Just back from a week at the BCV. Since I was taking my parents, DB, and SIL for their first on-site trip, we ate out a lot more than usual! SIL said she had great food the entire trip. Here's a quick review of each place:
Boma: DH, DS(5), DD(2) and I ate there alone b/c the others were delayed due to Charley. Great food, but difficult to manage a buffett with 2 children and no "extra" adult hands. I spent most of my time running back and forth to the buffett, and DH and I didn't get to eat at the same time.
HDDR: 7:15 show on Sunday the 15th. We were the family near the front all dressed in red. My dad got picked on during the show, too. I loved it!!! This is our 4th time, and we still love the show. Definately worth the money. I love the food, and enjoy the show even more. The only food problem we had was a limited children's menu because the Trail's End was closed due to Charley, but the chef said he could do mac n cheese, grilled cheese or hot dogs for my kids.
Crystal Palace: Breakfast, good food, kids loved the characters. Had an 8:05 PS and all 8 of us ate, and were on our way to Fantasy Land by 9:15. I don't enjoy this particular character breakfast as much as the Cape May due to the size of the restaurant. I feel like the kids don't get as much character time as they do some of the smaller places. However, the food was outstanding, everyone was full!
Teppanyaki: Dinner with DB and SIL for our 8th anniversary. I had never been here and loved it!!! Our chef, James, was very funny. There was a large quantity of food and it was delicious!! We will definately go here again!
Spirit of Aloha Luau: My parents, DB and SIL did this one without us. They said the food was good, but the show was really slow to get going, and they weren't that impressed. In fact they left before the fire dancers because it was getting late (10pm) and were tired of sitting there. Not worth the money in their opinion.
Artist Point: DELICIOUS!!! DH, my parents and I ate here for dinner. We got a window table and enjoyed an adult dinner with out the children!
My parents and I got the chef's selection. It was $47.00 which included soup, salad, entree, and dessert. My parents also did the wine pairing for $14.00. This is by far the best meal I've ever had at WDW!!! We had portebella mushroom soup, salad, buffalo, and "coffee two ways" for dessert. DH got the cedar plank salmon which was delicious too! Everything was simply outstanding! With the chef's selection you had a choice of 2 salads, 3 entrees (salmon, steak, and buffalo), and 2 desserts (coffee two ways and the Artist Point berry cobbler). The coffee two ways is mochachino bread pudding and vanilla latte creme brulee. Oh my goodness.....my mouth is watering just thinking about it! We also got the French Press coffee, so we were all well caffinated at 10pm!
Cape May Cafe: Character breakfast, this one's my favorite. The food is good, not as varied as the Crystal Palace, but they have Krispy Kreme's!! The character interaction is better here IMHO.
Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic Package: We had a 4:00 PS for dinner. I actually like this and didn't try to change it. We ate a huge breakfast at the Cape May, had a small snack for lunch, then an early dinner. We were hitting the rides while everyone else was eating. I thought the food here was great too, there ws a good variety and really high quality food, not typical buffett fare. I could've stayed there longer and grazed if my DS wasn't so anxious to get on more rides!
I think that's everything, please feel free to ask any questions!
