The vouchers also cover taxes and gratuites.

concerning CSR buildings: we stayed in cabanas 8A. this is the closest building to the Dig Site(main themed pool) and I believe bus stop #4. Also, right next to the laundry facilities and another "quiet" pool. about a 3-5 minute walk from El Centro. we liked this resort; it reminded us of CBR.
