Just back and not happy

Far from it. The OP's frustration is a perfect case study of some of the pitfalls of what WDW has become. Not everyone is an uber planner. The only solutions that most people here can offer are: study the system more; pre-plan more; and/or, don't let the door hit you on the way out. But in reality, the "new" Disney World is visited by many, many people who will not have read mesaboy's definitive treatise; will not have even heard of FP+ until they arrive; like to play Resort Bus Roulette in the morning and won't have planned a blessed thing in advance; or who just don't like to put that much effort into taking a vacation. It may be difficult for Dis Members to think that such people walk, eat and breath on this earth. But they are out there. And the OP's frustration, having been to WDW so many times in the past and not encountering the issues that they did this time, is real and will be replicated.

And a lot of those people you mentioned never used FPs in the past either and are less adverse to waiting in lines but yet they still have a great time.

Thank you. And this is EXACTLY my point. Summed it up nicely.

You're one of the few. Lots of threads over the years talking about how bad the food has gotten.

Maybe the issue is now you hold Disney to too high of a level?

Its fine it used to be better but what do you rate it today against any other place you would eat?

Disney is one of the few places where the food is better than I can make myself at home. I can go to all sorts of restaurants personally and through work and they all come up short and I find myself just thinking I could make the same dish healthier (I am not a health nut just not dripping in oil for instance) and tastier at home. Counter service is about on par with fast food and is the reason I just look to avoid it at Disney.

Sorry for your disappointment and bad experience. Our last trip left me feeling the same way. There are a lot of other beautiful places in the world to spend your hard earned vacation dollars! Good luck.

The past few years (that's how long we've been doing SWWs) they've had the art for sale and on display in Darth's Mall. They didn't do it this year and I'm not sure what art you're talking about being on display throughout the park. I've not seen any.

Oh ok, the art in Darths Mall. I thought you meant art and paintings in general. I went last year and remember seeing a bunch of great art. I didn't go this year so idk. I'm assuming maybe because the venue they hosted it was smaller than the portable in between RnR and ToT. They do have a few pieces of Star Wars in the store at HS that the drawing animation attraction empties into. Can't remember the name of it. But definitely not as much as Darths Mall from last year at least.

They might have downsized the SWW art pieces if not many people have been buying any. That's just a guess though.

I love when people totally miss the point.

No I got it-the attraction was soo bad and "not worth it at all" that you can't even get a FP+ for it. Had to be checking for availability-no irony at all? But had to come up with something negative and chose 7DMT and TSM as the examples-attractions that would/were always out of FP- before the average guest arrived at the parks.

Huh? I have no idea what you're ranting about....

You stated your upset about FP+ because you need to pre-book ahead of time, I am saying it better for those who come from out of state and why are you more entitled because your local?

:::facepalm:::
Times like this where the whole point is missed...

There was no trick to getting a FP+, that was not what the thread was about, it was about how you could get Space Mountain for instance at 3PM on a Saturday by just looking to book it...

I did not say that. Again, point was missed. You shouldn't HAVE to research it for hours and read through tons of threads to understand how it works.
So your talking for other people? Why don't you let the first timers talk about FP+ that did no planning or reading

Again, not really sure what you're going on about...
I am saying have fun elsewhere if enough people leave they will have to change their ways

Over-paying is one thing. Being RAPED is another. Again, it didn't used to be that way. Yeah, you paid more but the food quality was better and you didn't get raped when you paid.
That is your opinion of the matter, I look at Disney like any specialty event, I could say the same thing for the Packers charging like $8 for a beer or downtown Chicago charging $10+ for a rail mixer....

Not a good enough reason to use the word "raped".

Agreed. The poster lost all credibility at that point to me.

To be fair, the word also means "to plunder" or "despoil", which have economic and environmental implications, respectively. Not every usage of the word implies sexual assault. "To rape the countryside" and "rape one's wallet" are perfectly p.c. usages of the word.

Sorry, but this not the equivalent of "being taped." Ridiculous.

So the OP should be irritated at MesaBoy because he's trying to help others? :confused3

It isn't MB's fault, which is why I said the frustration was misplaced.

Exactly you didn't get the point. I'm pretty sure the point is that some rides you can't get FP's for the same day. So, people who don't like to plan their park stay 60 days in advance or who don't know how to use FP+ can't possibly get FP's for them the same day. Has nothing to do with his liking of the ride. Also, if you dislike the ride you are more likely to not to care if you only waited 20 minutes via FP rather than two hours in standby. Also, just because you can't get a FP+ for something doesn't make it a good attraction. It just makes it a new attraction.

See JimmyV's post.

How many people actually use it in that context, though? I just think there are many other ways he could have expressed his frustration. :confused3

If you read the colloquy carefully, you will see that the OP is/was not irritated or frustrated at measboy. Instead he was irritated and frustrated at the fact that he should have to read a treatise in order to fully understand the new world order. That level of irritation and frustration is well placed. Even mesaboy agrees with that. See this exchange...

My point is, it shouldn't be so complicated that guest should have to research it in order to figure out how to work the system.

1. Agreed.

Are you kidding? Disney isn't forcing anyone to buy their goods. Not PC and not the right context.

I didn't say that I agreed with the premise for which the word was used. I only stated that the word was being used in the "plunder" sense. Look at any dictionary. I will be very, very surpirsed if "plunder" is not used to define the word at some level. Do I think that WDW engages in plunder? No. But that doesn't make the word choice wrong. The conclusion maybe. But not the terminology.
