I have no idea what everyone is complaining about with FP+ and Magicbands.
We were former superusers of FP-.
The system works! We had no trouble making, changing, or getting 4th 5th and 6th FP+ over last weeks 5 day trip.
Rope drop remains your best friend, we rode space 4 times before 930 am.
Splash and thunder still walk ons at 10. Changed our FP+ times for these three attractions on the fly to later times in the day WITH NO ISSUE.
We rode TSMM twice at rope drop, keeping our previously scheduled FP+ for 630 PM, and we got right on that 3rd time.
Lines for smaller attractions(Pirates HM) seemed a tad longer, but the high capacity still swallowed those up quickly.
WI-FI in the parks was not spotty, unless you were in a cave or mountain.
We had NO issues with the APP whatsoever. Magicbands worked flawlessly to get into room , into parks, into attractions with FP+, and to charge to our room.
Don't believe the negative hype. I've been countless times with the old system. I was scared to death because of all the negativity around here for the past 5 months.
It was a pleasure to open the app, look at wait times, or make a FP+ reservation without criss crossing all over creation to check return times.
There were plenty of CM's at the kiosks ready to help.Never saw more than ten people in line at a kiosk, and if you went to the next one it might be empty. Knowing where they are is helpful.
The parks were clean, EVERY CM we ran into was helpful, friendly, and in a Disney mood.
It was a great trip.
 
Great to hear! We leave in 10 days. I have been nervous because we, too, were superusers of FP-. I have been reading more positive reports of FP+ lately. Glad they have worked the bugs out. And, adding the additional FP+ after using your 3rd makes me think more positive of FP+.

of rides were you getting with the fourth, fifth and sixth fastpasses? A couple of weeks ago a poster with an AP was tracking when FP+availability for certain attractions ended. It seemed that the headliners were running out by mid morning.

We still have time before we go so I'm looking for as many data points as I can get.
 

Depending on what time you look, we were getting space splash and thunder still at 4 in the afternoon for late return times. This would mimic availability during the old system, where times would push later and later in the day.
We used to use our late FP- for Buzz a lot, and those were always available as was pirates and HM.
I would still make your 3 for Space, splash Thunder, TSMM TOT or RNR soarin TT
We had our TT for 930-1030, road Soarin twice at opening with no wait, then went across to TT,
Not big AK fans but will say on Tuesday we went to AK at 430pm. Rode Dinosaur 7 times before closing at 6.

With reference to your first post, not too long ago, there were some significant issues with the system. It appears that many of those have been addressed and for the most part they have been resolved or are in the process of ironing out the remaining creases. You report is certainly very encouraging for us - fellow former super users :)

I do have one question: Do you like Dinosaur? ;)
 
Glad everything worked for you, but it does not work that way for everyone at different times of the year. We were there in March/April (before the extra FP+), and could not change our FP+ times to later in the day on multiple days. There were no more times available for the day.

We also could not ride as many attractions as you did at MK rope drop. No way we could have ridden Space Mtn three times before 10:00. More people in the parks equals less rides and flexibility in changing FP+ reservations. I guess it pays to go when the crowds are less, but with older kids, we can't do that.
 
So glad to hear your positives. Thank you for positng. I think more people post the negatives anyways. We go in a few months and I know doubt all will be fine and if not it will get worked out. I am not worried in the least.

Great to hear. I am optimistic for our October trip. The glitches are getting fixed! Now all I need is the ability to book 4th, 5th etc FP+ on the app instead of a kiosk and it will be perfect.
 
For those worried about higher crowd issues...I went at christmas two years ago, Crowds were insane!
Everything from the moment parked opened was pushed to max two hour windows. We still got a lot done at rope drop, and maybe got three fastpasses before the times got pushed too late or things were gone. At least now you can book your three for when you want, without regard for running all over, or figuring when return times are. If you lose out on late ones, you would have under the old system too. We didnt get to MK until after 11am on Friday, but still manged to ride the three mountains, at 12 1 and 2. Try that with the old system. You might pull itoff, but it would be with major headaches. This was done in five minutes on the app after we arrived, as we originally had them set for 9 10 and 11
agree it will be more difficult when the parks are more crowded. But its not as bad as everyone made it out to be.
 
What kind of things utilize the APP? I don't have a smart phone, but I do have an IPOD. can I use that?
 
We had no issues last week with our bands or FP's.

On Friday at MK, we used our first 3 FP+ selections by 2:30pm and were able get to 4 more throughout the day and we also rode a few rides on stand by. Our extra FP's were for the Jungle Cruise (had a 50 min wait), Little Mermaid (had a 40 min wait), Pirates (had a 40 min wait) & one other that I can't recall right now. There were extra FP's available for the everything, including the mountains, into the early evening when we last went to a FP+ kiosk.

For what it's worth, DH is a big fan of the FP+ kiosks. He was our FP "runner" on previous trips and said that he'd rather stand in a short line to get more FP's than run all over the parks to get them like he used to do. Using the app to check wait times is a nice feature too.

We're fans of magic bands and FP+ :cool1:
 
OP: Thank you so much for this post - I am looking forward to my vacation with less stress now. I do believe others had trouble, but it seems things are much better. I appreciate your reminders that crowds were crowds "then" also.

You don't need the app in disney world - you can use kiosks or you can access the mydisneyexperience web site from anything you have that can connect to the internet. I don't know about ipods, but we were planning on using DD's galaxy player to access the web site. ...and then we bought smart phones a week ago - not sure how to use them fully so likely will use the web site or kiosk.

Anything in your MDE account. You can change and make FP+'s, make dining DR's, check wait times (I prefer TP's Lines), check your reservations.

A wifi ipod will work also.
 
Excellent! And to be expected when they're spending millions per month to get it fixed... It worked great when we were there 45-days ago also.

Now to see what happens when it gets super busy coming up...
