My family and I just got back from a fabulous 7 day trip to WDW! We stayed at the Polynesian and couldn't have been more pleased with the resort. We made so many memories that I will forever be grateful to Disney, Tikiman and all of the posters here for the invaluable advice/tips I have put into practice over the last few years. However...
Last Monday, we showed up for our first ADR at a country in the World Showcase. We were on the DP, so we ordered our meal, without worry of the prices, and greatly enjoyed it. Our waiter brought our ticket and I wrote down $25 for his tip. This was our first ADR of the trip and it had been a year since our last trip, so I thought it was strange when our waiter didn't bring me a final receipt with the tip on it, but when he rushed us out the door, I figured I was not remembering correctly. Still, it bothered me (as did his odd behavior).
Fast forward to the next night's ADR (at Ohana) when the waiter brought a final receipt for me to sign after I wrote down his tip amount. After finishing my bread pudding, I immediately went to the front desk and asked for a printout of my charges. There it was...a $35 charge, instead of the $25 amount I wrote down, from the previous night's restaurant! I was surprised that it happened, and a little miffed at myself for not asking more questions the night before.
I asked the front desk CM to take off the tip, which she did, and I went back to the restaurant a couple days later and spoke to the manager and told him the waiter's name and what happened. I told the manager that I believed the waiter did it on purpose because he never brought me the receipt for me to sign showing the tip amount charged to my card (like EVERY other waiter did the entire trip).
I am not someone who makes mountains out of molehills. I pride myself in being fairly laid back and I don't let little things work me up, but I think this is worth getting worked up over. I hope he doesn't get the chance to do this to another family...I doubt we were the first.
